About the author

Marina is an avid book-reader who is no stranger to fantasy in all its forms. Her favorite part of writing is coming up with smart heroines and hot hunks with a dab of personality. Intermingling them just makes it better, as well as sexier.
Her main focus with all of her works is to create hot erotica between consensual adults, even if she’s known to sometimes use dark themes in her writing.

Loved this AMWW novella. Wow wow wow wow oh wow.
And did I say wow!
- Reviewed in the United States on October 18, 2016Format: KindleVerified PurchaseSo I'm a guy, who likes reading, and I think to myself one day... Why not read one of those romantic erotica books the ladies are so into? You might learn something.
And thus I unleashed "Tokyo Longing" upon my unsuspecting man-kindle. It will never be the same.
I picked this book from the ocean of sparsely clothed men and neon pink because it was set in Japan, which I'm very familiar with, and the author's name was Marina Lovechild (How cool is that?!). Oh, here is your usual spoiler warning, and so on, so forth, etc.
My adventure into erotic fiction started with the main character teaching her teen-aged English class in Japan. Nothing too raunchy about that, they were even taking a test. Then a moment later it drops into her sexual fantasy with her favorite actor, who walks in and takes her right there in front of the class.
Now, I was reading on the train when this happened, and I immediately start glancing around like I was some kid checking out the nudie magazine rack at the bookstore. Then I realize, it's just words on paper. Nobody has any idea what's going on. So, with a sneaky little smile, I read on.
The story goes on, and it wasn't long before the heroin becomes romantically and physically entangle with two different guys from the same host bar. Being a male means I've seen my fair share of porn, but with regular porn it's all there in front of you. There's only a limited amount of imagination required. This was not like that. With only the words, you have to fill in all the goodies yourself, and because it's you doing the filling, everything is perfect. That makes way it hotter, and it wasn't long before I needed to put my backpack across my lap so as not to offend the other passengers.
During the whole thing, the author keeps a running commentary of what goes through the main character's mind, and this makes it a really interesting read for me. I found myself recalling failed interactions I had had with various women in the past, seeing the whole thing from the lady's point of view and internally screaming at myself "See! That's where you screwed up!". It was quite the education.
I keep reading and start to get closer to the end, by this time I'm off the train and have managed to get myself to a nearby cafe. The big scene comes when the girl and guy will finally sort themselves out confess their love. I never did like the mushy parts in stories, so I prepare myself for the inevitable violins and kissy fade-out..
BUT NO!! Straight after the kiss they're at it again! It was one of the hottest shower scenes I've ever seen, well, in this case imagined. I got to hand it to you ladies, you sure know how to write good sex.
Thus it ended, leaving me sitting in a the cafe, utterly exhausted. And that was that, or so I thought. I looked down at the progress counter on my kindle and see 90%. I tap the screen and bam! One final chapter.
I start reading again and as things move along it gets to a point where the heroin is about to walk into the shower room of the host club, where the two guys of her love triangle are waiting. And I stop.
I'm not exactly sure if I want see what I think I'm gonna see when she goes in there. I know what I would see if I was watching a porn movie that dropped into a shower room with more than one lady present. I might not be able to handle this kind of ramped-up erotica if the tables were turned. I could be scarred.
So I say to myself, you started this book, and it has delivered so far. You are damn well gonna finish it!
I read it. Then I had a good long sit and a quiet cup of coffee.
The read was five stars for me, all the way. Although I gave it four, only because it wasn't formatted as well as it deserved. However I'm sure the author can fix that someday, so by the time you read this it will probably be perfect.
Kudos to the author for popping my erotic fiction cherry.
Will I read another? I think I will. :)
- Reviewed in the United States on October 8, 2016Format: KindleIt's been ages since I've read an MF let alone MFM/FMM book as I am more in the habit of reading MM and fanfic so initially I wasn't sure if I would be in the right mood for this book but a review on Goodreads intrigued me enough to give this a chance and I'm glad I did.
We're introduced to the female lead, Allison, an American woman seeking more excitement in her life as she lets her mind conjure daydreams of erotic fantasies to escape the boring reality of waiting for her students to finish taking a test, and dreaming of finding love in Tokyo, which she has envisioned as being the place to find love since adolescence.

“Next stop:
Love-Love Street”, the speakers called, and I couldn’t stop the grunt that escaped my nostrils at the sound. When I had arrived to Tokyo and had first heard that sentence while sitting on the train, anticipating my first work-day, I had seen it as a sign of Tokyo wanting me to find love. Now, it felt like it was mocking me for not having found it yet.

Allison is tired of merely watching others find love in the TV shows she watches and discussing the latest episode with other fans online. Despite being aware that it is only a step up from fiction, a fantasy to indulge in and unlikely to truly bring her the love she seeks, she desperately wishes to go to a nearby host club. She intends to go and let the reality of the host club leave her content with her life as an English teacher in Japan, but she still has a seed of hope for getting to experience the love she has been dreaming of.
Upon arriving at the host club it becomes apparent that Allison won't be able to fulfill her dream of spending time with Shun-san, the Top Host at the club and who she has been saving up to meet due to his resemblance to her favorite actor and star of her erotic fantasies. She instead settles for Takayuki-san, believing it is the closest she will ever get to Shun-san as he works in a nearby booth, but the two form a connection as they begin to open up to each other.
From here we learn more about both Allison and Takayuki-san, the secondary characters, and meet Shun-san.
This could have used a more discernible eye when it came to the editing of this book: typos; slightly awkward syntax in places; the occasional broken paragraph; tense changes within the same sentence; capitalization of “Suki” throughout the book except for one instance when the word is written in lowercase, and while this may have been intentional I didn't get that impression; a name typo during the last sex scene; and there is a moment when Allison nearly loses her credit card, but while the context of the scene implies she gets the card back this is never explicitly mentioned.
But I liked Allison's character and was especially fond of her for trying to see the other person's viewpoint and her willingness to work things out with someone rather than allow animosity to set in from misunderstandings and miscommunication. It was easy to get frustrated with Takayuki-san when he allowed himself to grow distant from Allison and nearly push her away in the face of his own issues and resentment toward Shun-san which, although easy to guess from the books' synopsis, is revealed as Allison and Shun-san spend time together and get to know one another *wink wink*. No but seriously they do actually talk and open up to each other about their lives. Takayuki-san finally being completely honest with Allison and the two finally getting the chance to reveal their feelings without Takayuki-san withdrawing was especially nice.
I would have liked to get more scenes with Allison and Shun-san spending time together but that did add more to the connection between Allison and Takayuki-san. I was very excited when I opened this ebook and I'm still feeling that happy glow at the end of the book.
I received a free copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
