Cheshire in Heartsland: An MM Shifter Paranormal Fantasy Romance (Wonderland Ever After Book 2) Kindle Edition
Cheshire is determined to convince King Rei to give them a second chance at happily ever after. But what if the only way to do that is for the cat shifter to team up with his enemy?
I could sulk about King Rei choosing his duty to his kingdom over our relationship, but it’s way more fun to get payback by stealing his crowns. Of course, my favorite form of revenge is tempting my fated mate with what he could have if only he wasn’t so stubborn.
We’ve been playing our will-they-won’t-they game since he took the throne, but the stakes change when a rival prince arrives in Wonderland to try wooing away my beloved. As a master of mayhem and mischief, I’m prepared to chase off the unwanted interloper by any means necessary.
But I quickly discover that the little princeling isn’t what he seems. And what’s more ingenious than working with my enemy to catch Rei by surprise? After all, I said I’d do absolutely anything to win him back.
Will my efforts finally motivate Rei to let me claim him as my mate?
Cheshire in Heartsland is the second book in the Wonderland Ever After series. This sweet-with-heat MM paranormal fantasy romance features affectionate shifters, fated mates, second chances, and a royal gay romance. Escape into this Wonderland full of whimsy, where everyone gets a HEA without cliffhangers. Each book can be read as a standalone but is best enjoyed in order.

- Reviewed in the United States on January 6, 2023How many different ways can you say amazing?? Because all of them apply to Ariella and this series, well, really, all of her books. I was ready to go into this book hating Renner and expecting angst (even though she doesn't write like that). I didn't think there was any way to make this non angsty BUT she did! It was funny and sweet and just wonderful! I am looking forward to all the books in this series. Best shifter series I've ever read, I'm sure of it.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 1, 2023Cheshire in Heartland is the second book in the Wonderland Ever After series, a series with a new take on the Alice in Wonderland tales. This book is best read after the first book since there is a lot of worldbuilding and character development that took place in that book, however, you can still enjoy Cheshire’s antics and Rei’s emotional dilemma even if you read this book as a standalone. I find the world building really fascinating and I like seeing how the author expanded and built on the already established lore. The plot is fluffy and fun, and while it toys with the concept of angst, it pretty much skirts it completely and everything is kept light and sweet with a lot of humor. The book also wove in the setup for the third book where Prince Renner will finally find his happiness.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 27, 2022Ariella Zoelle has another grand slam with Cheshire in Heartsland. Cheshire was introduced in the first book of the series and was immediately a favorite. His adoration for King Rei was evident. We finally get to see how much King Rei adores him as well. The addition of a mischievous Prince Renner adds to the fun. His introduction to March was quite amusing. Cheshire’s story will pull at your heart strings and give you hope. If you enjoy low angst happily ever after a and happen to love a fated mates story, or if Cheshire has always been your favorite character from Wonderland, pick up this delight today. It is light and fun, and will make you laugh. I’m looking forward to see how Prince Renner gets up to more mischief in his tale with March.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 22, 2023I absolutely adore Cheshire. Honestly his romance stole the show in the first book for me so this was a very welcome read! I loved the contrast of his mischief with his tender heart and prince renner was interesting and now I can’t wait to read his story!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 29, 2022There is such a sense of whimsy and fun with this book. Cheshire is both charming and stubborn, determined to finally claim Rei. After their interactions in the first book reading as a 3 year long bout of foreplay, it was only a matter of time before Chess wore down Rei’s resolve and surprisingly, Prince Renner’s visit turns into the catalyst. The whole thing (other than the inscrutable Vivaltier) just comes across as joyful and playful, perfectly in keeping with the spirit of this Wonderland. The next book with Prince Renner and March should be quite interesting, depending where events pick up for them.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 31, 2022This series is a lot of fun and this story was so satisfying. I enjoyed Chesire in book 1. It was good to see him get his HEA with King Rei finally. I'm looking forward to Renner and March's story next.
I received an ARC and this is my unbiased opinion
- Reviewed in the United States on May 14, 2023This book was a PERF second book in this series! Our Cheshire finally gets his #KoHBae and it is🔥🔥🔥
I'm so excited to read about that Lil cutie Renner and his fated mate, GREAT series!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 30, 2022While I have not read the books that come before, I am familiar with the story it is based on so the characters are familiar.
It's very sweet, overly so with a bit of yearning after being separated for three years and the push and pull between Rei and Cheshire.
The blurb made it seem as if the story should have a more thrilling plot with Cheshire attempting to coerce his mate back to him. But it's very little of that happening, it's all over after a day and I found it a bit disappointing.
Perhaps if I had read the previous book I would be more part of their struggle to stay apart from each other. But I didn't really feel the need for it either.
If you enjoy sweet fated mate stories with steam, this is for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars For love and land
An excellent second book! It was made clear in the first book that Cheshire and Rei were mates, but getting them together was proving very difficult as Rei knew there was distrust for shifters in Wonderland, and Cheshire wouldn't let Rei know about their connection. It seemed that this would be an impossible feat to get past in this book but it was done just right.
Though there is some worry about loss and timing, this is not a read full of angst. The introduction of an outside character helps to bring a new perspective as well as shake things up. It finally gives Rei and Cheshire a chance, as well as looking into whether they always had a chance or if things have been different. It was really interesting both to get to see some more of the history of Wonderland as well as how things were now with the magic back.
The next story promises to bring things to another land, over to Mirrorland, along with some foretold problems and new characters to fix it. It promises to be just as good as the books so far and I look forward to reading it!

5.0 out of 5 stars grinning as wide as Chess!
Read the first book yesterday and this one today, how am I going to wait until December for the third one! Fell in love with the character. My favourite combination of low angst, romance and spice with sim humour. Loved it 😁
