    Both Maya Nicole and Britt Andrews are fantastic authors on their own, so I knew this would be a great book. They did not disappoint. The emotions they write into these characters are true and raw. Kalen, is a rising junior in college that is looking to get drafted into the big leagues. When his name is not called on draft night he finds himself at the local bar. College classes are not his strong suit, so not getting drafted means taking a summer course to up his GPA. With this on his mind, his buddies and the girls are the last thing he wants to deal with. So while getting drunk at the bar he meets a guy who buys him a drink. A drink turns into something he has never thought about. Monroe sees a guy that calls to him in every way. Knowing this guy is straight doesn’t stop his thoughts one bit. The next week Kalen walks into his summer class, to find Monroe the professor…things change and Kalen has to face some hard questions. The book really does draw you in, so I am not going to give away anymore. These characters and their story felt real, and the supportive characters helped make this just as much. Not just another college M/M sports story, it has depth and heart.

    As this was my first mm read, I was a little apprehensive about this book holding my interest. All I can say is damn. This duo of authors did an amazing job!! It held my interest right from the start, kept me wanting more and did I mention the steamy chemisty? I've never been one to find strictly mm intriguing, but reading Kalen and Monroes story has changed that. Their story was well delivered and thoughtful, diving into struggles both personally and as a couple. I loved watching Kalen grow and find his strength, Monroe open up to love again and the friendships deepen. The banter was fun, the steam was hot, and dang the chemistry was off the charts! Definitely recommend, even if mm isnt your favorite. It was a great read! I can't wait to read Baker's story!!

    I feel… conflicted. On one hand I really enjoyed the witty banter and the steam of this book! The chemistry was hot that’s for sure. On the other hand I had some issues. First off Monroe was EXTREMELY pushy when he hit on kalen the first time and given that kalen was obviously uncomfortable I was pretty turned off by Monroe right away. He did get better as the story went on but I couldn’t forget his borderline manipulative approach at first. About 7% in I went to check if these authors usually write MF and from what I see they do which makes a lot more sense. I got the feeling often that I was reading the stereotypical strong pushy bordering on manipulative man/ meek woman that doesn’t know what she wants until a man forced her to see it dynamic that so often comes in MF romance but just with two men. Which is frankly not my favorite in either genre. I thought the middle of the book was better than the beginning and end. I found the end chaotic and to have unnecessary drama just for dramas sake then a lot of loose ends that weren’t really explained or tied up. I did absolutely love Baker! He was by far my favorite character (a close second was Nikki though)! The other thing that bugged me was that the statement “I’m clean” shouldn’t ever be used in a conversation about sexual health. Having an STI doesn’t make you dirty and it’s insulting. A simple “I’m negative” is a much better approach. I wanted to love this because I love a teacher/student and jock romance but this was just okay with a side of problematic for me.

    That cover threw me--Kalen is a catcher on a northern California college team but I've never seen a catcher of any age that buff, so I bought it and dove right in.

    That Kalen is a typical idiot college jock who has had plenty of experience with females but none with men. That brought me up a bit short, especially when he's obviously being hit upon in a bar by Monroe Jackson, who is a few years older and without a doubt the hottest man Kalen has ever seen in his life.

    Sure, and how would he come up with that? Because he is drunk after taking a pity plunge into booze after not being selected in the Major League Baseball draft. That Monroe manages to semi-seduce Kalen and then the very next day wind up as his professor in a must-pass summer school class is, of course, ridiculously serendipitous. But this is fiction and it works.

    Oh, how it works!

    Of course it's a forbidden relationship, not only because a teacher is barred from a relationship with a student, but also because Kalen's father, who failed to make the major leagues after an injury, not only harasses Kalen to overachieve but is also homophobic.

    That neither of those problems seem to bother Kalen and Monroe as they go from casual sex to deep love is the one thing that a reader might toss into the cocked-eyebrow box. When both those situations hit the fan, however, we are thrown a huge curve-ball-sinker-spitball that is completely unexpected.

    What is exceptional about that pitch is that it leads to a fairly shocking denouement and a huge surprise in a post-script promo for the next book in the series which has a title that shocked me. I am still buzzing and hope it will come out soon because this one was so good.

    Being able to follow Kalen’s journey of discovery from beginning to end is something I didn’t even know I needed, but loved.
    Watching his and Monroe’s feelings go from attraction to love and how they fight for their love was everything.

    If you love MM or even just a good old fashioned love story with a bit of taboo, then I highly recommend Catching Kalen!

    I absolutely loved this book from the minute I opened it, even the dedication is heart felt and spoke volumes about the way the authors wrote this story.

    I don't usually read MM and I have never read a sports romance so I don't have a comparison but to me this is just how all good romance books should be written, with so much love and full of heart.

    Kalen is your typical college guy, his life revolves around baseball and his friends until he finds someone he never knew he needed, who brings a happiness and balance to his life he never expected and who makes everything worthwhile.

    Monroe, I liked him so much he knew what he wanted from the moment he met Kalen and I loved how their relationship developed.

    Of course nothing is one hundred percent plain sailing. There's always got to be a little drama in books but my gosh what they threw in here made my heart ache. I went through an array of emotions in this book, maybe shed a tear or two but ultimately it left me happy. I felt a lot of joy reading this.

    Baker is my MVP in this book and I was so happy when I saw he was getting a book...I may have done a little jig!

    Overall a lovely stand alone romance book that deals with important real life issues along the way.

    I loved how their relationship developed from early on in the book and you could see how much they loved each other. TW for abuse from parent within the story but was written really well. There was some angst but not too angsty and the angst wasn't dragged out either thankfully.
