4.4 out of 5 stars 9 ratings

PREVIOUSLY PUBLISHED AS DONE AND DUSTED.

Callie McKenzie's life had been one stuff up after another.

Orphaned at the age of 13, no loss when her mother had been a drug addicted prostitute who had no idea how to care for her daughter.

Life finally seemed to take a turn for the better when a kindly couple offered adoption, but as usual, tragedy struck and she ended up on an isolated property with an abusive distant relative.

Beaten and bruised, fearing for her life, Callie flees.

In the dead of night, on a lonely road, Jake Prentiss - President of a motorcycle club, finds her stumbling to freedom.

In the weeks that follow she is slowly pieced back together and falls hard for her knight in shining leather. It doesn't last long and true to form, tragedy hits once again.

Shortly after, Callie finds herself alone and in prison.

Used to always being called a bitch, now, she was finally broken.

Will Callie ever find the happiness she desires, or will she be destined to live out a life on the streets?

Not suitable for anyone under the age of 18

It's been awhile since i had read a book by this Author. I had forgotten just how her writing pulls me right into the story. How do you continue to live, when every time a good thing happens it doesn't last. What do you do? You self destruct for awhile. A heart wrenching story that has you crying, then cheering in the end. An amazing Author with great storytelling abilities. Highly recommend this book and author

I love when I take a chance on a new (to me) author and discover characters that immediately click with me. Callie’s life was a string of nightmares with moments of relief that were way too short. Each page, each chapter had my heart hurting from what she went through, what she had to survive. Jake, strong and an unexpected (and seemingly unlikely) savior, was a welcome port in that relentless storm…

Broken. Callie may have started out that way but she soon found her strength with the help of Jake, his family and his brothers. She endured the worst that life, that people, can dish out, yet she was able to still see what could be possible. The good that her life could become…

I did struggle with the execution of the story. I heard the character’s voices yet I wanted to feel more of the emotions they were feeling. And there were many throughout this roller coaster of ride. There were gut-wrenching moments, and some twists that were determined to derail everything. Thankfully, it was all balanced by the wonder of true love that I hoped would work out for them…

Callie and Jake, and their mesmerizing journey, definitely caught my attention and my heart. A first read for me by this author which has me looking – and happily finding – a backlist to catch up on!

OMG! This book grabs you from the start and you find yourself consuming it greedily all at once! Fair warning...leave yourself some time to really enjoy this story.

What a life poor Callie has from a drug addicted mother to the dreaded foster system and then more! I don't want to give away any more details and spoil it for other readers.

The resilience she displays is amazing and you become so invested in her and her life that you find yourself almost praying for things to go her way! The lows are so far down it seems impossible things will improve but the highs in the story soar to the sky! Two extremes that capture your heart while the relevant emotions swirl around you.

The tie in with the first book is smoothly executed and is an added bonus however you don't need to have read book 1 to enjoy this story but it too is a fabulous tale.

I can't recommend this book enough to everyone. The storyline is creative and has lots of twists and turns, it is also believable which is so important. There is a sweet love story, a hope for brighter and better things and lots of life lessons.

    Bring on book 3 please!

Amazing book. It's heartwrenching and heartwarming at the same time. Callie has literally gone through hell, a lifetime of abuse and is saved by the president of an MC. He's a character that you'll fall in love with straight away. A definite read.

Broken Bitch is the second book in the Broken series by author A.L. Simpson. This is a standalone romance, and each book focuses on a different couple. I do recommend reading Broken Bastard, the first book in the series since the characters do appear within the story. Just know that it is not necessary to understand and follow along.

In this story, Callie has had a very rough childhood. It was emotional for me to read, especially since I have two children. Callie finally escaped her horrible living environment and was saved by Jake, the president of the MC. Jake and his sister’s family helped Callie recover since she had some broken bones and was so malnourished that her body did not develop properly.

Now, I know Callie was eighteen in the story, but I had a hard time getting over her underdeveloped body. When Callie was saved, she was able to eat right, and her body started to mature appropriately. I kept telling myself throughout the story that she was of age, but I was uncomfortable in some parts.

I became engrossed in the story during the second half of the book. At that point, I was not concerned about Callie’s malnourished body and thoroughly enjoyed.

I do look forward to the next book in the series.

The first 18 years of Callie’s life was pure hell but then she met a sexy biker and even though she still had some problems everything turned out great. This story will keep you wanting more.

This title by A. L. Simpson is book 2 in the Broken Series and is an exceptional piece of emotional and hard hitting writing.
This is the first thing I have read by this author, it can be read as a standalone, and A. L. Simpson holds nothing back in this instalment of the series.
Callie is a great character, strong and independent as evidenced by her past and present. Jake is also a great character, savvy and loyal and when the two join forces, it is a great journey.
This Hook tugs on your heart strings and is confronting at times but also sweet, sexy and funny. Well worth the read.
I voluntarily reviewed this advanced reader copy and I have not been compensated in any way.

I liked Callie and her story and how she met President of the bikers club. It grabbed me in the beginning and let up in the middle but the rest was amazing.
