I couldn't put this book down! Read it all in two sittings in one day! I read a lot of books and this one really stands out as a bit different. It's a nail biter.

    This was hard to rate. It is suspenseful and keeps you guessing, but when you’re done, there are things that were annoying. Parts seemed to be written by a beginner - you’re introduced to a character and the next paragraph explains who they look, etc. They would also use the character’s name when speaking to them (like a kid trying to add more words to their report to get to the minimum). The choices some of the characters were slightly unbelievable. It also seems impossible for people to find out so much information about a person (an aunt Matt never even knew of and how did they know she would leave him everything in her will)? What was the deal with Katrina, a teenager who didn’t go to school and was constantly drugged? Setting you up to want to read the sequel is one thing, but this just ended abruptly. These were things that bothered me after I finished it, but for some reason I kept reading.

    This book kept my interest wanting to read more on into the night to see what was going on with the crazy family, but.... I did know it was a three book series, but I was still left hanging because it clearly requires you reading all three to get closure. This one leaves off with a lot of unanswered things. I am reading the next one now though. I agree that the characters are not likeable even the non crazy (I think) ones, but the sheer craziness of the family is just fun reading!

    I almost never do reviews but this time I had to. I absolutely loved this book. Maybe a little more than usual since it hit close to home. Right now I'm staying with a friend and his family and the longer I'm here the more they seem to be... how can I put it, a bit unusual? And this book is so well written that you start to think the characters are real people. Those things came together and got under my skin until I found myself listening for footsteps outside my door in the middle of the night!! My nerves are still a little jangled! I can't wait to start the next book in this trilogy but I may start locking my door at night. Highly recommend!
