Editorial Reviews

Review

“Set in 1920, this superior thriller from bestseller Brown firmly anchors all the action in the plot . . . Laurel and Thatcher are strong and inventive characters, and their surprising decisions and evolving relationship will keep readers engaged. Brown shows why she remains in the top rank of her field.”―Publishers Weekly, Starred Review

“Brown doesn’t often delve into historical fiction territory, but she does here with gusto, and readers will practically taste the dusty streets of Foley and feel every rickety bump of the moonshiners’ trucks. There are shoot-outs and reformed prostitutes and a no-good hillbilly family, but none of it feels like an empty stereotype—it’s just all a lot of fun. Combined with Brown’s knack for romantic tension and page-turning suspense, this one is a winner.”―
Booklist, Starred Review

"[Brown's] career masterwork and a genuine masterpiece that’s rich in detail woven into a sprawling tapestry."―
Providence Journal

"A thrill ride . . . The historical nature of the story regarding the west Texas setting, the Texas Rangers, and how Prohibition made criminals out of those just wanting a beer is intriguing."―
BookReporter.com

"Chock-full of memorable and endearing characters,
Blind Tiger is an exceptional adventure that mixes mystery, history, rousing action, and a deeply nuanced love story of two wounded people seeking wholeness."―Historical Novels Review

"Creative, wild, and genius . . . Through the talent of this author we enter a world that is ripe with corruption, greed, envy, avarice, violence. And yet Sandra Brown reminds us that . . . there are still those that rise up, believe in love, and have faith."―
Fresh Fiction

"A winner."―

"
Blind Tiger is an entertaining read featuring a good story, a fascinating setting and interesting characters."―Toronto.com

"A masterful storyteller."―
USA Today

"Brown deserves her own genre."―

I have been a Sandra Brown fan for many years. I know I can always count on her for a quality story. This one is no exception.

Set in Texas in the early 1920s during Prohibition, this story has bootleggers, a speakeasy, and a turf war- not to mention a missing person and a murder. The main characters, Laurel and Thatcher, are on opposite sides which adds to the tension.

This book kept my attention all the way to the end, and I hated to leave these characters. This is definitely not a typical romance novel which added excitement and interest to the plot. This was definitely a good read!

Set during the Prohibition Era, this book is the story of a widow named Laurel and her ties to the bootlegging industry as well as her attraction to a deputy sheriff named Thatcher. The two attract and repel and their interactions made the story a romance as well as an adventure. There were some real scoundrels in the tale and I was glad to read about them getting what was coming to them. My favorite character was Laurel because she was a strong female protagonist with a backbone and a will to survive in spite of all the bad hands that life had dealt her. I also liked Irv, her father-in-law, who was a ne’er-do-well determined to help his daughter-in-law thrive in a harsh environment. Finally, I enjoyed the character of Corinne, a young woman who didn’t know how to read but who had more common sense than a lot of people who did. This is a book that is part adventure, part romance and all entertainment.
I checked out a copy of this book from my local library using the Libby App. I was not required to write a positive review. All opinions are my own.

I’ve read everyone of Sandra Brown’s books and they’ve always been a great read. But hands down this is my favorite. The research done on the post war twenties was spot on, thanks to politics and prohibition the years from 1920 to 1933 were lawless for a huge portion of the population in the USA. Lawmen and average citizens straddled both sides of the law and Ms. Brown captured all the nuances of that. She tells a very simple story, that of an honorable man caught up in a turf war between dishonorable lawmen, moonshiners and everyday citizens in a small town in Texas. And she does it beautifully.

The book has Ms. Brown’s usual mix of suspense, murder, and action with a gentle slow burn love story woven thru. But the best part of this book is her ability to pull you into a time and place in American history that bordered on despair lawlessness and poverty.

If you love a good story that isn’t a fast read (the book has over 60 chapters!) and are not a skimmer or need a quick fix read then this ones a keeper! Thank you Sandra Brown!

I was hesitant to read this book, and it has sat in my TBR for months. I wish I had gotten to it sooner. It had plot twists, surprises along the way and was closer to the books I had come to love from this author. Laurel is our h and she has a rough go from the start. I really loved out H, Thatcher Hutton. I'm from TX and knew all the towns referenced and have lived in a couple. So that was cool to read about places I have been. The main town the book is set in, I'm pretty sure is fictitious. There used to he a Foley County, but it wasn't located where this book is set. I enjoyed the characters and storyline.
Standalone suspense romance, told from multiple POV. We get a HFN with the Laurel and Thatcher as well as other couples in the book. Definitely recommend.

This novel plays in 1920 and Ms. Brown gives the reader an exciting close to reality story. I was fascinated because
I heard first hand from my grand parents about the trying times people faced during prohibition and how they worked around it to make life livable. I highly recommend this novel. Ms. Brown is an excellent spell binding author and you come away with some new insights of how people react in trying times. I am sorry Blind Tiger had to end, but it ended as it should have.

Another fantastic book by Sandra Brown. I was almost turned off by the negative reviews, but decided to trust my own experience with her novels rather - I'm so glad I did!

Thatcher is amazing. So patient, so deep, so good and honourable. Loved him.
Laurel is strong, resolute, adaptable. She's determined to make things work out, no matter what and I admire that about her. She can be prickly, but it makes sense and is never over the top where she won't listen to reason.

The story is long, but moves along at a good pace. Every scene is like a thread in a tapestry that we see slowly being pulled tighter and tighter until, at the grand finale, we finally see the whole picture and how everything connects together. Brilliant writing to keep track of all the different plot lines and ensure they intercept at the right time.
It was fascinating reading more about the prohibition; its bootleggers and moonshiners.

One of my favourite authors, and she definitely didn't disappoint with Blind Tiger!

Longtime SB fan and still consider her to be one of the best romance writer’s to date but I was hesitant to read this book because it takes place in the 1920’s during prohibition and bootlegging which didn’t seem that interesting but I’m glad I read it because the characters are strong and the time period’s intriguing depicting how hard times forced some to find creative ways to bypass the law to make money. I wouldn’t consider this one of her best books but it’s still an enjoyable read with good characters.
