I chose the perfect book to read as my first Lex Martin book! Breathless is book 3 in the Texas Nights series of stand-alones and it delivered exactly what I needed; lots of swooning moments that melted my heart and made me smile while I clutched my over-whelmed heart. The friends-to-lovers romance dished out all the feels for me. There wasn’t one that didn’t hit me at some point. Joey and Logan’s story and all the crap they’ve lived through blew me away. Author, Lex Martin, really pulled out all the stops to bring romance to the pages. This love story has sweet moments of tenderness, frustrating moments due to bonehead decisions, angsty moments when things get kicked up a notch, and nail-biting moments when decisions need to be made and the future is uncertain. I fell in love with the way Logan slowly realizes how important Joey is to him, to every part of his life, and the patience he shows Joey. Joey may be the sweetest girl on the planet, but she has some serious self-esteem issues. She hasn’t been dealt the best hand in life so far, so she has reason to be cautious, but when she finally sees the real Logan and realization hits her, my heart cracked a little. There is no way to describe all the emotions that this story brought to the table without spilling all the beans and spoiling this book. If you love sexy Texan beasts who wear a tux just right, who know how to say all the right words, who know how to pull off awesome surprises to make up for the past, and who know how to make a woman drop to her knees, then I totally recommend Breathless.

    I'm always excited to read new words from this author and while I didn't exactly remember these characters well (it's been a bit since I read the other two connected standalones in this series) I was excited to get reacquainted!

    If you like friends to lovers I think you will love this one because Joey has been in love with Logan almost her whole life. From childhood, she has been his shadow. There's a slight age difference (4 yrs I think) but nothing too major although to a 19 yr old, 15 does seem pretty young and so Joey has always been in the friend zone, waiting for Logan to wake up and see her as the adult she's become. At 22 she decides to guard her heart from all the "womanizing" Logan does and flees the state to try and move on, get over him. When she returns for Tori and Ethan's wedding, after being gone for 6 months, Logan finally starts to see what's been in front of him all along...his best friend but also an incredible woman. As the two get closer and finally divulge their feelings, secrets and Logan's old ways threaten to keep them apart.

    I really liked Logan. He's a little misunderstood but has such a good heart, trying to do the right thing without causing hurt to others. Joey...it wasn't that I didn't like Joey, she's super sweet, a good girl, but she's a total doormat for most of the book. There is a pivotal scene later in the book and Joey's reaction was just so passive. I get she was blindsided and shocked, but she just folded and gave up almost immediately and that really influenced my feelings for her and the book as a whole. She does grow up a little bit by the end and start to show a backbone, but I'm still afraid that she will still get walked on 90% of her life.

    I read this book a few years ago and I just realized I have never reviewed it properly and that should say something, this book has stuck with me for YEARS 🗓

    This entire series is amazing but my favorite was Joey and Logan. These two had such a connection 🧲 that you could feel through the pages 📔

    The journey that these two take you on is a wild one and you root for Joey the entire time. Joey is that type of FMC that you will always root for! She is the total shy girl next door and all she wants is her cowboy 🤠 to take her away and live happily ever after.

    The OW drama is minimal and Logan does a great job showing Joey she has nothing to worry about ♥️

    This book has not only stayed with me for years but THIS IS MY GO-TO BOOK! It is my comfort read when I need a pick-me-up and if I have read a book that really hurt me, this book will put me back together. THIS BOOK IS A MUST READ! I cannot stress that enough. This is the series that introduced me to Lex Martin but Breathless is the book that made Lex Martin my ONE CLICK AUTHOR!

    There were a few issues for me on this one. Logan has been swearing forever that Joey has always been just a friend. When he picks her up from the bus station, he is upset his friend ghosted him for the last six months but as soon as he sees her, he sees her in a different light . . . his friend is suddenly perfect, gorgeous and he needs her. But then there are flash backs to scenes with is dad where his dad is telling him that he will never be good enough for Joey so he should give up on that. So was Joey always just a friend? Or did Logan always have feelings for her but his dad said he was never good enough. I hated that discrepancy. But I loved Joey and Logan. I loved them together. I loved the mystery/angst surrounding Zach and his mom (can't remember crazy's name). I loved how Logan fought for Joey and wasn't going to let her run away again. I loved how perfect and cute they were together. I just loved Joey and Logan. :)

    I really love Joey and Logan.
    They're both perfect the way they are. And of course they're also perfect for each other.
    It's so rare that i love both main characters that much. There is nothing that annoys me about them. Not one little thing.

    Logan is this hot good looking guy, with a lot of experience. He is a dirty talker in bed, but he is also sweet and caring. I love this combination. And i like the many different names he uses for Joey. It shows that she is very important to him and not just a hookup.
    And Joey may be inexperienced and all, but i like that she gains more and more confidence with every page.

    They're story is so captivating, because there is so much going on you don't know about at first. But the farther you come the more you uncover. And lets not forget about the twists and turns. There are things i didn't see coming.🤯 It's an emotional rollercoaster ride of its finest.

Something like "ensure you clear a full 12-24 hours of your schedule to read this cause you won't be able to stop until finished" and definitely needs a safety warning stating "for your personal safety be sure to have a box of tissues at hand due to your vision becoming unfocused with tears". Once again my poor already mangled heart was pulled in every direction with this story, that's why I love these books, I feel connected to the characters, felt so entwined with their stories. I love them and THANK you Lex for yet another amazing book

Logan is oblivious to her feelings but he knows when she takes off for Florida and ghosts him that something is wrong and whatever it is he needs to make it right. Now Joey is back in town and nothing will stop him from fixing whatever is wrong.

    Joey is back and she's finally decided to reclaim her heart; that is until she sees him again and all bets are off. It's finally time to fess up and see what happens. Joey soon realizes that while they may have reconnected there are things he is keeping from her and once they come out in the open will she ever be able to trust him again, especially with something as fragile as her heart.

    These two completely stole my heart and it felt so good to reconnect with characters from the previous books. Friends to Lovers at its best!!!

    I am fast becoming an avid fan of this authors work. In the last 2 weeks this is the fourth novel I've read from her catalogue of work and it's the fourth time she's kept me up reading until the early hours of the morning!!!!
    I couldn't put this book down...... Sleep ? .....what is sleep? ........pffft sleep is overrated anyway especially when you've got a book in your hands that won't permit you to leave its magical realm due to the fact it's a freaking amazing reading experience !
    So as I say after four amazing reads this author has crashed into my zone and sat herself firmly on my radar, meaning I will be checking out any and all of her work in the future.... in fact I got a bit click happy after only the first book I clicked her catalogue of published books something I've never done with an author before after only reading one book! That there should tell you how I consider this Authors calibre of writing enthralling!

    This book had me gripped from the start. The characters don't need any time to warm to them I was invested in them, their story and journey from the beginning. The descriptive language and scene settings made me feel right along side the characters enjoying the ride - an amazing feat that few authors seem to get spot on yet for this author made it seem flawless.

    Now as I have said many times before I dont give spoilers in my reviews but I do like to give an honest opinion on how a book affected and resonated with me. I love this story ......the feelings ran deep for the characters I wanted to know their story, I wanted to stay with them in their fictional world .....meaning when I wasnt able to be reading (you know when the things that have to be done in life cant be put off to allow reading 24/7, like looking after the kids, feeding the kids etc lol) I was still thinking about the characters. Where they were going to go, what was going to happen, how they were feeling, what happens if there's a curve ball that surprises me......SO MANY QUESTIONS! .....and it's that for me that makes a great book and a talented author.

    So in my opinion what are you waiting for go click 😉
