Boy on the Horizon: Small Town MM Romance Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 83 ratings

It's the summer before his final year in college and Jacob Franklin Wolcott III is spending his time in Stoney Brook, Maine, a picturesque lobster town on the coast whose biggest claim to fame is the annual Tallship Festival.

The son of an oil magnate and top of his class, he doesn't
need to work—especially not as a bartender and dock hand—but he does need the few months away from all of the expectation and pressure, an escape that Stoney Brook grants him every year.

That escape gets complicated when William Waters sails over the horizon and swaggers his way into town for the Tallship Festival.

A travel blogger sailing the world on an inherited schooner, this tall, tanned, and handsome hunk is about to rock Jacob's boat and knock his carefully charted plans off course.

Is this
Boy on the Horizon Jacob's anchor in a safe harbor, or is he bound to be the storm he can't weather?

A Small Town Masterpiece
5 out of 5 stars
A Small Town Masterpiece
Jacob, William, Ms. Maggie, Nat... Townspeople, and don't forget The Four Horseman... A small town captured in a sweetly gentle but spicy thundercloud of love. Allow me, for a moment, to give you my experience of 'Boy on the Horizon' written by David Michael. Take a walk into Stoney Brook, Maine. To a bar situated by a stereotypical rickety wooden pier. Where the weather-worn storefronts are the same as they've always been and passed down from parent-to-child. Picture whitewashed fences and clapboard shutters as the author effortlessly paints the imagery. Are you there? You've arrived, haven't you? You've stepped right off that boat—planted foot on the ground, and you too will be wrapped up securely in a homely destination created by the author of 'Boy on the Horizon'. The one thing I loved about this story is that the author doesn't tell you what you're seeing, smelling, experiencing...No! Instead, he uses his obvious talent to show you a first-hand encounter of a love story that'll lift your spirits, make you smile, cause you to swoon and just give you all the feels whilst gifting you a much-needed reminder that life is meant to be lived and treasured in every moment no matter how it will be delivered. I walked into this story; to a moment in the lives of so many unforgettable characters. I flicked through the pages with ease and comfort, and I finished this book in a short two hours. I was led to the end through a well-crafted and masterfully plotted series of events with a true-to-life feel. This book is a must-read for anyone looking for a pick me up, many smiles, relationships and love, and just for anyone who genuinely sorts a well-delivered and intelligent story.

I have say, it’s been a while since I’ve been excited to write a review. I loathe writing reviews. I never feel like I do the good ones justice. And the bad ones, well, it’s just not fun to rip the rug out from under someone. But this one, this one is fun to share.

After a lengthy publishing break for the author and the stars aligning to actually allow me time to read and enjoy a whole book, I am so very grateful to have given this book & this story my time. This is how you make a come back from a hiatus.

Confession: I don’t usually read MM romance. I think it’s just harder for me to relate to because I’m a girl. I really enjoyed this story though. I found a way to relate to the characters, which is a credit to the author because he made them so entirely relatable. They’re just regular people experiencing life and love in extraordinary circumstances. This is such a sweet summer fling kind of story, but with so much more to offer, and the “spicy bits” are perfectly done. The writing is smart and clean and flows wonderfully from scene to scene. I was fully immersed in the world the author created: I felt as if I, too, was waking along Main St. or staring at the stars from the bow of a boat.

There are plenty of underlying nuances woven into this carefully crafted little gem; and all within a novella none the less. I definitely enjoyed this one and I’m so glad to see this talented author making a comeback. I look forward to more, David.

I really can not put into words how much I loved this book. It is a great Spring/Summer read. It's a quick read you can enjoy on your day at the beach or poolside. Don't get me wrong this story has sooooo much HEART for the length of it's pages. It is also filled with some very spicy scenes. This book makes you wish you lived in a small town. You fall in love with all the characters. If you haven't picked this baby up yet, I highly recommend it!

This is such a positive, happy read and I feel like no matter what genre you usually read, this story is one you will enjoy. The main character is so relatable and I love the reactions of the town! The ending is the absolute best part, a feel good aww moment going in my smile bank. This book is the definition of Romance!

I was excited to see David Michael releasing another book. I wasn't sure what to expect, but that's the best thing about him. He didn't disappoint. It has all the feels and then some, I love that when reading. Jacob and William were perfect together from start to finish finding their way and making you crave their relationship. It was fun, sexy and emotionally satisfying. Great come back and so glad I read it.

The author provides a trigger warning that this is not a traditional HFN, but trying to avoid spoilers, this is a great love story but does not meet the definition of a romance.

I typically don't go for romance, but David really nailed this book. I love the characters and how they interact with each other. It's cute, funny, sexy, and really pulls those heart strings. I couldn't get enough of these two boys and their weekend romance. This isn't your typical romance and I, for one, am living for it.

This is my first time reading a book by this author and I'm absolutely floored! He made these characters come alive. I wonder where this author has been all my life! I laughed all through this book! The ending was suburb!

um WOW!! First of all so so good to see David Michael's name pop back up on my list of books to read from fave authors!

And this novella for being only a novella made me laugh, cry, snort coffee and just wow what a super enjoyable read!

Ms Maggie, Nat and the bar customers of Stoney Brook make us feel everything even though we only get one POV.

a definite 5 stars from me!!

I don’t usually go for the sweet, small-town romances, but oh, I’m so happy I read Boy on the Horizon!

The author’s writing style had me feeling as if I was a part of Stoney Brook, amongst the cast of quirky characters, feeling the ocean breeze on my face and yearning to experience life alongside them.
The story was charming, swoon-worthy, and hilarious.
Jacob and William together...They were the perfect blend of instant chemistry, sizzling encounters (off the charts steamy), and living in the moment.
It’s a testament to the author’s talent to have you hot under the collar one second, and pondering life’s meaning in the next.

It’s a “throw caution to the wind and allow yourself to fall” type of love and I fell as hard as they did for it.
Bravo, David Michael, for this truly heartwarming story.

What a book to pop my David Michael Cherry with. I’m not sure if I love him or hate him for the ending, but I’m going on the side of love because it was HOT, it’s not his fault my poor little brain likes everything wrapped up with a neat bow!
