I've just finished reading 'Comorbidities' by James C. Harberson III and let me tell you I still got the chills from the magnificent world of this beautiful mind I was just exposed to.

'Comorbidities' is the wonderful result of three sublime novellas based on crazy, out of this world ideas morphed into tales that include an invasion of weaponized cats, mad reincarnated serial-killers, celebrity-grave robbery, sociopathic spiritual gurus, apparition psychotherapy, military misbehavior, and... well.. lots of gore.

    The juice :

Cat Problem: A cheerleader goes above and beyond in order to rescue the love of her life from invading weaponized cats turned into killing machines, attacking their hometown. Super cute fluffs, turned into the ultimate death dealers? Super fun beyond belief. And gory beyond imagination.

Ghost Problems: A Hollywood spiritualist falls for an actress whose new reality show is stalked by a reincarnated serial killer. The result is pure chaos.

Lost and Found: A Hollywood super agent enlists a celebrity-grave robber and a tough cult deprogrammer to rescue a troubled starlet from a flim-flamming spiritual guru. This is really crazier and way more fun than it sounds.

Are you intrigued? You should be.
The author possesses one of the most unique, super creative types of storytelling I came across the horror genre recently.

The continuous flow of crazy ideas and delightful characters follows the author's other beautiful gem of a book, 'A Disgusting Supermarket of Death' and keeps building on his wonderful and unique brand of horror.

You thought you've figured out how a story will progress? Think again as you are in for an unforgettable horror joyride; One that you won't be able to stop talking about.

A fantastic, crazy crazy reading experience.

This author is probably one of the most unique authors in the horror genre. He writes bizzare and quirky stories with very interesting characters that will stick with you!

3 novellas, all amazing! Cat Problem was my favorite but don’t let me sway you in anyway.

Highly recommended and perfect for a weekend read. Enjoy!!

    Cormorbidities contains three novellas:

The first story “Cat Problems” is about feral cats that get taken and experimented on to be used as future “biodegradable weapons”, but then the cats get loose and start attacking the small town while a cheerleader and her militant shop-class teacher go on a rescue mission.

In “Ghost Problems” Ajax falls in love with an actress starring in a haunted house reality show. With his ability to speak to the dead, he tries to stop a reincarnated serial killer from killing his crush on the show.

The final story “Lost and Found” features an agent who hires grave robbers and a cult-deprogrammer to save an actress from a spiritual guru.

Honestly, my overall experience with this book wasn’t that great, it was too silly for me to enjoy. But that’s also because I’m not a fan of this sort of writing style with the stories shifting POV’s from multiple colorful characters sprinkled in with really outrageous ideas and paired with crude language. It reminds me of Chuck Palahniuk’s style, which isn’t my thing.
I will say that while I still had some issues with it, I did enjoy the second story titled “Ghost Problems”. I really thought it had a good premise of a reincarnated serial killer invading a haunted house reality show with the MC being a shrink to the dead. It had fun moments and it’s the only reason for the stars I’m rating this book.

While I personally wouldn’t recommend this book, especially to cat owners… I feel like readers of over-the-top, unhinged horror/comedy might enjoy this.

This is a gripping batch of stories from one of my favorite horror authors. Perfect as a beach read as long as nobody is reading over your shoulder, else you may have some explaining to do.

A excellently written gore-fest in Harberson's unique style. Couldn't put it down. With greater depth and character development than his shorter stories from the past, Harberson has truly comes into his own in the genre. Each of his stories would make for a classic Creep Show episode.

While I enjoyed the entire book, Cat Problem was so perfectly insane and entertaining, I hope they make it into a movie. Obviously not for the faint of heart, pick it up if you've set aside some time in advance. I expect you'll read it cover to cover in one sitting (as I did). Harberson's genius truly shines in Comorbidities.

Very original, fast-paced stories. Highly entertaining, humorous, and full of gore and wit. Each story flows and is a nonstop ridiculously fun time. Great read!

This book was so delicious I cooked it and ate it. If this sort of thing is for you, you know who you are and you've probably already read it, or perhaps it's simmering on your stove with sliced shallots as I type these words. I hope you're feeling at least a twinge of shame - as you should, you sick, depraved thing. Enjoy.

This book delivers gore, wit, and fun in a fast-moving and satisfying collection of stories. You’ll tear through it even as you do the occasional double-take at a turn of phrase or horror allusion. Highly recommended!
