One woman's secret journal completely changes her marriage in this hilarious and biting memoir—the inspiration for the Netflix Original Series SEX/LIFE.

School psychologists aren't supposed to write books about sex. Doing so would be considered "unethical" and "a fireable offense." Lucky for you, ethics was never my strong suit.

Sex/Life: 44 Chapters About 4 Men is a laugh-out-loud funny and brutally honest look at female sexuality, as told through the razor-sharp lens of domesticated bad girl BB Easton. No one and nothing is off limits as BB revisits the ex-boyfriends—a sadistic tattoo artist, a punk rock parolee, and a heavy metal bass player—that led her to finally find true love with a straight-laced, drop-dead-gorgeous . . . accountant.

After settling down and starting a family with her perfectly vanilla "husbot," Ken, BB finds herself longing for the reckless passion she had in her youth. She begins to write about these escapades in a secret journal, just for fun, but when Ken starts to act out the words on the pages, BB realizes that she might have stumbled upon the holy grail of behavior modification techniques.

The psychological dance that ensues is nothing short of hilarious as BB wields her journal like a blowtorch, trying to light a fire under her cold, distant partner. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, but in the end, BB learns that the man she was trying so hard to change was perfect for her all along.

About the Author

BB Easton lives in the suburbs of Atlanta, Georgia, with her long-suffering husband, Ken, and two adorable children. She recently quit her job as a school psychologist to write books about her punk rock past and deviant sexual history full-time. Ken is suuuper excited about that.

BB's memoir,
44 Chapters About 4 Men, and the spin-off 44 Chapters novels are the inspiration for Sex/Life, a steamy, female-centered dramedy series coming soon to Netflix.

The Rain Trilogy, an epic apocalyptic love story, is her first work of fiction. Or at least, that's what she thought when she wrote it in 2019. Then 2020 hit and all of her dystopian plot points started coming true. If you need her, she'll be busy writing a feel-good utopian rom-com to see if that fixes everything.

BB Easton is the Wall Street Journal bestselling author of 44 CHAPTERS ABOUT 4 MEN, the hilarious, steamy, tell-all memoir that inspired the Netflix Original Series, SEX/LIFE. Within the first month, SEX/LIFE was viewed by 67 million households worldwide, making it the 3rd Most-Watched Netflix Original Series of all time.

BB was a stressed-out school psychologist and mother of two when the inspiration to write 44 CHAPTERS ABOUT 4 MEN struck. Through that process, she rediscovered her passion for writing, became dangerously sleep-deprived, and finally mustered enough courage to quit her job and become a full-time author.

BB went on to publish four more wickedly funny, shockingly steamy, and heartwarmingly autobiographical books in the 44 CHAPTERS series: SKIN, SPEED, STAR, and SUIT. Since then, she's been hard at work writing fictional stories that appeal to her love for us-against-the-world romance, including a dystopian trilogy (PRAYING FOR RAIN), a psychologist-client romantic comedy (GROUP THERAPY), and a dark mafia romance (DEVIL OF DUBLIN).

it’s such a good book, and from watching the show first to reading this, it was almost exactly the same but the book was better because it went into so much more detail, books always do that but still it was really good and it had different parts from the show and i only have 84 more pages left to read, but i would recommend this book in a heart beat, it’s so good i can’t get over it.

Ms. Easton, I want to be you when I grow up. Obviously, you're younger than me so it isn't going to happen but you have the BEST sense of humor. Your wit and sarcasm shine through with wondrous optimism and a little bit of self deprecation. This book is laugh out loud funny and truly thoughtful. It is perfect and I really want to be friends! You're my kind of people. Truly. If you love and breathe sarcasm this is your kind of book. Read it.

If I wrote a book, it would be BB Easton's 𝟰𝟰 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝟰 𝗠𝗲𝗻. So I know Netflix coming out with Sex/Life today and seeing that concept brought to life is going to metaphorically ruin me.

The book is a journal of sorts, and is Easton's memoir. She is completely in love with her husband Ken, but struggling to find intimacy and passion. She writes journal entries for Ken to find to help get her point across. Spoiler alert: it works like a charm.

𝟰𝟰 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝟰 𝗠𝗲𝗻 is authentic if there ever is that in our romance novel world. It's easy to get lost in romance, but Easton's book is a masterpiece in relatable. We've all had the loves Easton details. We've all had the moments. And I'm sure all of our husbands drive us bonkers some times. I definitely know there are times when I know I love my husband more than life itself, but I concentrate on what's missing rather than the abundance I have. Add that to Easton's hilarious inner monologues, and you're in for a treat.

And if you want more of any of BB's loves, she has standalone books on all of them. It doesn't hurt that the trailer for Sex/Life looks hot af. I can't wait to see it brought to life.

I can't remember the last time I laughed so hard when reading a book. What an extremely pleasant surprise by new author BB Easton. It's written as a memoir but I suspect it's more of a idea of what her memoir could probably be like. But who knows... BB is a married mother of two and like many women in her situation wishes she could receive a bit more passion from her husband. Not that she doesn't love him or isn't attracted to him but she hopes there could be more. Is it possible for a normally adjusted and responsible man capable of showing her the passion she had from her previous loser boyfriends? BB decides to write a journal in her computer hoping that her husband will covertly look at and be persuaded to bump up the passion for her.

BB's secret journal is written how she would have wished the relationships went. Then we find out what really happened. All of this is happening during the 1990's when she was a teenager. Not only are her memories of her relationships hilarious but all sprinkled with pop culture references from the 1990's that were spot on hilarious. The author did a fantastic job at detailing young, passionate love like it can only by in your teens. Also, how the actions and reactions of a teen are not the most rational even though it made perfect sense at the time. She is also an in your face kind of character and writer that left no doubt was she thought without a filter. Sometimes that comes across over the top for a reader but she did it perfectly. She writes about the angst and passion of her previous relationships including her sexual encounters but it did not come across as erotica but more what really happened to her.

I can't stop thinking of and talking about this book to my friends. It would be a great gift to your crazy best friend who likes a super funny-inapproprate-steamy-real-thought provoking about your past, read.

I read this because I was intrigued by the idea of her writing an embellished sex journal to hopefully entice her husband to be more attentive. Plus I wanted the "real" back story before watching the Netflix series.

This book has A LOT of sex. Like way more than I'm used too, and I read a lot of romance novels. I didn't realize that she'd be a teenager when she was writing about her first three relationships before meeting her future husband. One of the relationships (that wasn't with her husband) she was a legal adult but the other two she's 15 and 16, and it was weird for me. I don't have any interest in reading about teenage sex or teenagers in general (unless is in a dystopian fictional world) but I started the book and I have an insatiable need to finish a book once I've started it. Plus I wanted to see how everything worked out with her husband. I felt a bit dirty while reading it though, and not in a good way.

All the parts about her husband I really enjoyed. I was surprised that she was a psychologist and couldn't figure out her husband without writing a very embellished sex journal. But I guess it's just more proof that we're good with everyone else's relationships but our own. I was always very please how she wrote all the descriptions of why and how passionately she loved her husband. And I was happy when they were finally able to have their sex life reflect that.

Very good writing style and easy to read. I had planned on reading the other books about all the men, but now I might only read the one about her husband. I don't have much interest in the teenage sex or the bad boys.

This book is surprisingly bad. It's boring, hard to follow. It took me 8 months to read, I felt it was my duty to finish reading it but it rather felt like a burden. It is not funny and very very far from the Netflix series. How can they even be related ? The chapters are hard to follow, I do not recommend this book although it says "I can't stop laughing" on it. I wish I did but I just got bored...

I came across this book after reading Love Hard A Memoir By Monica James based on the Author's past love life. I really enjoyed it and was happily surprised to find this gem of a book which is another Memoir on this Author's past boyfriends and ending with finding the love of her life and father of her children Ken. The Author has now written each of her four boyfriends that's mentioned in the book their own individual story. Skin, Speed, Star and Suit which is Ken's story BB's Husband and the only one that ends in a HEA. I thoroughly enjoyed this and now I'm off to read Suit.

I can't remember the last time I had this much FUN reading reading a book.

Such a unique concept, written in a way that made me want to procrastinate the hell out of every other part of my life just so I could keep reading. I may have even got annoyed now and then if someone had the nerve to interrupt me.

Ken. He's hot. There's no better way for me to describe him. He was so appealing.

This is really well written and an entertaining, thoroughly enjoyable way to spend a few hours. Nicely done.
