Eight Steps: A friends to lovers romance Kindle Edition
Elliot Prescott has one burning question for his ultra-nerdy best friend and roommate, Fe Porto:
Why can’t he get the girl?
Fe, with her extensive knowledge of romance novels, has an answer—or maybe eight.
After five years of rock-solid friendship, they’re about to take on the ultimate challenge: transform sweet, awkward Elliot into the confident, tattooed heartthrob he’s convinced he needs to be.
The twist? They only have four weeks to pull it off.
But as they dive into the makeover project, an unexpected chemistry starts to crackle beneath the surface. Will their carefully laid plans lead to the ultimate transformation—or will they risk ruining the most important relationship either of them have ever had?

About the author

Taylor is the proud mom of three (not-so-young-anymore) kids she loves more than life. She spends her days juggling their endless activities, hoping she looks presentable enough to be out in public, while writing stories inspired by the strangers she meets in her daily life. Maybe she's a little crazy, or maybe she just misses the Barbie games she played with her sister when they were young—but that's where her stories are born. It’s where they blossom and grow, and eventually breathe life onto the pages of her books.
Taylor is drawn to the complexity and flaws of people. She believes that a life well lived is full of mistakes and that beauty is always found in imperfection. And yes, she believes in happy endings. She’s been married to the love of her life for 21 years after kissing way too many frogs.
She would love to hear from you!

5 out of 5 stars
The story Eight Steps: A friend to lovers romance by Taylor Sullivan is a contemporary romance book. It grabbed my attention from the very beginning and I found myself not wanting to put it down until I had finished the last page. I loved reading about the characters of Elliot Prescott and Fe Porto. Elliot and Fe are roommates and best friends. Elliot is a man that falls under the label of the nice guy. He often wonders why he can’t be the one to get the girl. He is caring and kind. He wants to change how he is seen. He is sure his bestie Fe can help him with this. Fe is a woman who is not looking for a relationship at this time. She is content with her life the way it is. So why can’t she stop thinking of the surprise and out of the normal kiss that she shared with Elliot? Fe has a plan. Eight steps that will make Elliot an Alpha Male and the one to get the girl. While these two tell themselves that they are in the friend zone and that they don’t want to lose that friendship, they both can’t stop thinking about the other. There are emotions starting and I found that these two spend a large amount of their time trying to deny what is happening between them. One kiss turns into more and the attraction between them is undeniable. Will Fe and Elliot finally stop denying their attraction to each other? The reason and wanted result from this experiment are that Elliot gets the girl. Which girl will he end up with? Will there be a happy ending? Read this book to find out. I found myself smiling at the playful banter and horse play that accompany Elliot and Fe’s friendship. There are some humorous moments. Elliot and Fe are two characters that I grew to love with each chapter that I read. There are some heartwarming moments and ones when you I was thinking “Aww.” This is a wonderfully written story that I would highly recommend reading.

A new favorite! This is such an enjoyable story. Elliott and Fe have been roomies for five years. They are both nerdy in their own way. Fe is a book worm. Elliott is a classic gamer. They work well together but Elliott has found a woman he is interested in. The problem is she doesn’t notice he is alive. Fe decided to help him and make him a man women can’t help but notice. These characters made me laugh more than once. Their antics and characterization were a delight to read. Fe is only trying to help but can she help him too much? When feelings get involved how much will things change?
Taylor Sullivan hit this book out of the park. I couldn’t stop reading so be prepared for a late night. I laughed and smirked generally had a good time with these two. If you enjoy romantic comedy with a little twist give this one a shot. Thoroughly enjoyable! I look forward to the next!!
PS. Loved the cover! I can totally see Elliott in him!
- Reviewed in the United States on October 31, 2018Having been a technical writer/proofreader for many years, I am always conscious of FLOW when I read things. Certainly this story deserves 5 stars, but OMG the proofing needs some serious help. Incorrect words in places, misspellings, and grammar slowed me down incessantly. I was constantly reading, stopping, saying to myself "wait, what did I just read?" & have to backup & read slowly until I could figure out what the author was trying to convey. I can't stop myself from proofing as I read ( too ingrained after years of tech writing/proofing). Taylor, Taylor, Taylor...hire a proofreader & not somebody who just wants to read your book before everyone else, but someone who will actually do the job. If you can't pay someone buy the program Grammatik to help you out. This book should not have made it this far without it. It was so bad I was embarrassed for you.
Story: 5 stars...everything else: 1 star
PS: the cover guy is one of my fave cover models. 5 stars for using his picture. That guy has the total Elliot vibe going on.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 10, 2019I really enjoyed this book. It's romantic and funny, and it kept me enthralled till the end. I did find a couple of editing errors that were inconsequential as the story is so good.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 11, 2018The typos and basic errors were so frequent it was distracting. This book could not have been edited. "Hime" instead of "Home" and my favorite "q5" instead of "to. Spellcheck should have caught most if not all of these. Also the repetition of lines was annoying. How many times do we need to hear that Elliot's jaw tightened or how he raked his fingers through his hair. At one point "he forced his fingers through his hair"...what? Was it tangled? Interestingly enough one of the times he "ranked" his fingers through his hair. Then there was one part where a character talks about the appearance of another's genitals that is so OUT of character out of place and just outright weird.
The characters were likable and the story line was entertaining although highly predictable, oops we have to spend the night, etc. I've read other books by this author. This one did not measure up.

4.0 out of 5 stars A fun read!
4 Stars:
Eight Steps: A Friends to Lovers Romance by Taylor Sullivan is a fun read, with lots of laughs along the way, as I followed this friends to lovers story.
Elliot Prescott is a nice guy, a real lovable nerd, who is tired of not getting female attention. He works out, has a great job, he’s nice, reliable, looks after himself, and well presented- so he just can’t figure out why he can never ‘get the girl’. Elliot has a certain woman he’d like to catch the attention of, and has a month while she’s out of town to try to become more of a ‘catch’. He enlists the help of his best friend and roommate, Fe Porto, who suggests that women these days love more of an Alpha male. So, Elliot decides that if that’s what women want, then that’s what he’ll become. Fe comes up with a list of 8 ‘steps’ that Elliot will have to take in order to become the Alpha Male of woman’s fantasies. What ensues is a funny, charming, touching, and highly entertaining romp as these two work their way through the steps.
But what happens when a kiss changes everything? Will these two finally see what’s been in front of them the whole time? Will Elliot get the girl of his dreams? All is revealed in this quirky, witty and original book.
Highly entertaining reading!
Thank you, Ms. Sullivan!
