About the author

Cat Writer Mollie Hunt is the award-winning author of two cozy series: the Crazy Cat Lady Mysteries featuring a sixty-something cat shelter volunteer who finds more trouble than a cat in catnip, and the Tenth Life Paranormal Mysteries involving a ghost cat. Her Cat Seasons Sci-Fantasy Tetralogy presents extraordinary cats saving the world. She recently released a COVID memoir which she calls, "a tale of a plague and politics, of depression and inspiration, and an ode to the very real and healing presence of cats." In her spare time, she pens a bit of cat poetry as well.
Mollie is a member of the Oregon Writers’ Colony, Sisters in Crime, the Cat Writers’ Association, Willamette Writers, and Northwest Independent Writers Association (NIWA). She lives in Portland, Oregon with her husband and a varying number of cats. Like her cat lady character, she is a grateful shelter volunteer.
Praise for Mollie Hunt, Cat Writer:
“I know Mollie as a true, dyed-in-the-wool cat person, as a cat guardian and a foster parent and, most importantly, as a human being. One thing I can spot a mile away is true passion... and Mollie Hunt has it. People like Mollie are rare in this world because they infuse their own curiosity… with true empathy... the recipe for not only a quality person, but, in the end, a great artist as well.”

- Reviewed in the United States on August 14, 2016A really enjoyable short story. Well worth the reading time. I liked the heroine, the plot moved quickly, and the author created a intriguing story in this quick read.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 17, 2016I don't read many short stories especially those about animals. Having said that, I liked reading this one until I got to the end, the ending was flat. I needed to see what was inside the toy that Kitten aka Spot rolled under the frig and what happened to the money and who were the "crooks" really after and how the heck did that kitten get into that duffle bag !! I want to read more Crazy Cat Lady books.Very well written, kept me reading to the end, the ending was flat, probably to encourage the reader to get more books by this author. That tactic worked for me. The author's writing is good I knew right away this was not by a newbie writer. The attempt to rescue the cat gave me great mental images and reminded me of the time I rescued a kitten, intended to take to Humane Society but ended up keeping for the next 10 years. The memories brought back for me were so nice to remember.
For giving an honest review I got this book at no cost from Pubabook.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 30, 2016What a cute short story by Mollie Hunt. Cat's Cradle lets the reader get to know Lynley Cannon a little better and shows the reader just how much she adores cats and how far she will go for these animals.
As Lynley is walking she hears a faint meow and in the area that she is in, she knows that it can't be a good thing. So while she follows the sounds coming from the kitten, she finds that the kitten is in a gym bag in an old warehouse. Unfortunately the zipper is stuck so she cannot rescue the kitty. As she ponders what to do she hears footsteps and tries to find a place to hide. She takes off with the gymbag while someone is shooting at her.
Why is someone shooting at her ? Why is the kitten stuck inside of a gymbag ? What else is in the gymbag ? Is this the end for her ??
For Cat's Cradle being a short story there is a lot going on. So if you find you have a few minutes of spare time, Cat's Cradle is just right for you !!!

- Reviewed in the United States on March 31, 2017A fun, fast little adventure that starts with a cat in trouble and the sound of gun shot. A perfect quick read for cat (and mystery) lovers.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 6, 2018I enjoyed this, but honestly it was more like reading a preview of "the next book in the series". There was a lot left unsolved at the end of this (as a previous reviewer noted.) But the copyright is 2016 so books have been written since then that don't involve this episode...
- Reviewed in the United States on August 27, 2019Fun, entertaining read! I love this series.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 21, 2022I received a free copy of this story when I subscribed to the author's newsletter. I'm not a cat person, but you don't have to be to enjoy a well-written, fast-paced story. Of course, it's a teaser to invite you into the series, but that's a wonderful strategy--you know you'll be getting well-edited, thoroughly engaging stories by an author at the top of her game. My thanks to the author for this little kitten-sized gem!
