...I would havesworn there was no way to include costumed vigilantes in a cozy and have it beanything but ridiculous. Yet, after reading this, my hat is off to the authorfor writing the plot into a cozy with skill and panache.

Cat Writer Mollie Hunt is the award-winning author of two cozy series: the Crazy Cat Lady Mysteries featuring a sixty-something cat shelter volunteer who finds more trouble than a cat in catnip, and the Tenth Life Paranormal Mysteries involving a ghost cat. Her Cat Seasons Sci-Fantasy Tetralogy presents extraordinary cats saving the world. She recently released a COVID memoir which she calls, "a tale of a plague and politics, of depression and inspiration, and an ode to the very real and healing presence of cats." In her spare time, she pens a bit of cat poetry as well.

Mollie is a member of the Oregon Writers’ Colony, Sisters in Crime, the Cat Writers’ Association, Willamette Writers, and Northwest Independent Writers Association (NIWA). She lives in Portland, Oregon with her husband and a varying number of cats. Like her cat lady character, she is a grateful shelter volunteer.

Praise for Mollie Hunt, Cat Writer:

“I know Mollie as a true, dyed-in-the-wool cat person, as a cat guardian and a foster parent and, most importantly, as a human being. One thing I can spot a mile away is true passion... and Mollie Hunt has it. People like Mollie are rare in this world because they infuse their own curiosity… with true empathy... the recipe for not only a quality person, but, in the end, a great artist as well.”

Plan to read all in this series. A great and fun read for all cat people!

Although this is a "cozy" story, I like that it is not too cozy to contain a violent death or two. I like the way the protagonist takes a few lumps along the way but keeps going. After reading the rest of the series, it is fun to re-meet personalities from previous books and recognize their foibles and their growth. I especially like the fictitious Portland eateries that sound so yummy.

I've read the whole series. I loved them. Can't wait for the next one to come out.

Since I’ve been called a crazy cat lady myself, how could I not love a cozy mystery series called the “Crazy Cat Lady Mysteries”? The sixth book in this series takes place at a Comic-con where Captain Cat is murdered.

Lynley Cannon is a volunteer at a cat shelter and has eight of her own kitties. She attends the Comic-con to assist a colleague, but when Captain Cat is killed, her colleague is arrested for the crime. Lynley is sure of her innocence and vows to find the real killer. It’s not long before she realizes she could be in danger herself.

I don’t want to give away too much of the plot, but I will say this story moves along at a steady pace with a wide variety of unique characters throughout the story. Not to mention that we even get some kitties with their own personalities mixed in.

I love how the cats are part of the story. They don’t have any mystical powers and don’t talk, but they add so much to this story. Lynley’s love for cats is very clear and realistic. I can totally identify with her need to help every cat she runs across.

The story itself is well-written and I was surprised at the ending. There were so many possible culprits, but I was totally off base on figuring it all out. The author did a good job at surprising me. I haven’t read all of the Crazy Cat Lady Mysteries (I found them late in the series), but I intend to catch up. I didn’t feel lost at all as the mystery is contained in this book.

I think if you are a cat lover, you will enjoy this. Even if you aren’t, it’s a good mystery that keeps your attention until the end.

FTC Disclosure: I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher. I was not required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are my own.

It makes me very happy when people who love cats and other “companion” animals start to see that farmed animals are just as worthy of consideration and should be left off the menu. The Crazy Cat Lady Mystery series by Portland author Mollie Hunt is moving in that direction.

I have enjoyed all of the previous cozy mysteries in this series but was especially pleased that in this one there is a sympathetically portrayed vegan woman who is also a cat shelter philanthropist. Also, the chapters begin with either some simple and tasty vegan recipes or invaluable tidbits of cat lore and wisdom.

You will appreciate “Cosmic Cat” on many levels if you love cats, cat people, and Portland in all their quirkiness, and will be delighted to see how cats, just being themselves, can come to the rescue. The mixture of suspense and humor is very compelling. I recommend that you cuddle up with a cat or two and prepare to be entertained. I am already looking forward to the next in the series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love cosy mysteries, cats, and a great storyline that wont give you a bad night? Then this is it

Well, this has to be the best one in the series to date, and how Mollie or her lead character will top this one is anyones guess. More of everything that makes a cosy mystery a great read, and none of the stuff will send you to the medicine cupboard for tranquilizers. Added bonus for those who like cats is there is some darned cute cats in this too, who also get in on the act.
Good fun read and a pleasure to buy.
