A Good Man (The Paul Robertson Saga Book 1) Kindle Edition
Their worlds collide one fateful night when Paul witnesses Clarissa's abuse and steps in to protect her. This single act of courage sparks an unexpected connection that defies Micester's unwritten rules. As their friendship blossoms into a deep, passionate love, they find solace and understanding in each other, challenging the prejudices of their town and friends.
But their path is fraught with obstacles. Paul must contend with jealous rivals like the brutish Del Stevens, navigate the complexities of his own past relationships, and support friends caught in the town's darker undercurrents. Meanwhile, Clarissa battles the manipulations of her stepfather, Jake Rogers, and the expectations of her controlling mother. When Paul turns eighteen, a hidden inheritance and a surprising family legacy linked to the town's founding are revealed, adding new layers of complexity and danger.
As they face threats, secrets, and the looming decision over the factory's future, Paul and Clarissa's love deepens, promising a future together far from Micester's confines. But fate, as Paul learns, can be cruel. A devastating tragedy threatens to shatter everything they've built, forcing Paul onto a path of grief and self-discovery.
"A Good Man" is the compelling first book in the Paul Robertson Saga, a gripping story of first love across social divides, coming-of-age in the face of adversity, the weight of legacy, and the enduring power of loss.

About the author

On his twitter page, Marc Nobbs describes himself as "Author of erotic romance, Blogger, Accounts Manager, Husband, Dad. But not in that order."
He started writing as hobby just after leaving university in 1998, and in 2005 his first short story was published by the subscription website Ruthie's Club. Phaze Books published his first novel, Charlotte's Secret, in 2008. Eternally & Evermore, his forth Phaze novel, was published in 2010.
Originally from The Black County, Marc now lives just a stone's throw from where Princess Diana is buried and the Gunpowder Plot was plotted. It's far cry from his inner-city roots, but that's what an education does for you. He studied at the University of Aberystwyth and the University of Swansea.
When he's not writing, blogging, counting other people's money or being a loving husband and father, Marc enjoys the peace and quiet of his allotment garden, where he grows all types of quite magnificent fruit and vegetables.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 10, 2016This book is a wonderful story that follows a young man’s life as. The book is told from Paul’s point of view and that just makes the story so much more enjoyable as the reader follows his journey into adulthood. The author has written A Good Man with so much emotion that you can’t help but feel everything Paul goes through as if you are right there going through it with him. Any emotion you can name I believe I felt at one point as I read this book. Paul tells his story as he deals with the good and the bad times life deals him, from the death of his parents to his first honest true love. I don’t do spoilers so I will just say this book is a definite one-click. My only piece of advice would be to get part two while you’re one-clicking because the way A Good Man leaves you, you will absolutely want to find out what happens in part 2.
On a side note, I had never read Mr. Nobbs before but he has a wonderful way with words making his story telling very believable and honest. His characters came to life for me and I thoroughly enjoyed his writing style. 2 Thumbs up for a great book and I am looking forward to part 2 immensely.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 17, 2016This was a pleasure to read, I really enjoyed this one. It is very well written, even at the times it seem to kind of slow down. I loved the message of this book, that one person can change and make a difference in other people lives. The ending was kind of shocking, but sets up the next book perfectly.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 26, 2016This is perhaps THE best book I have read this year. If it's not the best it's certainly in my top 5. I jumped on the free offer and it was one of the best one clicks I have ever done.
I don't go into plots here. I hate reading reviews and having the plot given in the review. Instead I will tell you that this book is written from a man's POV looking back through the years. We see him make the mistakes, fix them. We see him be what most of us females wish we could find. A real life knight in shining armor. We get to see what make him tick, what makes him cringe. It's a coming of age story, a love story, a biography and at times a suspense novel all in one. It is rare that a book can cover so many genres so effortlessly.
I loved this book so much that I got the second one as soon as I was done with the first. The heck with the book budget...okay, it was a freebie too. But I would have paid full price for it. Honest!
By the end of this book I was so hopelessly in love with Paul. He is an incredible character, insanely well written. The plot was excellent and moved along smartly, with very very few dull places. Mr. Nobbs pulls you right in and gives you a seat in the front row. His writing involved my heart in the story and I cannot regret the tears I shed.
Highly recommend this book. Go...One click it now.. You won't be sorry.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 17, 2016"You're a good man, Paul Robertson."
This is the first book (of many to follow) I've read of Marc Nobbs. A Good Man is a WONDERFUL 5 STAR read. It's full of emotion; trust, friendship, and love. The characters are so real and genuine; they jump off the page and bury themselves in your heart. For Paul, "when Death has interfered, it's changed (his) life." Loosing his parents was hard enough, but when he looses yet another loved one; will it tarnish his reputation as A Good Man? I'm eager to see if Paul's new status will be that of A Tortured Soul (book 2 in A Westmouthshire Novel)
- Reviewed in the United States on November 18, 2016Paul was just an average boy, becoming a man, or so he thought. He and his sister were working on their 3rd anniversary of their parents car accident and death. Paul thought he was just a Townie and no one thought much of Townies. They usually ended up working in the factory in town that kept the town and village somewhat prosperous. Paul had other ideas for his life even though he wasn't a Villager he has his heart set on University and getting away from this place. Over the summer holiday he ended up working as one of the wait staff at one of this classmates mother's wedding. Clarissa is known as "Head Villager" since her father owned the Liddington-Phipps factory, but he passed away a few years ago. Paul snuck into an unused section for his break only to see Clarissa being dragged into the room by Jake, her new step-father. They are in the middle of an argument about her dancing with a real winner of the town and factory, Del Stevens, as well as Jake's wish that she begin dating him. Clarissa is furious and reminds him that she is a Liddington and not a Rogers, Jake married her mother and has no rights over her. This earns her a slap from Jake. Paul can't sit idle any longer and demands that Jake unhands Clarissa. Jake tries to intimidate him, but it doesn't work and he walks away. Paul tells Clarissa to freshen up and rejoin the party and nothing will be said of the incident.
Once school starts Clarissa makes an appearance at his locker to tell him thanks. They have a few classes together and sit together, which is completely unheard of for a Townie and Head Villager. They become fast friends and realize that they have a lot in common. Paul's ex-girlfriend who really broke his heart but they were finally able to become friends again, finds herself in need of help. She had always wanted to try something scandalous and one weekend she was the star in one of Del Steven's basement parties only now he wants an encore and she needs an excuse. He agrees to take her out on a date to give her the out she needed. After the date, Kelly is so thankful and tells him he's a real good man and that there weren't many guys out there that would have done what he did knowing why and with their history. Clarissa is very judgmental with knowing all the facts, but Paul doesn't realize that it's jealousy. Her green-eyed monster shows again when he agreed to double-date for this friend's sake. Kevin can't take Lauren out without Lisa having a date, it's the rule for the twins to get the shy one out. Only the next night Lauren is Del's "star". Kevin and Clarissa are furious, Clarissa immediately labels her a slut and figures Lisa must be the same way. Paul takes the time to get the real story; Lauren was threatened, if she didn't perform they would take Lisa as one twin was just as good as the other. Lauren couldn't let that happen, Lisa had only just been kissed and there was no way that she could "service" the whole team. Clarissa was ashamed of herself when Paul told her the truth.
On Paul's 18th birthday, he finally got his inheritance and he's not a Townie after all, he's a Villager! And he's rich! He has stock in the company and his parents were high in management in the factory as they were descendants of Phipps. Will, his lawyer and his parents' friend, advises him to keep this knowledge to himself as well as be thrifty. Paul and Clarissa are also falling in love but they have one big obstacle, her mother. Clarissa is determined to have her way and with her friends by her side, she's going to derail any plans of her mother's matchmaking. She's going to University and she's going to have Paul. The deeper her and Paul dig, the more intriguing information they find. Can Clarissa really get what she wants?

3.0 out of 5 stars Etwas Romantik für Zwischendurch.
Fazit: Gut zu lesende englische Erzählung, dessen Vorwort "'This is a work of fiction and is intended for adults only"', mit dem nur für 'Erwachsene' nicht allzu Ernst zunehmen ist. Ich schwanke zwischen 3 und 4 Sternen.

5.0 out of 5 stars I loved the characters in the story and felt that Paul ...
I loved the characters in the story and felt that Paul really was a good man with everything he went through and the support he gave his friends. A beautiful story about love can conquer the different classes in society. There were some interesting twists, including the ending. I can say make sure you have book two because you’re going to want to find out what happens - I needed to know so got it straight away.
Living in a town where there are two different groups or classes Paul and Clarissa are in opposite ones. One night seeing the way Clarissa is treated by her step father Paul steps in to defend her. Paul is surprised when Clarissa approaches him to thank him and knows his name.
After the shock of seeing Clarissa a few times they decide to become friends, even though Paul is a townie band Clarissa is the head villager and the two normally don't interact. Paul and Clarissa become closer friends and a lot of Paul's friends say he is a good man, he has no problems defending his friends when others start to pick on them for the wrong reasons.
Clarissa and Paul start dating much to everyone's objections and they have extremely strong chemistry from their first kiss.
Paul finds out some life changing information and Clarissa starts to worry he acting strange because they haven't had sex, so Paul realises he needs to tell her why he's been acting strange and that them not having sex has nothing to do with it.
With some plotting from Clarissa's mum they have to pretend that they have broken up to keep her mum happy, both being devastated with the thought of spending time apart. After they worked through everything they decided to have a gap year break and travel Europe and made plans but as always plans change.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Good Man A Good Book.. Good Job Mr.Nobbs!!
A Good Man by Marc Nobbs. I volunteered to read this book about six months ago, when Marc was trying to get his work out there, and then real life got in the way. I am glad I am a person of my word and finally got to read it.This book is a 'coming of age'/new adult book with explicit content, but written in a romantic, yet current style that relates to relationships of young people on the brink of adulthood. Author Marc Nobbs writes from Paul's perspective, and definitely has the style down. The main protagonist's thoughts and feelings, the reactions and observations of others and his introspective analysis of himself are written extremely well. Marc has the ability to cultivate the reader into liking the characters and draws you into the story of Paul Robertson, (who is written as a mature young man, perhaps because of his life experiences,) and I loved how other peripheral characters related to the his character. The story of Paul and Kelly within the story made my heart ache for him, and his lack of guille made him a son everyone would love to have. I can't go deep into the story without giving spoilers, but the two main characters, the attention to detail in some of aspects of the story, in particular Paul's analysis of business were very well thought out and laid down in the story, but in such a way that was believable of an eighteen year old intelligent young man would be able to explain. I connected with the emotions of the story of Paul and Clarissa and connected with the town/country sets and the workers/managers divide that still exists in some small towns today.Summing up the book is a love story and has many tender moments for Paul.He oozes compassion and the scene between Paul and Ems, how they related to each other during tragedy, especially towards each other was a touching moment in the book. The flow was great, the plot moved at a good steady pace, and I am looking forward to book two of this series and hope that Mr.Nobbs knuckles down and finishes the third before long.

4.0 out of 5 stars An ok story
This is the first book I have read by this author, and I'll admit it took me several chapters to get into the book. The prologue starts in 2048, but then chapter 1 jumps back to 2010, where we hear about Paul Robertsons teenage years. His love and heartache. I was probably 50% into the book before I could say I was really enjoying it. I never expected the ending.
This book ends leaving you wondering what happened to Paul in his Gap Year and then coming back to the UK a year later to start University. Who is Paul's wife in 2048? There is a lot of unanswered questions that you obviously need to read book 2 for.
I would give this book 3.5 stars, because the beginning was slow and it took me a while to get into it. There was a lot of typo issues in the book, but apart from that it was an OK book.
