Beyond All Imaginings Kindle Edition

4.6 out of 5 stars 11 ratings

This is the true story of my life: The tragic loss of loved ones and the heart-wrenching grief; the magic of faerie-like beings showing up in my clay, on my pages, and in my home – which they did very much to my dismay, at least at first.
This is a story of magic and altering time and dogs that fly and people who died and beings who introduced themselves as faeries… and this is a story of pottery.
It's about smashed fingers, smashed dreams, smashed faeries and the value of throwing up your arms and saying "whatever."
It's about impossible things being possible and Rolling Stones playing on unplugged radios.
It's about walking through walls and it's about faerie sex; a chapter, by the way, that nearly stopped me in my writing tracks.
And now, the faeries insist on blowing themselves up.
This is the story that blurs your boundaries between reality and fantasy and leaves you wishing you could find your way into my world, albeit without the tragedies.
As you can imagine, this has not been a simple story to write. Hell, if it were fantasy it would have been easy… but this is my life.

About the Author

As a child, Janet Whitehead knew that she would be a writer. Following that path, she has written and illustrated children's books and short stories, published playful and empowering self- discovery workbooks, been a regular contributor to a parenting magazine, and specializes in the power of creativity and the written word in her coaching practise. But the idea for a novel didn't happen until she realized the most bizarre story she could share was her own. A life full of tragedy, and even more full of magic, led her to finally write her first novel, 'Beyond All Imaginings.' Janet is currently working on her next creative memoir, 'Clewless with a Touch of Salty'; the recent story of how Tall Ships - both real and imagined - saved her butt during another strange time in her life.

Kind of stream of consciousness writing which because I am interested in the subject matter didn't bother me. She really tapped into grieving which unless you have been there, you wouldn't understand and because it is so very, very painful most people don't even want to look at it. Even if you have experienced that kind of grief you often shut down. Bravo for her taking the leap of faith and putting it out there in a raw, powerful way. Thank you Janet for that. The part about the faeries, well, why not. You can create whatever you want and I love these wonderful metaphors. Works for me. If you are like me (adventurous and a rule breaker) read it.

Ive been searching for a book, craving, actually something just like this, something that I dint know existed but knew I needed in my heart and soul. The author is genuine, funny, and so very engaging and creative in the way she shares her fascinating stories of tragedy, connection, and magic. "I didn't believe in fairies, but they believed in me". What a powerful and timely reminder for us all to rediscover or maybe discover for the first time, the very real world that exists beyond the one we can see. I am only half way thru, but had to post as I am so excited to keep reading and rediscovering the angels, fairies, and everyday magic in my own life too. :)

This book could be tough for some people to swallow. Faeries? Really? And messages from beyond? Come on. She didn't believe it herself at first--but that's what makes this book so brave and real, and why even the most die-hard opponent to such notions might start to wonder, even just a little, by the time the book is finished. I hope Ms. Whitehead will continue her story. I'd only ask her to include some photos of these faeries next time, because her description of the pottery she makes is so intriguing that I wished I could see it for myself.

This is just the kind of book I needed right now. A book that although tragic is written with humor and contagious insight. Alchemizing pain to magic in an entertaining fashion in a way that works, isn't easy. Janet Whitehead did it. I hope she writes more.

Powerfully honest and awe inspiring. Janet is able to capture and bring to life the " things " that dreams are made of and leave you believing that you can too. Beyond All Imaginings reveals to us that " To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven ".

Janet Whitehead is a natural storyteller. In Beyond All Imaginings she generously shares her real life "magical" with her readers. As an author, she conveys throughout her story that anything is possible, just believe.

A brilliantly imaginative way to communicate many magical and mysterious expressions of the purest essence in the universe: love. Heartbreaking, heart-rending and uplifting. A spiritual tour-de-force with meaningful messages for those with the intuition to perceive them.

A wild, wonderful and unique memoir with one particularly jaw dropping chapter! The title couldn't be more apt for a book that beautifully stretches the limits of your imagination.
