101 Writers’ Scene Settings: Unique Location Ideas & Sensory Details for Writers to Create Vivid Scene Settings (Writers' Resource Series Book 3) Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 16 ratings

Scene Settings are critical pieces of the puzzle that will eventually make up your entire novel.

It might be new novel settings that you require or maybe vamping up current scene locations that are not fitting snugly into the rest of your plot.

Most of the time writers and authors use scene settings that they know and thus naturally come with a sense of comfort. But what about exciting your readers with new places for them to experience through your characters? After all, the reason readers read is to travel to new places, meet new people and experience new emotions ~ all through your stories.

As writers we are taught that everything in our scenes must be seen through the eyes of our PoV characters. This is vitally important when looking at your novel's scene settings. Your hero may love a certain place, but someone else, possibly your villain, will hate it. The same will happen when you browse through the list of settings ideas in this book. Most importantly,
101 Writer’s Scene Settings is aimed at generating deeper opinions from you if that particular setting may work for your story, or if that scene setting inspires something else in you.

Don’t Just Write A Scene ~ Create A Memorable Setting.

Make your novel's scene settings come alive to your readers with mood, senses, atmosphere and vivid descriptions shown through the point of view of your characters. This book will guide you through choosing settings with mood, atmosphere and sensory details that will influence your characters.

In films like Bourne or Bond you see baddies chasing the hero through crowded towns with tight corners and narrow streets or racing across roof tops. In other classic films you may see the most unusual places on earth and wonder how the studios found those places to feature in their films. Clearly they have endless budgets with numerous bodies to scout for locations. But what if there was a resource where writers could dip in and out to find these special types of locations for setting their scenes?

There is!

Inside
101 Writers’ Scene Settings bestselling author of Pimp My Fiction, Paula Wynne guides you through:

• Creating the right novel setting in order to write a vivid scene

• Finding unique locations for different scenarios in your plot

• Creating vivid descriptions for your scene setting and weaving them together seamlessly through the character’s actions and reactions

• Develop all the elements within a location to ensure you write realistic, intriguing descriptions shown from the character’s point of view

• Using sensory details that bring your setting to life

• Layers of details that make a reader feel like they are right there with your character

• And you will get a free download copy of the Settings Checklist!

Filled with ideas for categories such as crowded towns, tight and narrow streets, adventure locations, places up high and down below, mountains and valleys, seascapes, abandoned places, modern techno, scary and spooky, and unusual work places, homes and fight scenes,

    101 Writers’ Scene Settings
Why should you use this info?

Read the book to find out! Ms. Wynne explains why in the beginning of the book. That and the information can only be called awesome by this reader, writer wannabe. My settings in words have never matched the settings of my mind – until now. The book is jam packed with all sorts of useful information to help writers. It is so inspiring, I know I’ll be using the advice sooner than later. Ms. Wynne, takes pleasure in helping writers of all levels with their problem areas and this particular one does justice to putting characters where they need to be to help move the story. This one is certainly one to be added to your writing reference books. It is very stimulating and I only wish I had it back in the day. Thank you Ms. Wynne for your assistance. I can’t recommend it enough.

I received an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review. All opinions stated are my own.

You don’t need to be a world traveler to appreciate the marvelous service Paula Wynne’s 101 WRITERS' SCENE SETTINGS has done for people who write. This is not the usual suspect, a simple list book. On the contrary, it is an extended, more thought out, straightforward resource. Paula Wynne has painstakingly crafted one of the most sensible writer’s aids I’ve seen in a while. She’s taken a hundred and one fascinating wide lens pictures and reconstructed them for the page with stunning, descriptive words of thoughtful commentary. An expedition of mesmerizing information in clear and concise language that is sure to inspire a large following of fiction and non-fiction writers.
What sets this book apart from others of its kind is the handy, easy to use style, designed for speed and search efficiency. It doesn’t just inform, it saves the writer time, doubt and countless U- turns. 101 WRITERS' SCENE SETTINGS removes the disappointment some author’s experience, unable to visit a locale considered for inclusion in their work. For the masses with time restraints or financial concerns, this book may be the next best way to get acquainted with the rest of the planet. I certainly felt like getting my passport ready long before reading through the last page. This fabulous travelogue will get the ball rolling and should send every writer’s imagination soaring to nail down those perspective scenes with a solid foundation of facts. This book is awesome. Judge for yourself.

As a writer, sometimes I become so focused on my characters and action that I forget how integral the setting can be to the overall story. Scene setting, when done correctly, is almost another character!

Paula Wynne does a fantastic job of helping writers with the sometimes very difficult chore of introducing a setting that fits with the overall story. With her tips, my scenes and settings will become seamless and fit perfectly in my narratives.

I highly recommend this book for all writers!
