Dashing Through the No (Summersweet Island Book 3) Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 786 ratings

‘Twas the week before Christmas and all through Summersweet,
Tess Powell was annoyed and wanted to retreat.
With a BIC in her hand and a frown on her face,
everyone knew she needed a break from this place.
Wanting the holiday to be nothing but the best,
Bodhi took his girlfriend to the mountains to rest.
While visions of fire happily danced in Tess’s head,
soon she would see she had everything to dread.
Crying kids, singing hippos, and a stalker with a van,
definitely wasn’t part of Bodhi’s evacuation plan.
But all he wanted for Christmas was for her to say yes,
to the question he kept asking with zero finesse.
With some help from new friends and their holiday cheer,
Tess and Bodhi get much more
than they asked Santa for this year.

Tess is about to set you Christmas ablaze!

Tess is about to set you Christmas ablaze!
Tess and Bodhi are about to bring a whole lot of Christmas cheer to your life!  Be ready! It is going to be AMAZING or traumatizing...I'll let you decide.  This book is full of laugh out loud hijinx! Need to forget about life for a while, this is the book to read! I've been waiting for a Tess and Bodhi book since the beginning and this one is just perfect! I loved that the author included some characters from a previous Christmas story. It just made for so much Christmas cheer. It's now time for me to put my tree up, find some signing hippos, and maybe set something on fire.

I'll start this review by saying that you can't just read this one without reading the other stories first. I needed to see Bodhi and Tess the way others see them before I could find out why they are the way they are. Honestly, I thought Bodhi was a wee bit of a loser when I first met him. Now, I think he's the sweetest, kindest, and most thoughtful pot-smoker I've ever met. When it comes to Tess, I couldn't understand her compulsion with carrying around lighters and burning things for her pleasure. Now, I just accept it and know that she has it under control... mostly.

I loved that this couple was so abhorrent, wrong and unappealing to me but oh so perfect for each other. Bodhi would drive me INSANE with his immature antics and Tess' swearing would have me reaching for a bar of soap to wash her mouth out with. They balance each other out and make every day something to look forward to. Their thoughtfulness to each other's needs gave me all the warm fuzzies I look forward to in my romance reads.

This was by far the funniest story I've read in ages. I had tears pouring out of my eyes and I was laughing out loud...at 5:30 in the morning. Luckily I didn't wake anyone up. While I thought it would be funny, the person behind the humour was a surprise. WELCOME BACK MILLIE!! I first met Millie in Christmas Cliche and couldn't help but laugh at her privileged and self-absorbed ways. In Dashing Through the No, she's back picking gifts that SHE thinks people should want instead of what they actually want. That probably doesn't seem that funny...I guess you have to be there...I mean read it. 😉

Loved every minute of this story and now I'm even more desperate for more Summersweet Island fun and shenanigans.

Well, I have to admit Tess grew on me a little in this story - largely due to author Tara Sivec's witty writing. Tess is an absolute riot, and also a bit of a firebug. Bodhi has a great backstory - part of which I'd guessed in the first book in this series - but they basically fell in love the first time they met. Tess just isn't sure she believes in true love that lasts forever (never mind that she's NOT the sappy happy HEA type anyway) and Bodhi has had itchy feet ever since he left his wealthy family behind 12(?) years ago.

Anyway, it's a pretty quick and fun read.

OMG!! This book is so funny! I saw book 5 in this series on a book club recommended. When I looked it up, I thought I would start at the beginning of the series. The first book is so good, the second one I loved! When Shepherd said “sherbet is where ice cream goes to die” I couldn’t stop laughing and was hooked. I wasn’t sure if I would like this one as much as the other two, but it’s my favorite so far in the series. I can’t tell you how many times I had to stop reading because I was laughing so much I was crying. Starting book 4, can’t wait!

I have been loving the Summersweet Island characters and their shenanigans through the first two stories. However I wasn't too interested in Tess and Bohdi's story. It was hard for me to relate at all to Tess and she came off annoying to me at several points in the book. I get that her character is supposed to be prickly and anti-mush but I think it was taken too far at times. I didn't think there was enough development of her backstory either to help the reader truly feel why she is the way she is rather than just be told. I do think Bodhi can be hilarious especially on his sugar highs, but he just wasn't an attractive character to me. Not crazy about him being constantly high and constantly a man child.
Overall though, it was worth it to read and get a few chuckles in as well as hear from the other beloved Summersweet Island characters. I hope to be able to read Emily's story soon!

From the very first book in the series I had the gut feeling that Bodhi's and Tess story was going to have me in stitches, my gut wasn't wrong.

I knew that Bodhi was took laid back to not have come from money in my mind so he had to had a different perspective in life and that made him perfect for Tess.

Their story is one that I know for sure I'll be reading often. It's that great!

I loved their story and wish that I could give infinite stars.

Thank you for writing this book and making me laugh.

Hahahahaha hahahaha hahahahaha! When I think about this book, all I can think is: Fire! Fire! Fire!, in Beavis and Butthead voices. What can I say, who doesn't love lighting isht up?

This book is so fun! When this series first started, I really wanted Tess and Bohdi's love story. I wanted to read all about them getting together. Before you get all excited, this isn't it. Sorrynotsorry. But, this is the next best thing.

Sivec takes Tess and Bohdi into the Christmas Cliche world. And the way she connects the two book worlds is GENIUS! But we all already know that Sivec is genius, so that shouldn't surprise you.

Sivec seems to get me fixated on animals with her books as of late. Right now I'm sitting here wanting to have a bonfire with a hippo. I mean, that's totally normal, right? Don't shake your head at me; it's totally normal.

This book is filled with laughs, glitter, fire, a stalker, moose, strippers, and fun. If you were unsure of whether you wanted to read this or not, those things alone should have just convinced you. If they don't convince you, then you have some serious issues.

Loved this! A quick read (I read it in a few hours, even with a kid bugging me every few minutes) - but so much fun and full of love and humor. Bodhi and Tess are so full of personality and not just the usual cookie cutter romantic leads you find in holiday romances. I loved their quirks and how relatable those quirks made them! Possibly my favorite holiday read so far!

I got personally recommended this and as this author has been on my TBR a long time I went straight in. Being part of a series I was worried I wouldn't bond to the characters. I was also concerned because the main characters were already together and I normally love the chase BUT I loved it! These characters are hilarious, Tara's writing so witty I was giggling out loud. Tess is so unlike the normal rom com character - she's moody, hangry and INTO FIRE. I was a bit scared of her at first, but I actually related to the moodiness loads! Loved the characters, the story was beautiful and that ending - just perfection! Thoroughly recommend. I'll defo be reading more of this series.

These two are the most uncharacteristic hero and heroine ever and I loved them! They were meant to be together. I loved that they both lived life on their own toes and loved that about one another. They are the perfect match nothing traditional! Tess and Bodhi are a truly unconventional couple that loves one another so deeply. So much fun!
