Despite figuring out exactly who the ‘culprit’ was very early on in this book, I still enjoyed the story. As a successful interior designer, Heather has a huge following on Instagram and keeps her followers up to speed on a variety of decorating trends from creating light to setting the mood. Her marriage to James is struggling but she is so intent on keeping her successful career going that she often gets her priorities wrong. The other things she does wrong are a) lying about her past and b) befriending the wrong people. When someone starts stalking her on social media with unkind messages and things are rearranged in her home she suspects a competitor in interior design with whom she has had a run in back at school.
The book lost a star because I found myself disliking the main character but it did bring to the fore the effects of social media when one allows the effects of other peoples’ opinions to guide one. Not gripping, nor thrilling but sufficiently interesting to engage the reader. 4 stars.

It's not customary to dislike all the characters in a book, but this story was of a most extraordinary woman who harbored so many secrets, had an enormous inferior complex and tried to get around it by projecting herself on her Instagram blog as a leader in design, and gloried in her fan's following. However, it was well written and people who enjoy reading news about celebrities will enjoy it. It held my interest throughout and the end takes one by surprise.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Genuine Page-Turner of a Thriller - Excellent Domestic Noir

Heather has a seemingly perfect life: a gorgeous house, a loving, attentive husband, and a fulfilling career as an interior designer. But her beautiful life hides a series of devastating secrets and before too long, all the old ghosts are coming home to roost. Someone is expending a lot of effort to sabotage Heather - in her personal life and her career - but she can't think who might hate her that much. Is it her husband who resents her? Or an old school bully recently come back into her life? Whoever it is, they're out for blood - and Heather isn't sure if she'll come out of it alive.
This was a fantastic read that kept me turning pages, an excellent portrayal of how fragile trust is, and how those we depend on the most might not always have our backs - or if they do, it's only to put a knife in. Ruth Harrow has established herself as one of my go-to authors. I can't wait to see what she comes up with next.

So who is driving Heather mad. Is it her competitor in business. A girl she was at school with. A bully who made Heather' s life a misery. Strange things are happening, encroaching her life and her work. If she didn't have her best friend Nicolt to confide in, she would go insane. A great story with a truly unexpected twist for it's finale. Well recommended.

2.0 out of 5 stars nothing special, read this plot a zillion times
Reviewed in Canada on August 15, 2019
This story is very similar to a zillion others of this genre. Our main character may or may not be "going nuts", or is someone out to get her? Tired plot, obvious red herrings, and the ending was totally 100% predictable from early on. Very unoriginal. Yawn.
