Lori Foster continues her mix of passion and danger in her newest addition to her Body Armor series. Close Contact is the 3rd book in the Body Armor series and we get Miles’s story. He's one of the fighters from the last series. He’s new to Sahara's bodyguard agency. Two months ago Miles had three amazing nights with bar hook-up Maxi. He wanted more but it seemed she didn’t--she never called again, and just disappeared after their amazing time together. Maxi’s life got complicated and chaotic super-fast with the loss of both her mother and grandmother very close together then on top of finding out her fiancée was cheating on her. So she goes out and has a one night stand and that one night stand blew her mind. She ran but before she could get far, she ended up needing the services of Miles bodyguard firm and then Miles is back in her life as her bodyguard. Now that he's back in her life, Miles wants more from her…more answers, more trust, more openness but Maxi is so not to that point and she is just trying to shut down and freeze Miles out but that is something he refuses to let her do. The sexual chemistry, suspense and intrigue has this story as one of my favorites of Ms. Foster’s. I loved the connection between the main characters and the plot which has many twists and turns going. I sort of had an idea of who may have been after Maxi but really, it wasn’t until the end when everything came together in a huge BOOM and wow, loved the ending . I cannot wait until the next book comes out in this series.

While I loved this book, I didn't love it quite as much as books 1 & 2 in the series. It's still 4.5 stars for me. I love the idea of former MMA fighters turned bodyguards, and this series is so sexy and fun.

Miles Dartman, The Legend as he was known in his MMA days, is a former fighter, who had to give up his championship hopes, for reasons he's not willing to discuss with most people. 2 of his best friends, also former fighters, have become bodyguards for the Body Armor agency, and he's decided to follow them over. He never really gave much thought to his life beyond fighting, but this is working out great for him so far. When he gets dragged out of bed early in the morning by his new boss, Sahara Silver, to come to a mysterious meeting, he sees the last person he ever expected to see again.

Maxi Nevar is a mess. She lost her mom, and grandma, and found out her fiance was cheating, all in a very short period of time. After that upheaval, she goes out for a night to herself and meets Miles. They have an amazing night together, and that's all she planned for. But, she can't walk away from him, so she shows back up a second time, and a third. Then, she inherits her grandmother's farm house and land, and all the feral cats she took care of too. She knows she has too much going on for anyone else to deal with, so she pretty much ghosts on him. Her brother and sister expect her to sell the house and give them their share of the money, but she has no intention of doing that. Her grandmother wanted her to be there, taking care of her precious creatures, and she intends to honor that request. But, someone clearly doesn't want her there. There have been some very weird things happening in her house and on her property since she moved in. It's really starting to freak her out. Then, she wakes up outside, on the hard ground, in the far part of her yard, with no memory of how she got there, and she knows she needs serious help. She goes to the only person she can think of who's capable of helping her, and who she can trust, Miles.

Miles and Maxi's chemistry is strong, even though he's very angry about how she left things between them and just disappeared. He's never really been rejected before, especially not by someone he really felt like he connected with. She knows she's got a lot of explaining to do, and she's willing to do it, as long as he'll help her find out who's menacing her. She doesn't think she should try to subject anyone else to her life choices, since they're pretty out of the norm for a woman in her 20's, and she feels like Miles could have anyone, so why would he want her, especially in her current situation. They really had issues communicating, and I liked the way they worked to be honest and overcome them.

The suspense plot definitely brought excitement to the story, and there were so many viable suspects that I never could pin down who the culprit was until the end, which I always enjoy. It kept me guessing and hoping to figure it out before the reveal. There were quite a few curious characters in that small town, for sure! The pacing was great, and I love the worlds Lori Foster creates.

As always, the side characters here were top notch, mostly comprised of people from the prior 2 books, and even some from the prior Ultimate series, (where Miles, Justice, Brand, and Leese were side characters). I truly enjoy the boss of the agency Sahara. Her brother's disappearance is still a mystery that needs to be solved to her satisfaction, and it looks like her book is next, so I'm very excited for that. Overall this was a great addition to the series, and I always anxiously await more from this author!

I’m a fan of Lori Foster’s books, I usually preorder her books and I still have a few that I didn’t read yet, like Under Pressure and Hard Justice, so I started Close Contact without reading the first books in this series and honestly I regret it, not because I struggled to follow the story, I didn’t, however my curiosity about some of the characters is huge! I’ll definitely read both asap!

Miles is a MMA fighter who joins Body Armor, a bodyguard agency, he’s actually happy working there until his new client is someone he knows… intimately. Maxi enjoyed a few night stands with him, disappeared from his life and now she’s at Body Armor’s office trying to hire him. But then when she starts to explain why she needs protection, Mile’s protection, all of his instincts are roaring to protect her at any cost. And besides… Maxi has been on his mind a lot.

Maxi is a sweetheart, she never quite fit with her family, never had much luck in love and she feels like she never measured up to her mom’s expectations. She’s such a sweetheart! She’s trying so hard to honor the trust her grandmother put on her, it’s absolutely endearing.

Miles and Maxi are incredibly perfect for each other and I fell in love with both of them. Lori Foster balances suspense, romance, heat, danger, intrigue, an amazing plot and well crafted characters like no other. And the cameos… YES! If you’ve read Lori’s Ultimate series, you’re going to love to encounter again some of the guys. And Sahara, Miles’ boss, is an amazing secondary character, I can’t wait for her book.

Overall, if you love books with MMA figthers (or former MMA fighters), bodyguards, alpha males, lots of romance, suspense, intrigue and a little mystery, you’re going to love Close Contact.
