Catch Me If I Fall: A Second Chance Gay Romance Kindle Edition

4.0 out of 5 stars 217 ratings

Two ex-best friends.
Fifteen years apart.
One heart-pounding hometown reunion.

Cole

Jasper Fox was my first friend, my first fantasy, and my first heartbreak. When I confessed my crush at seventeen and he pulled away, I got scared and left town without saying goodbye. Fifteen years later, we’re both back in Sugar Hills, and all I want is closure. But when he proposes a flashback tour through our friendship, all my feelings come flooding back.

When our reunion leads to romance, is the fall worth the pain of losing Jasper again?

Jasper

By the time I realized I'm not so straight, Cole was gone, and I was confused and alone.

Now I’m back home, between jobs, and looking for a second chance. I need Cole to know he was never just my best friend. The closer we get, the less I want to be without him, even knowing I’ll eventually be leaving town again for my dream job. Maybe it’s my turn to put my heart on the line so I can prove to Cole my feelings are real.

I didn't know how to catch him when we were kids, but I'm finally ready for one last fall.

Catch Me If I Fall is a best-friends-to-strangers-to-lovers, second chance, MM romance that also features meddling friends, a curious library cat, and a fluffy fall small town Canadian setting. It's low angst, swoony, steamy, and packed with tons of early 2000s nostalgia.

Where do I begin? This book’s blurb is what hooked me. The read was a delight and just a [chef’s kiss]. Steele is a wonderful spinner of tales and left me feeling warm and cozy. Jasper and Cole are an absolutely adorable couple.

In the mood for a cozy rainy day read that'll leave you smiling? Grab a hot beverage, find a comfy place to lounge, and curl up with this heartwarming love story.

Former inseparable best friends Cole and Jasper haven't spoken in the 15 years since a misunderstanding splintered both their friendship and their hearts. With Jasper's return to their small hometown that teems with shared childhood memories, what begins as a tentative rekindling of their friendship quickly leads to more as deep long-bottled feelings can no longer go unspoken or unexplored.

Jasper's sentiments (and my favorite quote in the book) perfectly sums up their journey: "Forget the past," Jasper said, squeezing my hand in his. "And forget the future. Maybe we have to let go of 'us' so there can be an 'us'?"

I really enjoyed this super sweet and swoony (and steamy) second chance romance. Cole and Jasper are such likeable and thoughtful guys, fun spending time together, and so loving and caring toward each other - as friends and as lovers - that one can't help but root for their HEA from the start. Their healing nostalgia tour down memory lane is quite sweet and amusing, too. I received an advance reading e-copy of this book and have left this honest review voluntarily. (Also read in KU.)

Cute second chance story of childhood best friends and small town vibes.

My only complaint was how much both MCs “shouted/howled/roared/screamed/yelled”. It was just a bit much.

But if Evan gets a story I’ll come back to this

I'm not ashamed to admit I screamed my way through the majority of this novel.

These two idiots are absolutely perfect for each other and I'm so proud that they finally managed to get through their teenage idiocy to be together.

And let's just say, even the solo shower scenes were the best kind of smut. Noah only gets better with each book, and I cannot wait for the next one!

Noah Steele has a knack for writing characters I instantly fall in love with, and Cole and Jasper, the MC's Catch Me If I Fall, were no exception. Cole and Jasper are best friends. Right before high school graduation, Cole confesses to Jasper, that he is in love with him. Both being scared for different reasons, years pass, with neither of them being in touch with each other. When Jasper comes back to town, they hope to rekindle their friendship, and maybe something more. There are hurt feelings, friendship, love, and humor to be found between them both, as they embark upon a nostalgia tour, doing things they planned to do, the summer of their senior year.

I abosolutely loved Cole and Jasper. I loved seeing these best friends come together. Their nostalgia tour was great. My geeky heart loved all the references. For me, Noah Steele always write fantastic characters. I am always rooting for them. One of the things that I also really love about Noah's wriiting, is that he is so good writing character friendships. The friendship scenes in his books are always favorites of me. And in Catch, he created another great one, between Evan and Jasper.

Catch Me If I Fall is a best friends to lovers romance, fille with passion, trips down memory lane, and one awesome cat!

... but not magical, I love second chance romance, but there were too many angry fueled moments, that were dragged out past painful reading.

This was a super sweet second chance, friends to lovers story. I loved Cole and Jasper both. They were both the perfect match for the other. After breaking each other’s hearts in high school they went 15 years without speaking to each other. (This is the reason I gave it 4 stars instead of five. I just didn’t find it believable that after being best friends for nearly their entire life they would just never speak again over a misunderstanding. Especially since Jasper knew it was a misunderstanding. )

After reuniting they decide to try to be friends again, but as they spend time together they both can’t deny their feelings. I really enjoyed their dynamic and the ups and downs they went through. Their friends were great supporting characters too.

Cole & Jasper got the happy ending they deserved and this book definitely left me smiling.

I did receive a free ARC of this book but that did not influence my review.

I love how sweet and sincere the characters were, and I love that there was emotional conflict but it never veered into anything too dark or angsty angsty--this is the perfect book if you love soft, heartwarming romances with HAE♡ sometimes you just need a cute cozy romance, and this hits the spot JUST right!

This is a low angst, love filled read of best friends reuniting after 15 years. Love is on the agenda, and finding a way forward together when both are scared of being hurt again.
Written well, and a delightful read not hard but so much more than light reading. Food for the soul.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sweet second chance with his bestfriend

Trope: former bestfriend to lovers, second chance, awakening.

I really didn't know what to expect. First book by this author and I was not disappointed. I was afraid that there would be a lot of resentment about the past and the author knew how to express all the sadness and heartbreak that it brings to their lives with a good dose.

No flashback due to a prologue well in place, written in an incredible way, not too long, straight to the point without detour where we discover the two friends and their emotional torments. We also deduce their personalities. One anxious and lost who often turns to the other who finds solutions.

Sweet story, no angst even after everything it feel more like regret and longing. After 15 those bestfriend, two in the same peas, reunited back and try to forget the past and live in the present without future.... but when feelings get involve, the future is scarier. Follow those idiots doubts about their love, their bonding and their feelings for each others, always speculating the worst and finally getting the best.

The author does a remarkable job of keeping us interested in their reunion, a sweet story filled with love and possibility. But even then I remove 1 star because I lose interest in the book at 60% where all were going right but doubt submerge.
Will they make the right choice 15 years later or will they make the same mistakes?

Cole & Jasper were best friends when they were younger, until Cole told Jasper he had a crush on him, then Jasper left quickly.

When they meet up again, they decide to revisit a few favorite places in order to get closure.

However, they might end up getting more than that after they spend some time together.

I had a bit of a hard time believing that revisiting a bunch of familiar places would result in giving them closure. I also thought opening a gallery in a small town might not work long-term, but that Cole could easily have written books anywhere, so the ending wasn't realistic.

It was a bit predictable at times, but still nice to read.
