A Date with the Devil Kindle Edition
In one moment, my entire life was ripped away from me. I ignored the warning signs until it was too late. Until I became the victim.
He took my life away from me; my freedom, my courage. I've lived my life in debilitating fear since that fateful day.
The Savior.
He was there the day it all went down, and he's been by my side ever since. He's been the only thing that's kept me going.
He's my best friend, but he wants more. I'm terrified to lose him. I'm terrified he'll leave.
One tried to kill me.
One brought me back to life.
I'll never be the same person again--that girl died when the match was dropped. Too much has already been stolen from me.
It's time to take back what's mine.

Review
"Kira Adam's newest standalone novel is a fast-paced novel that is expertly crafted and beautifully written. Bryce's journey is heartbreaking, and Kira Adams pulls no punches when telling us what Bryce suffered at the hands of her abusive ex-boyfriend, Robbie." - Sara Meadows, Amazon Reviewer
"This book is an emotional roller-coaster. I cried, I laughed, I screamed and was angry. And I loved every second of it." - Heavenly Good Books, Amazon Reviewer
"I don't know how best to say this, but this is so realistic and brutally honest in its depiction of abuse, it was difficult to read. I finished it last night and still find I'm gritting my teeth fighting back the emotions of it all." -Tammy H. Green, Amazon Reviewer
"Full of raw emotion, and the desperate attempts of one woman to not only survive, but to thrive. ADWTD is a roller coaster ride that will leave you wanting to read more, unable to tear yourself away despite the heartache, turning pages into the night and smiling the next day." - Mama Reniazen, Amazon Reviewer

- Reviewed in the United States on June 7, 2015Bryce is, without a doubt, one of the strongest characters I've ever read about. After surviving an attack from her abusive ex, Bryce begins learning to put the pieces of her life back together.
While Bryce tries to put the pieces of her life together, we also get a glimpse into her former relationship, which helps us to further identify with what she's going through. The flashbacks are precise, and told at the exact moment we need them, giving the reader the chance to understand Bryce's choices and the motives behind what we might feel are insane decisions.
ADWTD was an intense read, and if physical abuse is a trigger for you, take heed of this warning. ADWTD was a quick read, but it was not a light read. Although it dealt with a heavy topic, I believe it was handled perfectly—not glossing it over, mentioning that it was happening but having no effect on the MC, but told as something that greatly impacted Bryce's life—and the lives of those who love her.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 3, 2015This is one of those books that is well written in the sense of giving knowledge to what a survivor of an extremely abusive relationship goes through. The story is very powerful in the sense of it could cause some triggers for someone who's been there. It's emotional and let's you right into the dirty nasty emotional inner turmoil.
At one point I was a bit disappointed. I felt the story kind of dissipated the intensity. In the beginning Bryce (the victim) was so traumatized to the point she couldn't leave the house. Suddenly she instantly seemed to be better. For Bryce to be so nonchalant with occasions that brought on a flash back, the fear was mentioned but soon misplaced. I groaned inwardly predicting what came next.
The story is intense. The situations are fast-paced and keeps you turning the pages. I devoured it fairly quickly. Even though it was predictable to me. I liked the realism of the victims POV. Her emotions jumped off the page. You couldn't help but feel what she felt as she remembered her pivotal past. It also touched base on many forms of abuse. Where one often leads to another. Either way it can be crippling for anyone. Even those who were not directly involved.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 6, 2015I was hooked from the first couple chapters. Kira's writting draws you in and I was able to visualize what was happening. A Date With the Devil is definitely suspenceful. Sometimes I find it difficult when books go back and forth from present and past but Kira pulled it off.
This story made me very emotional and made me cry. If I get into details of why I may spoil the story for readers and I don't want that.
This is a must read. All my favorite kindle books become a must own in paperback and this is one.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 13, 2015I was not looking forward to reading this simply because I don't like reading heavy topics. And, boy, is this a heavy topic. A short read and you won't want to put it down, but don't expect an abuse victims recovery to her HEA. The opening chapter begins with Bryce being set on fire. Flashbacks throughout the first half of the book show how the abusive relationship begins with a slap and ends with a murder attempt. Bryce is extremely damaged, understandably so, but she quickly goes from "I can't even stand having the front door open" to "I'm totally wasted at a bar with a group of women I've never met" in a matter of weeks. Characters that seem important (and are important because they help Bryce regain her confidence) disappear within a sentence, never to be heard from or discussed again. All of this I could forgive because I enjoyed the story and the buildup. What I can not forgive is the ending. First, a graphic and totally unnecessary sex scene between the two main characters to prove that Tyson will not run from Bryce's scars. Second, the shortest trial in history to decide whether Bryce will go to jail for manslaughter. She moves the the jury so much they want to open a case against Arizona on her behalf? What the ever-loving hell?!? Just no.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 5, 2015Crazy emotional roller coaster of a book.
I don't even know where to start.
From barely escaping with her life Bryce has to learn how to live after being burned alive by her insane boyfriend.
The only person who she can trust is Tyson. But can he be enough to make her trust anyone again?
From horror at the very beginning to sadness, protectiveness, happy, proud, Just about every emotion was felt with this book.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 6, 2015Kira Adams is one of my favorite authors. Not only is she an awesome person she writes fantastic books and A Date With The Devil is no exception. It shows the story of a girl who is beat down, and slowly gets back up and fights for herself out of an abusive relationship where her ex boyfriend actually set her on fire! Bryce's story is definitely one you need to read. It has heartbreak and love and overcoming fears. It's a must read for everyone! I would most definitely recommend it! Awesome job on this book and kept up the fantastic work Kira!!!
- Reviewed in the United States on June 11, 2015The story no one wants to talk about. That people try to sweep under a rug. How do you help someone who doesn't ask for it? And how do you help yourself? This is one woman's struggle to regain her self worth, self esteem and get her life back. If you've experienced Domestic Abuse, this may trigger memories and emotions best left alone.
