The Corona Book of Horror Stories: 16 New Adventures in Horror Writing Paperback – October 1, 2017
Purchase options and add-ons
Herein you will find the brilliant products of dark imaginations, certainly; and something to scare you, revolt you or unnerve you, probably – it depends on how jaded and degenerate a soul you are. What we can promise you is a wealth of new writing talent with a variety of different takes on what can constitute horror. You will meet horror that is graphic, or merely sinister; supernatural, or natural - where the source of the horror is all too human. There’s the tale of the breakfast that is life-changing (and not in a good way), the story of the loner whose obsession in life is keeping parasites .... among many more dark delights to be found inside.
The book also includes potted biographies of all 16 writers and a list of author website and Twitter accounts, to aid you, should this book lead you to the discovery of a new favourite author. We think it might.

About the authors
Canadian-born former copywriter / content marketer Suzan St Maur is the author of 37 published books, some of which have been organic (genuine, not 'helped!') Amazon No.1 bestsellers.
She now works as an author coach and publishing consultant, helping others to get their passions out into print and other media ... having brought together her own experience of writing books, getting them published and using her marketing/advertising skills to promote them.
Suzan is also the founder of award-winning website resource, 'How To Write Better with Suzan St Maur.' https://howtowritebetter.net
HER BACKGROUND...
Canadian born Suzan St Maur was transported to the UK when a child and despite resultant cultural challenges managed to graduate from British high school, but with no talent for anything other than writing - so her career options were fairly clear cut...
Afterwards she attended and graduated from the then-famous Watford Art School advertising writing/visual communications course and worked in London ad agencies as a copywriter for a few years, before deciding she was far too bolshie to be an employee and so became a freelancer.
Since then she has worked as a video/TV scriptwriter and producer, a speechwriter, a copywriter, a marcoms consultant, a business writing/blogging trainer, a keynote speaker and various other guises ... but always with the common link of writing. She works mainly in the UK but also spends several weeks a year working in her native Canada (Ontario), where she has many friends and family.

PERSONAL STUFF...
Suzan has had cancer twice and now works extensively (voluntary basis) leading an award-winning charity of cancer patient representatives in south-central England. This group is a partnership with health professionals in acute and primary care plus support groups and other cancer resources/charities across the region.
The partnership is achieving very positive and pro-active progress in improving communication and resources for cancer patients and carers. More on that here - www.MKCPP.org.
Before health issues intervened Suzan was a keen horse rider and to this day she is very involved in the equestrian discipline of 'dressage.' Other hobbies include writing restaurant reviews, joke books, and rather potty-mouthed but very funny poetry ... and of course spending time with her son, their family in Canada and friends both online and offline everywhere.
An ancient hack (well past his 'sell-by' date), an advertising copywriter in a previous life whose work, unlike that of Dorothy L Sayers, Fay Weldon or Salman Rushdie, never leapt off the page into mainstream literature.
Long-since retired, and having plenty of time (in the short-term, at least!), he devotes much of his leisure hours writing short stories and verse. A 'silver-surfer' himself, he is delighted that the internet and Kindle exposes his work to a potential readership of millions!

Keith Trezise was brought screaming and kicking into the world on the 29th July 1954, in Warwickshire, UK. Ever since then he has been trying to make his mark on the world. Realizing that world domination is frowned upon by society he decided to entertain people instead. As a talented musician and singer, he managed to make people smile (unless they all had wind) and he has continued this trend by writing several plays. Determined to write a serious novel, Keith embarked upon 'Frogmorton Culpepper Saves The World', but after a couple of paragraphs he soon realised that he couldn't hold back the humour, which makes the book even more readable. 'Cobwebs In The Mind' soon followed, which is a compilation of poems and short stories. Keith continues to write as a freelancer and has several more novels and plays running around inside his head - the trick is to catch them and put them down in writing.
They say to be a successful author you should pick one genre and stick to it. Lewis Williams hasn't exactly followed that advice: having written his first book on the singer Scott Walker, he followed that with a serious academic work on social policy, which he then followed with a trilogy of limerick books that were absolutely, categorically nothing remotely like his earlier books. He is now the editor of all four volumes of The Corona Book of Horror Stories series, with the first, third and fourth books also including short stories by him.
Lewis has two degrees in philosophy (which number might be considered two too many) and worked for a number of years for Oxford University before his ignominious departure from its employ. You can find out more about him by visiting his website www.lewiswilliams.com

Born in Salisbury, Mark grew up in Gloucestershire where he studied Computer Studies at Gloucestershire College of Arts and Technology.
Once final exams were over, and before receiving his results, he moved to Andover in Hampshire where he got his first job as a computer operator working on the then new IBM AS/400.
An avid reader, Mark is a big fan of contemporary thrillers and crime fiction as well as horror, apocalyptic sci-fi and supernatural thrillers. "I read to escape, so I like a bit of humour in what I read. In my opinion, even the most serious thriller can spare a moment for a laugh or two. With the Sam Edwards books, I've tried to write something I'd enjoy reading. They definitely don't take themselves too seriously."
He's also a music lover. He's been a DJ and has also tried to help unsigned artists get discovered.
When speaking about the release of Don't Reply he said "I always hoped I'd be lucky enough to release at least one creative work on an unsuspecting public. I just always assumed it would be to do with music. But I'm so pleased it's a book. It's been an ambition for a long time."
The idea for his debut novel, Don't Reply, came when his wife received a spam text message for entry into a prize draw. He thought about replies to the message being used to detonate bombs and the seeds of a story were sown.
Mark now lives in Leicestershire with his wife and two children. He never found out if he passed his college course.
Wondra Vanian wrote her first short story at the age of seven and has never looked back.
An author first, Wondra Vanian is also an avid gamer, a photographer, a cinephile, and mother to an army of furbabies. She sleeps with the lights on, has music in her blood, and has been known to dance naked in the moonlight.

From the first story, "Nizzy's Egg" which will have you seriously re-thinking your breakfast choices, To the post-apocalyptic horror of "Told You So" by Mark A. Smart. This book is a great read and well priced ($11.95 paperback and $2.99 Kindle) Grab a copy today! You'll be glad you did!
- Reviewed in the United States on November 2, 2017I think in this book there is something for everyone in the slightly weird and strange tales the storytellers have come up with. A rather strange box appears one day on your window. Would you keep it or throw it away only to have it return the next day. Readers beware - shopping for lovely ornaments for your house, you never know the story behind them. A rather entertaining read which leaves you gobsmacked at some of the stories. Also this book is a good way to read some new talented authors you may never have heard of or some you do. I was very happy to be lucky enough to have been able to read this. A must have for horror fans. Reviewed by Jennifer

- Reviewed in the United States on July 9, 2019I do think I personally preferred the second in this series, but this was a fun read. The only thing I found off-putting about it was a couple of the author's felt the need to add in a crude sexual reference or to take a dig at America, mentions that had zero to do with the storyline.

5.0 out of 5 stars Halloween special
The stories in this book are varied and very readable. My mother told me that she stayed up into the night because she couldn't put the book down. She was very impressed

1.0 out of 5 stars Terrifyingly bad
Wow, worst horror anthology i've ever read - the stories are so amateurish and simplistic I honestly couldn't believe how bad they were. I actually bought the second book at the same time, but honestly the standard of this first book was so appalling I've deleted it from my kindle !
