Broken French: A widowed, billionaire, single dad romance (Mediterranean Series) Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 2,684 ratings

Take a decadent and sizzling armchair vacation to the South of France ...
Josie thought she was getting a promotion at her architectural firm, but instead her career implodes. She impulsively takes up her roommates' offer to nanny for a little girl on a mega yacht in the South of France. Even though she can't stand boats, this seems like fate giving her an opportunity to lick her wounds in a bucket list paradise while she figures out how to get her life back.

But this little girl she's arrived to look after has a daddy. A widowed, hot, billionaire of a daddy. And if there's anything that Josie needs less than having to be stuck on a yacht, no matter how luxurious, it's an inconvenient and highly-combustible attraction to her new boss. A man who, for all his wealth, is grumpy, conceited, and utterly closed off.

Xavier Pascale is on an emotional island of his own making. It's just him and his daughter and he likes it that way. He works hard, his shareholders are happy, his best friends are his bodyguard, and the people who work for him. What's wrong with that? But then he meets Josephine Marin. Her arrival in his life is like a deep ocean tremor along a catastrophic emotional fault line. And now... well, now, he's very, very aware of his isolation and his very human need. But he can't be distracted. When he gets distracted terrible things happen.
He should send the nanny home. He really should. But what if he just takes what he wants, just this one time ...

This is a standalone, contemporary romance. It includes luscious scenes of sparkling blue ocean, and tantalizing, seductive food, was well as a smoking hot, dirty-talking Frenchman. If traveling scares you, or sexy times scare you, then this book is not for you. But if you're looking for a story that will make you laugh, swoon, fan yourself, and cry--then this one is for you!

I didn’t know what to expect but I’m so glad I picked this one to read next. I couldn’t put it down! Highly recommend!

I have not been on a romance kick for a long time but I thoroughly enjoyed this lovely, sexy romance, and being able to experience the beauty and excitement of Charleston, France, fine food and travel! ‘Broken French’ is a fun and romantic story with a brooding, wealthy, emotionally damaged hero and a smart, beautiful heroine. This is pure escapist reading and it is perfect for these stressful times.
Josie is an ambitious architect who finds herself at a professional crossroad in her life and as a favor to her friend, agrees to nanny for a single father in the South of France. What could possibly be the downside? When she arrives, Josie is completely taken aback by the gorgeous, stern Xavier. He is guarded and closed off and very, very private. He is drawn to Josie and loves the way his daughter responds to her. But he has experienced tragedy and is fearful of letting anyone get too close to him again.
“I was giving in to it. Giving in to her. Letting go like she asked. I couldn’t. I shouldn’t. This way lay utter destruction. I’d been down this road before, and I wouldn’t go again.”
Tasha Boyd has written a fast-paced, contemporary love story with gorgeous locales and a wonderful cast of characters. But Josie and Xavier are the stars here and have spectacular chemistry together! Xavier’s daughter was adorable and was the light of his life. Josie falls in love with her, too, but is very confused by Xavier’s mood swings.
“… I was enamored with the way he loved her. I had to make sure I didn’t confuse my love for his family with being in love with him. But I feared the waters were already too muddy.”
If you love romance with a guranteed happy ending, you will love ‘Broken French’. From the sunny, colorful cover to the amazing gourmet food and wine to the luxurious yacht, this story was a fun escapist read with lots of heart and soul. There is the perfect amount of tension and sexy times. Xavier Pascale is definitely one of Tasha Boyd’s most memorable heroes!
“I don’t … know where my heart is,” I said when I could speak again. “I love my daughter, but beyond that I fear it is dead inside for anything else or so deep I can’t find it. If I cannot find it, how can I give it to someone again?”

I am so beyond glad that I picked this book up. I was craving an amazing summer getaway read and this was exactly what I was looking for and so much more. Though I can't physically go on vacation, Broken French allowed me to get away in my mind, and Xavier was a nice plus on that getaway.

I absolutely devoured this book. I was hooked in from the start, but things really started to kick off once our main character arrives in France and I just couldn't get enough. I loved all of the characters in this book, not just Xavier and Josephine. Xavier's crew on the yacht was like one big family. And I of course can't forget Dauphine, who is the whole reason that Josephine is in France to begin with. Josephine and Dauphines relationship really was something special.

"Mountains are made to find a way over, not to stop your journey."

If you love your Hero's in romance to be the grumpy kind like I do, you are going to love Xavier. He is the best kind of grumpy. The romance in this book is what I would consider a slow burn romance, but Tasha Boyd makes it all worth it and the tension between Xavier and Josephine is so so good.

As much as I loved the characters, one of my favorite parts of this book was the writing. Tasha Boyd's description of the locations was so detailed and well done that I really felt like I was on that yacht in the south of France with them. It was so beautifully written.

"A life lived in fear is no life at all."

If you are looking for a steamy romantic summer getaway read, I highly recommend this book! It is the absolute best summer getaway read.

This is the most decadent and delicious romance I've read in quite some time.
    I was hooked right away.
First, the writing is excellent. I enjoyed the deep and meaningful conversations between all of the characters, that is not something you see often in romance novels (ie: that's why it's so long).
The setting is incredible and there was quite a bit of information about French culture which I thought lended so much to the overall story. I did have to hit the translate button pretty often in kindle, there are some short French phrases and sentences. I loved it, because you could gather what the words were from the story, but then I'd be surprised by the actual translation...they were mostly from X's dialogue and were often deeply romantic (OR HOT).
I thought the story itself was fresh and unique, I've read just a few 'on a boat' romances, and this one takes the cake. The addition of X's daughter was wonderful and the relationship that develops between Joie and Dauphene was just a beautiful and important.
This is a slow burn that is so worth the wait. It's also a story about trusting someone, accepting love in your life and the importance of family and friends.
A solid 5 star review, Tasha Boyd, you should be so proud of this work! I now plan to read more of her work!

Broken French is a billionaire, single dad, widower romance set mainly on a yacht which I have been obsessed with recently. This book is lengthy at 500ish pages and I devoured it and still wanted more!?

Josie ends up being the nanny for Dauphine, Xaviers daughter, for the summer and I can’t say enough good things about this book. I loved every single element, especially how relationships were handled throughout as they were more realistic representations of how it could happen.

Xavier is so many different things and watching him try and fight his feelings for Josie were painful and funny at times. One of my favourite things about the book is that as Josie doesn’t speak French, Xavier would tell her his feelings in french knowing that she wouldn’t understand! I also loved Josie’s relationship with Dauphine, it hit me in the feels. Josie brings so much light and happiness to both Xavier and Dauphine.

This book is heavy on the plot and it just worked perfectly for me. There isn’t a single thing that was predictable and there are some unexpected turn of events as well as a slight hint of suspense towards the end of the book. I highly recommend this one! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Every book I have read by Tasha Boyd is exceptional & Broken French was a heartbreakingly beautiful story. Xavier & Josie’s connection & chemistry was off the charts. His darling daughter Dauphine was an integral part of their love story too. Any book written by Tasha Boyd is worth the wait…even three years doesn’t matter when she writes such beautiful, unique stories that transport you into her characters’ world. Her stories are to be treasured and Broken French is no exception.

This is a new author for me. I’m so glad I discovered her. Love this romance. It has all the right ingredients for a lovely, delightful story. Just the right balance. Love the characters. The writing was good, so much so that I saw the story come to life as I read. Certainly worth reading.

I saw R.S. Grey recommending this one a month or so ago and I added it straight to my TBR. I love to see what my favourite authors are enjoying

When Josephine suddenly quits her job as an architect she's convinced by her best friend and roommate to take a job with her company to nanny for a high profile, French billionaire. The only rule Tabitha gives her is to not fall for the hot, billionaire French client. Josephine initially thinks it'll be an easy rule to follow, that is until she meets him.

From the outset this gave my major Close Quarters by Kandi Steiner vibes but I definitely connected with the characters better in Broken French and also enjoyed the added dynamic the single parent trope gave. The setting was exquisite and wether they were on the boat or off exploring the French towns dotted along the coast Tasha wrote the places with such a wonderful level of detail that I could imagine myself there.

Any fans of the single dad trope will love this one, I'm sure. Xavier was a magnificent hot, billionaire but as a father he was perfection. Both Xavier and his daughter Dauphine had been through so much heartache but their relationship together and also their growing relationship with Josephine really elevated this book for me.

This was the first I've read from this author but I'm really keen to try some more.
