Things are getting ruff in this Brooklyn neighborhood when new veterinarian Caleb Fitch moves in next door to the Whitman Street Cat Café and gets on the wrong side of café owner Lauren Harlow. Lauren has a few things to teach the new vet on the block, and rescuing kittens is only the start...
Lauren can't ignore her attraction to Caleb, but he gets her even more riled up when he argues with her about how best to treat the cats in her care. Determined to smooth things over, Caleb comes to the rescue when a new litter of abandoned kittens is left on Lauren's doorstep, and they confront the fiery attraction that's been building between them from the start. PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
McMurray (Domestic Do-over) offers up some irresistible animal magnetism in this quirky romance. Lauren Harlow is the manager of Whitman Street Cat Café in Brooklyn, serving up coffee and kitten cuddles while helping cats find their forever homes. Though Lauren has sworn off men ever since her ex-boyfriend announced his engagement to another woman, she's immediately attracted to Caleb Fitch, the new veterinarian at the clinic next door. But Caleb, who's just moved to Brooklyn after his recent and messy divorce, is a dog person and, worse, he initially disapproves of Lauren's business. So though Caleb returns Lauren's attraction, their great sexual chemistry is all these sparring hearts have in common—until a determined developer starts buying up the neighborhood and sets his eyes on their building, and their love-hate relationship becomes the least of their worries. Colorful locals and the leads' convincing chemistry give this romance its sizzle, but it's the four-legged costars that steal the show. Animal lovers are sure to be charmed.
Customer Reviews
MC’s Committment Issues Are Painful To Deal With
So the male MC was not ready to commit. And you were trying to yell at the female MC the whole time, “GET OUT! It’s not going anywhere!!”
If I didn’t have a thing about finishing books, I would have quit about 3/4 of the way through because it was just so frustrating that Caleb would make progress on his issues and then immediately be like, “just kidding!”. It was like suffering through a real man’s issues for hundreds of pages, not a fun romance novel. And I appreciate a good slow burn!
The highlight of the book is The Cat Cafe and some of the supporting characters. But overall, I found this to be almost annoying at times and it left loose ends that should have been tied up regardless of more books in the series. Read at your own risk! 🫠
