It’s not easy being someone you’re not.

Grayson Darling is suddenly the new Hollywood “it” guy and needs a break from stardom. As an American actor turned heartthrob, Gray rose to superstar status as a romantic lead on a popular streaming service – but it’s getting harder to hide who he really is.

To his legions of female fans, he’s a handsome, single and straight man.

But it’s all a made-for-TV lie.

Needing a holiday during the show’s summer hiatus, Gray books a stay at a rural Ireland B&B, where he hopes the scenery and solitude will spark creativity to finish his first screenplay. And allow him time to figure out who and what he wants to be to the world.

Gruff and steady Niall O’Reardon wonders if this is all life has to offer him now that he’s retired from the Gaelic football league and has taken over his family farm in Boyle, Ireland, where hard work is simply a fact of life. A place where dreams get shoveled up along with the sheep muck. He has no illusions that he’ll find the perfect love or start a family someday.

Until his new handsome American B&B guest shows up, messing with his ideas on what love is supposed to be, giving him hope that he can have it all and that perfect isn’t just a fantasy.

But choices must be made, and the truth has consequences. And hearts and reputations are on the line and need to be protected.

Maybe it’s a guy thing, but Gray was a lot more patient than I would’ve been. Niall was extremely childish and rude most of the time. He only lightened up when the chance at intimacy presented itself. Also, the pact that Grayson made with Niall’s father to keep his secret: unacceptable. Once you consider yourself in a relationship, there are some things that should not be kept a secret, I don’t care who you promised. I pretty much liked everything else, but those two things were enough to knock off a star each.

Premier M/M book by Kassidy which is the nom de plume of a well-established author of straight romance. I so enjoyed this first book that I already plan on reading the next one in this series of standalone stories!
Geoffrey Lancer aka Grayson Darling the darling for many a female because of his TV series playing WWII Army Captain Jonathan Levy is tired of being someone he’s not. His plan is to get away to a secluded location to write his own screenplay so that he can finally come out of the closet. What he doesn’t expect is Niall O’Reardon, big and strong former Gaelic football League player, now sheep farmer in Boyle, Ireland who is out and proud. Niall’s muscles come from hard work for his farm and B&B. Can Gray and Niall deny their attraction?
Loved their entertaining meet-cute. Their flirtatious teasing brings with it lots of fun internal dialogue. Oh. My. Word. Chapters 13 and finally, chapter 16. So HOT. The secondary characters are wonderful too. Nan in the barn when she first meets Grayson. That scene is so funny. Seamus, Nan and Niall’s father is a delight. Great ending too but not without pain. I volunteered to review an ARC of this book through Gay Romance Reviews. If you enjoy M/M romance which is funny, sweet and steamy, read this one. You won’t be disappointed.

Grayson is an American actor starring in a popular British TV show. He encounters fans wherever he goes and his life has changed drastically since he accepted the role. He rarely has time to relax so a quiet vacation in Ireland seemed like just what he needed. He would be away from the limelight, his adoring fans, the pressure of fame and his annoying co-star. Grayson could just imagine the rolling countryside, the quaint Irish pubs, and the solitude in which to work on his coveted screenplay.

He certainly did not expect the proprietor of the bed and breakfast to be a handsome sheep farmer whose twinkling eyes captured his attention the minute he arrived at the farm. Grayson definitely didn’t need a distraction during his stay but Niall was an interesting fellow, different from anyone he had ever met, and someone he wanted to know more about. Grayson felt safe at the isolated farm and he befriended the surly Niall who begrudgingly agreed to be his tour guide while he was visiting. Sparks flew whenever they were together and neither man knew what to do about their attraction.

Regardless of how they felt about each other, Grayson always kept his personal life private and Niall craved his peaceful life on the farm. What happens when the real world descends upon the farm, causing Grayson and Niall to make decisions they weren’t prepared to make? Will the luck of the Irish be on their side and bring them the happiness they both deserved?

I enjoyed the writing style of this author and how the story was developed. It was a shorter book so the feelings developed at a faced paced which in my opinion isn’t a huge issue, just a little rushed. It’s the endings that I had an issue with. You get to the point of hurt and then boom the characters are just magically together again, they don’t address any of the hurt and just move on to HEA. Like I said, it felt a little lacking. And this is my same opinion for her other book, Benny from the block. I do not like when authors just glaze over the hurt that was caused to the characters like everything that happened didn’t.

I received a copy of this book from Gay Romance Reviews, and this is my honest review.

Grayson is an extreme closeted gay American actor playing the leading man in a British Television show. His show is going on break between seasons so he decides to take some time to write his screenplay that he has been working on. His assistant books him a room in a bed and breakfast in Ireland. It is there he encounters a big burly sheep farmer that he cant take his eyes off. Grayson is instantly smitten, Niall is just his type.

Niall and Grayson become involved and find they are soulmates. Niall is dealing with his sister leaving on vacation the day before Grayson is due to arrive as well as a sick father he has no idea just how sick however. Grayson is traveling under his real name, Geoffrey Lancer.

All in all a very good book and if you enjoy sweet, steamy MM romance you will enjoy this one.

Star actor Grayson (AKA Geoffrey) heads to a small quaint B&B to finish a script. His host Niall, retired from footie, runs a sheep farm in County Roscommon. Kassim has both MCs pretty closeted, but the angst is middling and eventual heat hot. The finale and epilog are weak, however.

It said 'The End' after the last chapter and I nearly shut down the book. A writer should never put in an epilogue after saying 'The End'.
A pleasant-enough romance about the tv star and the grumpy farmer. Like another reviewer mentioned, the two male leads could have been interchanged with male/female leads. In fact I came back mid story after being away reading other books for a few days, and for a few pages I thought I was reading a female/male story.
I liked our show biz star Grayson, but with the last name 'Darling'; really?
A solid, if not mind-blowing, writing effort.

I did enjoy this book, but it kind of felt like the middle of it was missing. There wasn’t enough description of their time together for me to buy the “love” portion. I think it needed to be longer

3.0 out of 5 stars celebrity x farmer mm romance
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on September 17, 2023
the story sounded so interesting in the blurb but it was just okay.

it's a celebrity mm romance - one of the guys (grayson) is an actor and the other (niall) is a farmer.

grayson needs a break from his busy world to focus on writing his screenplay and ends up in a local b&b in ireland, which happens to be run by niall and his sister. the two end up spending a lot of time together, while niall's sister is away, and grow close. there is an element of instant lust/love but they do actually get to know each other a bit first before anything happens. their relationship is quite nice but ends abruptly when grayson has to leave for his job. on the same day, niall's dad passes away so it's a lot for him to deal and process with at once. niall has been scorned in the past but doesn't want to let this relationship go so he tracks grayson down again and they get back together, meaning that it ends on a happy note.

i currently have no plans to continue with this series but this might change in the future.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gorgeous Read!!

OMG! I loved this! Two absolutely gorgeous men, total opposites, one a happy TV star, the other a grumpy Irish sheep farmer, but sparks sure do fly. Niall came across as rude and grumpy at first, I wasn't sure if I even liked him, he was rather sneering with Gregory/Grayson. But the story evolved and it was wonderful, you've all got to read this! The first book by this author, I believe, under this name, they have many others under their other pen name. But i did get a scare near the end, when I reached the bottom of the page and saw 'The End' my mouth dropped open and I gasped "Whaaaaa! Noooooo!" But then I flicked the screen and saw the word Epilogue, what a flipping relief! That was not a nice trick K.C. Kassidy!!

The main leads in this wonderful, romantic story are Niall, a sheep farmer who is definitely out and Grayson, an actor and screenwriter who isn't out. Their attraction is instant and red hot although they both try to fight it. Niall's family love Grayson too but when the press discover them together it ends up all over the media. This book is beautiful and hot and I loved every character especially the two leads. It truly gives me the warm and fuzzies with some spice thrown in. This book needs to be read it you like MM romance.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun light read

I received an ARC of this from GRR and this is my honest review.

    3.5 stars.

I thought when I read the blurb that the story had real potential - hollywood actor needs a break and meets grumpy hot irish farmer. Sadly I was left feeling a little disappointed by the whole thing. I liked it fine, but it's not one that left me with a lasting impression and not one I think I'd ever want to go back and revisit.

I think maybe the characters didn't really click for me, I liked them but I wasn't ever rooting for them, and found that I wasn't all that invested in them. I did like the banter between Gray and Niall at the start, that was really good but then that all went away when they got together. It was all pretty sudden, from 0-soulmates and HEA. The ending almost took me by surprise, it was all so sudden and just ... ended. I couldn't believe I was so near the end because I was sure there was more story to come. But it just ... stopped. I did get the version with the epilogue but that didn't really go that far to assuage my disappointment with the ending.

So it was OK, not great.
