This is a great step by step guide for anyone who needs to deal with getting into the system in Dubai.

The first impression I had when I started reading @Home in Dubai was a connection with the author who has gone through intense research and peppered the book with life stories from Expats in Dubai from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. There is advice for singles, for families with little children, for empty nesters and for anyone who is planning a move to this fascinating city. The prevailing sense is that of sitting down with a friend as she advises and soothes the newly arrived and panicky expat. I wish I had @Home in Dubai when I first moved here because it certainly gives a more in depth humane and realistic view for all those considering a move or even those who have lived here for a while.
A great read for a smoother more informed transition to Life @Dubai

I love this book - and I'm not even moving to Dubai! Not only is it extremely practical but it is a fun read. Each chapter is divided into information you absolutely need to know about living in Dubai and gives up-to-date and useful links and resources. My favourite part is the wrap up at the end of each chapter, a 5 step recap of what you need to do and 2-3 real life case studies. The author and the case studies included give a very balanced view of what it is like to live in Dubai. A great read!

In simple, easy steps, Anne O'Connell helps you navigate through what appear to be the many daunting tasks required to set up base in Dubai. Written in a chatty, informal style,' @ Home' helps to clarify the many frustrating or confusing rules and regulations that pertain to this city, whether it's renting a house or getting your work visa to hiring a maid or even getting your pet over to live with you. Especially handy is the "Five-Step Recap" which comes at the end of each chapter. This book is indispensable if you are contemplating a move to Dubai, or if you've recently moved to this emirate.

Upping sticks and moving to a foreign field can be exhilarating and intimidating, life-enhancing and arduous. A formidable maze of customs, culture, etiquette and language, both spoken and unspoken, can make the transition a choppy experience. If Dubai is where you're at, this book is the definitive guide for both rookie and old hand, packed to the rafters with amusing anecdotes and sound advice.
