Bear at Sea (Bear Jacobs mysteries Book 3) Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 10 ratings

CRUISES ARE SUPPOSED TO BE MORE FUN THAN THIS
Eunice Taylor wins the Arctic Angel Award for her effort to save the dwindling short-tailed albatross population. The wealthy octogenarian invites the Latin's Ranch gang on an Alaskan cruise to pick up her prize. Bear Jacobs, with bad memories of a sea voyage on a troop carrier bound for Vietnam, refuses to go. Then a murder at a nearby senior center puts the retired PI on the alert. Is Eunice in grave danger? His fear for her life - along with the prodding from his eWatson Lily - changes his mind about the cruise. He joins the other Latin's Ranch residents, along with two aides, as they sail away from Seattle. But high life on shipboard is soon dashed by low life murderers and thieves. Good times turn to grief when one of their aides is struck down, the other disappears and multiple attempts are made to murder Eunice. This cruise is full of harrowing surprises. Bear and the gang put themselves in danger to solve the case of the short-tailed albatross. Bear at Sea is the third book in the Bear Jacobs series.

Hi. Thanks for stopping by. After many years in Chicago, I traded in my snow boots for rain boots and moved to the Pacific Northwest, out on the Olympic Peninsula. My Maltese Dotty gets curly when she's wet, and since her tummy isn't far above the grass, she's curly a lot. I spend a lot of time ruminating in the ancient forests out here and come up with a darn good story now and then.

I write a monthly humor column for our local paper called FROM THE BACK NINE, and I'm a co-founder of Olympic Peninsula Authors, a group that promotes the many fine writers living out here in the back of beyond.

Now then. I think I'll sit back with a strong cup of coffee and tell you about my books. Here goes:

* My parents and my husband died in assisted care facilities, so I claim an unrivaled record for placing my butt in those hard visitor chairs. I've seen the ins and outs of the elder care world. FUN HOUSE CHRONICLES offers earthy guidance to anyone facing tough decisions for themselves or their loved ones.

* BEAR IN MIND is the first in my mystery series, appearing now on Kindle and in print. HARD TO BEAR and BEAR AT SEA star the same feisty group of seniors who stand tall on their walkers and canes to fight crime that as baffled others. BEAR CLAUS has just joined the gang, too ... It's a holiday novella to brighten the season. And THREE BEARS is, you guessed it, a book with three bear tales. As long as you folks keep on liking the Bear Jacob mysteries, I'll keep writing them.

* BIG ISLAND SECRETS is a suspense novel set in Hawaii. I have loved the Big Island for decades, having first visited it before it was even a state. This book is a dark mystery set against the lifestyle, quirky humor, and culture of a native village.

* I've completed a magical reality novel called THE SLIGHTLY ALTERED HISTORY OF CASCADIA. It's a fantasy with action, fun, lust and fear...and, yes, a message. It is a lot of fun if I do say so myself.

*CREATION OF MADNESS is a rewrite/edit of an earlier book entitled LESSONS OF EVIL. This one haunts me. It is the only psychological thriller/horror novel I have done. Not an easy read about cults and mind control. If you like a chilling story, give it a go!

*Recently I ventured into historical fiction with FOG COAST RUNAWAY. To escape her dangerous family, a young girl vanishes on the 1890s Oregon coast. I loved writing it. I now speak in 19th Century slang! If I feel depressed, I have a case of the morbs. If something is too good to be true, it is butter upon bacon.

*Newest in the line-up is another historical fiction called Dr. EMMA'S IMPROBABLE HAPPENINGS. The young herbal physician must outrun a murderer, survive a shipwreck, turn up the romantic heat, and face down a stalker. All in the first few years of the 1900s.

I love to hear from readers. Feel free to drop me a note at myerslindab@gmail.com. I will answer.

Important characters abound in this story of many actors. The line of events leads us through action in a cruise adventure that brings equal parts of vulnerability and triumph. These return players in a third novel take us on an adventure in an Alaska cruise along with the suspense of a story of greed and tragedy.
Characters include a retired Private Investigator, care givers to residents of a rehabilitation facility, an organized crime member and all in the setting of a grand cruise ship. We are brought on to vacation locations that are a part of a far northern scenic display and a part of a crime investigation. When people are run afoul by thieves and murderers, the action continues to grow and we wonder who could be a the center of the crime.
This a great read for those who can enjoy mystery and find new experience a reward in itself.

Linda B. Myers' latest in her Bear Jacobs Mystery Series does not disappoint. This is a pager-turner tale set against an Alaskan cruise on choppy waters indeed. Bear and the other ship's passengers embark on this perilous journey filled with twists and turns, disappearances and murder. I'm hooked and cannot wait for the next Bear Jacobs Mystery!

Cruises to Alaska are supposed to be relaxing, but Bear Jacobs can't seem to go anywhere without somebody getting killed. Fun cast of characters and setting.

Looks like I got out of order. I should have read the Christmas novella before this book. There were references to all the former stories in this book. Like the others in this series, this book was a quick and humorous read. It was good to visit with the characters. I noticed I have come to accept their ages as a matter of fact rather than a generation seldom in the spotlight of a novel. I still think it could be a genre of fiction. Instead of Young Adult we have Older People or Baby Boomer fiction.
