    Deadly Mix is the book that houses all of the books in the series. In other words, it is the Box Set without saying “A Kate Mackenzie Cozy Mystery Short Stories” Box Set. I am so glad that I decided to read Deadly Mix versus each book individually since the author writes “Short Stories”. The short story format is very conducive to reading Deadly Mix as one book. I thought of each book as a large chapter of a continuous story. The structure and the characters were the same from book to book, with the venue and the plot changing. For consistency, there is a thread from one book or “chapter” to the next, that ties together the interactions between the main character and the other characters and the characters between each other and as a group. This makes the important nugget easier to spot when reading Deadly Mix because you tend to find many more nuances. Furthermore, the culmination of Deadly Mix becomes more poignant with a “whodunit’s’” finale and you “the reader” were there from page one. I commend the author on his writing format. The writing format really works to make this book a page-turner – especially because you can see the end is not far off. Warning, the main character is quite feisty so there is laughter and humor in the book, which is always nice.

    These short novellas were okay but I did not like the main character's attitude about how she could solve the murders before the police did. There was a set of books I read before that I was not particularly fond of because of the heroine always solving the murders before the police did.

    I'm not sue what that reader, Bonnie Keck, had on her mind when she wrote that negative review, but she seems to, maybe, have a screw or two, loose! I found the book of short stories to be very, very good. As I finished each one, I quickly started the next, as I was wanting to see Kate find the killers. I started feeling sure of who the killer was, and was pleasantly surprised to be correct. This set left me feeling good about Kate's future. Thank you, C.T. for introducing to your writing.
