Believing Love (Welcome To Hardy Falls Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.0 4.0 out of 5 stars 136 ratings

Sometimes you need a second chance to make things right…

June Esperanza really hates making mistakes. And if a man burns her so badly he almost destroys her, she damn well learns her lesson about letting anyone get that close again.

Too bad that Calvin Hardy, June’s biggest mistake, just moved back to Hardy Falls and plans to stay.

Calvin knows how profoundly he screwed up when, young and stupid, he left his hometown and June behind. Now, years later, he can finally try to right the ultimate wrong in his life. The problem? June doesn’t believe a word he says.

Simmering passion and penetrating hurt collide as June and Calvin come face to face with their past, their present, and their future. If you enjoy a wonderfully emotional romance where two people fight for, and with, their second chance at love, you’ll fall for Believing Love.

Believing Love
is the first book in the Welcome to Hardy Falls series. It's a contemporary romance with strong language, sexy times, two people with a past, and an entire town settling in to watch the show.

Betsy Horvath was raised on a steady diet of old MGM musicals, Nancy Drew, and Harlequin romances, so nobody should have been shocked to discover that one day she would be writing romance novels of her own. Especially not once became clear that, when given the opportunity, she could sing the entire soundtrack from the Sound of Music, regardless of whether or not anyone asked her to (nobody ever did), and that the only books she ever wanted to read were the ones with happy endings (which made things interesting in college).

Let’s face it, Betsy is a hopeless romantic. But she’s good with it.

Engaging read about second chance love. years ago Calvin broke June's heart when he left town. He's back and determined to convinced her to give him a second chance. The people of Hardy Falls are not helping; as they provide some challenges. Emotional read. some funny moment you will chuckle. Recommended read.

June and Calvin’s story was typical of two young people not fully understanding their feelings. My problem with the story was June and the small town and it’s people. June seemed to constantly be the topic for the men of the town and the number of them that she dated. The town itself seemed to thrive on gossip. June acted like a teenager rather than a 38 year old woman.

I'm a long time fan of category romance, the kind Harlequin Mills & Boon is famous for, but lately I've been discovering the advantages of reading independent author-publishers' versions of category romance. They push the boundaries a bit more.

"Believing It" is a small town romance that is wonderfully real. I love the "second chance" trope -- and Calvin sure got it wrong the first time around. But now he and June are grown up, they're surer who they are and -- and this is what I love about this book -- they can handle loving while juggling the realities of how tough life can be. Family. Emotional baggage.

There's passion and desire in "Believing It", but there's also the honesty of complicated emotions and responsibilities. Loved it!

It’s been 15 years since Calvin broke June’s heart when he left Hardy Falls and her behind. He has returned home to help out his ailing parents. He regrets ending his relationship with June, but will she be willing to give him a second chance or is the pain of the past too much to overcome.

This is a sweet and emotional story about family, love and second chances.

    Short and yummy!
This is the story of a small town and what happens when you listen to the grape vine.
This is about how not communicating can destroy lives for 15 years. June and Calvin had to learn trust, what love was, and how to not always listen to what you hear.
Loved the little town. Already got the next 2 books along with this one. Although I was provided a copy to read and review.

This is the first book that I read in the series i understand there was another one before this that was kind of insight into June and Calvin's history it seems that Calvin left June to better himself and several years later he returned to take care of his ailing father and when June gets wind that he's coming back she has a mixture of feelings anger hurt sadness and excitement all rolled up into one. This book is full of witty comments from the townspeople and their interference in this relationship it was a good short read in into a rekindling relationship

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice - but just a bit slow
Reviewed in Canada on March 15, 2019
This is a new series for me. I think if I had read the previous books it would have made my read more enjoyable. This is the story of June and Calvin. At 17, June’s grandma passed and she was about to go to the foster care system. Instead, she quit school and left until she ended back in Hardy Falls. This is where she rekindled with Calvin. Their story was a slow burn over many years. I loved the banter of the town folk and neighbors but the story read a bit too slow for me. I voluntarily received an arc copy of this book

A good introduction to a small town series. June has been the topic of conversation for years, although what they are saying isn't true. When her first love Calvin returns after many years, due to his fathers poor health, he wants a second chance.
It's a hard long journey for them to find happiness but there's a lot going on in the town to keep you entertained.

June and Calvin have a past that makes a present relationship a lesson in hard work, trust and communication. some outside help and heat may make it possible in the end.
