Capturing Gabriel: Romancing the Guardians, Book Three Kindle Edition

4.2 out of 5 stars 23 ratings

What’s a handsome Colombian psychic with super-hero-power to do with a spirited Navajo beauty who invades his territory? Why, kidnap her of course. Chopper pilot Josie Tseda served in Afghanistan, extracting soldiers from deadly situations. She knows how to take care of herself. But when she vows to find Gabriel Valdez, a Guardian of Danu, and deliver him to a gathering of the Council of Guardians, she may have bitten off more than she can chew. Locating Gabriel in the mountains of Colombia is hard enough. Josie didn’t count on ending up his prisoner – or on falling for him.

Gabriel is battling Colombian drug traffickers and seeking revenge against the man who murdered his mother. He’s not looking for romance and doesn’t trust the feisty American female who wants to fly him off to the U.S. The message she conveys directing him to return with her, supposedly coming from the High Guardian, may be a lie to ensnare him and steal the precious scroll he guards. Yet, he can’t help wanting her. Will he allow her to capture his heart or will the secret power he wields ultimately drive her away?

Editorial Reviews

Review

This book has it all; adventure, violence, sexual tension, magic, and a heart-rending family history to hold it alltogether. I think Gabriel is my favorite character so far, and it makes myheart ache for him at the same time for the burden he has to carry. What morecould a reader ask for? - BigAl's Books and Pals

"Capturing Gabriel by Lyn Horner is part romance, part action, part paranormal and 100% entertainment . . . gives us a chance to smile, knowing that, the only ones fighting their attraction are the mouthy and headstrong Josie and the quietly alpha Gabriel! Definitely not heavy or dark reading, this has heat, tension and a great author behind a wonderful plot!" - Tome Tender

"Josie is such a spunky character, I instantly fell in love with her. Gabriel, on the other hand, is a Latin lover and is hot, hot, hot. This book has sex, romance, secrets, and surprises. I loved this book and look forward to more." - Paranormal Romance Guild

Lyn Horner resides in Fort Worth, Texas – “Where the West Begins” – with her husband and several very spoiled cats. Her two grown children live within easy driving distance along with a gaggle of delightful grandkids.

Trained in the visual arts at the prestigious Minneapolis College of Art and Design, Lyn worked as a fashion illustrator and art instructor for a number of years before turning to her longtime love of writing. She takes pride in crafting passionate love stories, both historical and contemporary. When not writing, Lyn enjoys reading, gardening, genealogy, visiting with family and friends, and cuddling her furry, four-footed children.

The author’s Texas Devlins series blends authentic Old West settings, steamy romance and a glimmer of paranormal. This series has earned multiple awards and nominations, including Crowned Heart reviews and a Rone Award nomination from InD’Tale Magazine.

Lyn was a contributor to Rawhide ʼn Roses, a Western Romance Anthology. This book was a finalist in the 2015 RONE Awards anthology category. Lyn was also part of the bestselling western Christmas anthology Silver Belles and Stetsons. Regrettably, these books are no longer available. However, she is represented in The Posse, a historical western anthology available on Amazon.

Jumping from the American Old West to the present time, Lyn immersed herself in her eight-book romantic suspense series, Romancing the Guardians. These books combine her trademark flashes of psychic phenomena with Irish folklore and a chilling pre-apocalyptic theme. Along the way, readers are treated to thunderous action, terrifying suspense and sizzling romance in places around the world.

I don't know Lyn Horner does it. I love this series and she packs so much action into these short books. I never feel cheated. This book was esspecially cool as it takes place mostly in South America. Josie an ex chopper pilot is sent by the Guardians to locate and bring Gabriel back to the states for his own protection. Only Gabriel has his own little war going on with drug lords and he's pretty certain Josie has been sent by them and that she might actually be one of the "Hell Hounds" that she says are after the the artifact that he is protecting. I don't want to give away the story because how these two finally come to terms "is" the story. But it's non-stop action action packed with a passionate attraction neither can seem to avoid despite the mistrust between them. For a short, thrill ride with great romance thrown into the mix, I highly recommend this book.

    A definite buy book.

A book that has many elements that made it a good read. From action and adventure to magic and passion. I found this book to be a good read. I love the characters and the plots. I enjoyed the way the story unfolded. If I could ask for anything more, it would of been a longer book! The authors writing is creative as well as engaging. So buy the book and enjoy. I was given this book in return for an honest review. Anna

Ms Horner's Guardian series has reeled me in and I can't wait to read the next. So far, I've admired each of the heroes and heroines and read fast to keep up with the action. I'll read each of this series to find out who the Guardians overcome evil.

This is the third book in the Romancing the Guardians series in which Josie, a Navajo chopper pilot, must find Gabriel and deliver him back to the council. This book has suspense, action and a journey to love for these characters as they overcome obstacles to complete the mission.

Ebook from Netgalley and publishers with thanks. Opinions are entirely my own.

Josie Tseda is totally out of her element on this mission to collect Gabriel Valdez from the midst of the Colombian mountains. Gabriel is busy fighting his own war in hostile territory and has no reason to believe Josie’s far-fetched tale of murder and intrigue. The action and tension start early in this story. Josie must learn to change her tactics and go along with Gabriel for her own safety; in the process she is able to learn more about the man who holds her captive. As her trust grows, Gabriel lets his guard down a little at a time.

As their mutual respect increases so does the passion neither one of them can deny. Showing that vulnerability, though, is another story for both of them. They are both warriors, so getting them to fight for a kindred cause at the same time is the biggest problem. Being a guardian of an ancient scroll complicates Gabriel’s quest to avenge his mother’s death against the local drug cartel. He is an honorable man and believes in both causes.

This book has it all; adventure, violence, sexual tension, magic, and a heart-rending family history to hold it all together. I think Gabriel is my favorite character so far, and it makes my heart ache for him at the same time for the burden he has to carry. What more could a reader ask for?

FYI: Capturing Gabriel is book three in Lyn Horner’s Romancing the Guardians series, following Rescuing Lara and Decoding Michaela. I would recommend reading this series in order. This book does contain sexual situations that may offend some. **Originally written for "BigAl’s Books and Pals" book blog. May have received a free review copy.** September 2, 2016
