About the author

Robin Patchen is a USA Today bestselling and award-winning author of Christian romantic suspense. She grew up in a small town in New Hampshire, the setting of her Nutfield Saga books, and then headed to Boston to earn a journalism degree. After college, working in marketing and public relations, she discovered how much she loathed the nine-to-five ball-and-chain. After relocating to the Southwest, she started writing her first novel while she homeschooled her three children. The novel was dreadful, but her passion for storytelling didn’t wane. Thankfully, as her children grew, so did her writing ability. Now that her kids are adults, she has more time to play with the lives of fictional heroes and heroines, wreaking havoc and working magic to give her characters happy endings. When she’s not writing, she’s editing or reading, proving most of her life revolves around the twenty-six letters of the alphabet.

- Reviewed in the United States on January 6, 2025Great story, well written! Plot keeps you engaged and character development goes through the end. If you’re into drama, but prefer clean stories… no foul language or dirty/smutty story lines, you will enjoy this book.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 28, 2021I got this ebook for because it sounded intriguing and was offered for free through Amazon Kindle. This author was unfamiliar, so I had no idea whether I’d like it or not. From the first chapter I was hooked and didn’t want to put it down!
Rae and her two-week-old baby flee from her husband and his security team after she realizes he’s not the man she thought she’d married. Her plan was to go home to her grandmother, locate the treasure her father had hidden for her, and take the only two people she thought she could trust and run for their lives. Everything changes when she learns that her grandmother died the day her son was born.
Seeing his old flame, after twelve years of not knowing where she was, Rae’s former boyfriend finds himself falling for him all over again—and for her sweet infant. But Rae us so determined to distance herself, her web of secrets is almost more than even Detective Brady can untangle.
Meanwhile, the father of Rae’s son is determined to track them down and bring them back—even against Rae’s will, if need be—because his future with the family business depends upon him having an heir to pass the empire on to. His search not only leads him down an unexpected trail, but exposes treachery he was unaware of within his own ranks.
The author did a great job of limiting her point-of-view characters to these three and weaves an intriguing tale of twists and turns that keep you guessing to the bittersweet ending. Although billed as Christian fiction, there was very little about God in this book, other than a few foxhole prayers and mention of a few characters of faith. However, there was none of the profanity you find in other crime novels. There is some reference to extramarital sex. But, for the most part, it was a good read.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 28, 2024This book cost me a night's sleep! A real roller coaster ride, and I never knew where it was going. International intrigue and a small town in New England. All kinds of strange history that comes together in the end. Characters that are well fleshed out and sympathetic (well, most of them). I loved it!
- Reviewed in the United States on January 18, 2018Rachel Adams aka Rae aka Reagan McAdams is the main female character.
She has had lots of up and downs in her life. When she goes away to college she changes her name. She ends up being a journalist. She never leaves a stone unturned when it comes to finding out the truth.
She goes after this guy named Julien, she thinks had something to do with the bombing that killed a good friend of hers. Rae ends up falling in love with Julien and marrying him. Then she finds out he is a killer.
After their baby, Jean-Louie aka Johnny is born she decides to leave Julien and that is where the action starts.
Hold onto your hats ladies and gents, because it is action packed after this and Rae is always looking over her shoulder.
There is an old love from high school, Brady who fell for Rae long ago, he still loves her and would move heaven and earth for her. He is a detective with the small town she grew up in. Rae’s Gram still lives there and this is where she goes when she leaves Julien.
But when she gets to her Gram’s house it is the middle of the night. She can’t seem to find her Gram and the neighbor calls it in, as suspicious activity. Unbeknownst to Rae, her Gram has passed away a few weeks ago. Why exactly did Rae go to her Gram’s home as she left her husband, whom she finds is a killer? Rae needs money to be on the run, where is she going to find that?
Brady her old flame is the first-person Rae sees when she gets into town. Can Brady help keep Rae and Johnny safe? Will Rae even let someone else help her escape? Rae goes back to her old name Reagan McAdams; how does she keep everything straight?
I found this book when I heard about book #4 in this series and I thought I want to find out if like this series or not; so, I bought #1 first.
Okay, this is a thriller story that keeps you reading from the first page to the last.
I didn’t want to put it down but sometimes sleep does come before the last page.
This is a good mystery and just when you think you might know what is going to happen surprise! The ending was unexpected for me.
This thriller is worth the read!
After reading this one, I now want to read more of this author’s other books.
Great job Robin!

5.0 out of 5 stars A fantastic thriller.... a must read!
This book has something for everyone. There are a plethora of lies and deceptions, romance lost and found and enough suspense to keep you on the edge of your seat throughout the entire book . This book was very hard to put down and I put it down once because I had an appointment that I couldn't miss. A must read and I highly recommend it. I can't wait to read the second book in this series.

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT READING
This is the first book I have read by Robin Patchen and I loved it, it held my interest the whole time, in fact I left things I should have been doing to finish it. It is a stand alone book, which are the only sort of series I read, and had a great ending but I loved the characters so much and one of them Nate, is in the next book, so of course I have to buy the next book, not because I need to find an ending but because I want to keep reading Robin's wonderful books, she is a great author and Convenient Lies is an exciting suspenseful book. You won't be disappointed.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good read
Had a hard time getting into the story, it dragged a bit in the first few chapters but in the it was worth the read. Well written, edge of your seat suspense.

4.0 out of 5 stars Full of Lies and Twists that catch you!
Great for a binge read, book 1 of Hidden Truth. I read this and Robin's Twisted Lies book 2 over one weekend.
I don't like to give away the plot twists and turn or spoilers. My genre to read is romance and suspense and Robin's book has it all. Story is well played out with a great end… If you read i guarantee you will want to read the second in the series.
