Writing is a labor of love for Linda Bridey, whose works are consistently on several top 100 best-selling romance book lists. Since starting her writing career in earnest, Linda has written thirty-seven books and counting, which have gained great popularity. Readers are drawn to her vivid writing of mail-order bride and historical romance stories, many of which deal with social issues, and always include humor and heart.
Her Westward series, which includes twenty-three books, is set in Dawson, Montana. When the series ended, her readers wanted more of the characters they'd come to know and love--so much so that it prompted her to create the Dawson Chronicles, which picks up the stories of many of the descendants of the original characters, but can also be read as a stand-alone series.
Linda's Echo Canyon series, tells the story of a small Montana town on the verge of extinction after the collapse of the mining industry in the region. It shows the ingenuity of the Echo's inhabitants in how they come together to save the town they love. All is not always as it seems in Echo with mystery, suspense, and romance abound!

- Reviewed in the United States on May 1, 2015Format: KindleVerified PurchaseOnce again we pay a visit to our friends in Dawson, Montana. The main story this time centers around Pastor Mac. I am going to assume if you're reading this, you've already read other books in the series. If not, this is a good place to start, although you won't be familiar with the characters. Even so, the book is well worth reading, so much so you should want to go back and read the rest. Pastor Mac had a daughter out of wedlock, something he isn't proud of, but he was pretty wild and careless when he was younger. Because of his reputation, the girl's family never let him have anything to do with his daughter. Now, however, Kimmi found out who he was and where he lives and is on her way to meet him, having run away from her mother and stepfather. She cuts her hair and dresses like a boy for the journey. While on the train, she meets Penny, a young woman who had to divorce her abusive husband. Besides, when he found out she was pregnant, he didn't want anything to do with her or their child. She decides to start a new life somewhere else where people won't judge her for her circumstances. When she discovers Kimmi is really a girl and the reason for her trip west, she is determined to help her reach her destination safely. She writes Mac to let him know she is traveling with Kimmi and will keep her safe. When they arrive in Dawson, Mac is thrilled to meet his daughter for the first time and grateful to Penny for what she did for them. Penny decides to stick around for awhile, needing to rest since she's well advanced in her pregnancy. Mac introduces her to the town's people and they make her feel welcome. Then, when she and Mac are in the bank together, a robbery takes place. Penny is shoved roughly to the ground and ends up going into labor. They end up in a hostage situation but thanks to a certain town's man and a mischievous little skunk named Stinker, the robbery is foiled, the hostages rescued and Mac is able to get Penny to the clinic on time. When she asks him to stay with her, frightened of being alone, Mac agrees and the two of them bond through the birth of her child. So much so, Mac tells her she's going to marry him! The rest I will leave for you to discover yourself. Suffice to say, there is a lot of laughter, a few tears, and plenty of action as always when you pay a visit to the people of Dawson. Highly recommend!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 8, 2015Format: KindleVerified PurchaseBook 20 of the Montana Mail Order Bride Series – “Westward Hope” by Linda Bridey… Linda has done it again!!!! I have absolutely loved each book in her series and each one I love more than the one before. The Town of Dawson is more than a town, it is a large family, where better to live. The cultures between the towns’ people and the Indians are amazing. This story is about Pastor Mac, his daughter Kimmi and a pregnant lady named Penny. Pastor Mac and Penny made the perfect couple. They had a chemistry from the beginning. Pastor Mac meet his 10 year daughter, born out of wedlock and had only known about Kimmi for the last 4 years but he wasn’t allowed to be in Kimmi life. She ran away from her mother and stepfather to travel across country to meet her father. She meets Penny on the train and befriends her. Penny is in the late stages of her pregnancy. A bond grew between Kimmi and Penny while on the train and Penny became very protective of Kimmi. Not having a designation to settle down to live Penny decides to go to the town of Dawson with Kimmi and see that she arrives safely to her father. They took great care of each other on the train. When they arrived in Dawson and met Pastor Mac at the train station Penny was impressed at how fatherly Pastor Mac was with Kimmi, having never met her before, and knew he already loved Kimmi. Penny wanted this for her unborn child, especially since her ex-husband didn’t want anything to do with his child and signed over all rights to this little baby. Pastor Mac felt protective over Kimmi and Penny and the relationship between Penny and Pastor Mac had its ups and downs.
I can’t wait for the next book in this series and any others that follows. This is a must read series, but start at the beginning – not the middle. Great reading!!!!!!
- Reviewed in the United States on July 31, 2016Format: KindleVerified PurchaseMatt and Penny had events in their lives that they feared others may judge them as unacceptable. Both found acceptance even with their histories. Then things fell apart. Matt had to deal with a faith issue; Penny with a world-wide issue. In addition to these issues this book addresses death, different beliefs, child custody, changing for the better, and as always community. Love these books.

My review for "Westward Hope" Book #20
Again we find ourselves in Dawson, Montana & the lucky groom gifted with a mail-order bride will this time be Pastor Matt "Mac" Mackenzie. Mac has asked Marcus to put an ad for a mail-order bride in the newspapers for him but before he could get any replies his daughter Kimmi sneaks away & travels to meet him. Along the way she encounters Penny Winslow who takes Kimmi under her wing & travels with her to make sure she arrives safely. From there the attraction between Mac & Penny draws them together. It's a beautiful story & I think perhaps it's my favorite so far of this series.
It was also nice that the readers could enjoy another surprise. A Bonus by Chief Black Fox entitled "Grasshopper Hunting." I particularly loved this part of the book. It was definitely a teachable moment that gives you an insight into the Indian Lakota heritage. I hope there will be more of these little additions at the end of the stories. It's not hard to understand why Chief Black Fox was chosen as Chief. It had to be largely due to his love of his people and above all for his great wisdom & insight.
Recommend to anyone who wants a nice clean read in historical romance.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful story
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThe twentieth, yes twentieth, book in this great series follows the story of Pastor Mac and Penny. Both of them have what is considered a questionable past - Mac has an illegitimate daughter, Kimmi and Penny is not only divorced but pregnant. Can they make a go of things considering the baggage they both have from their pasts?
I really really enjoyed this story. I haven't read one of these books for a long time as I try to make them last and like to know I have a couple of spares. However, this series has now sadly finished and so there are only three books left for me to read. If they are as good as this one, I will be in for a good read. Recommended.
