Winner of the Kindle Storyteller Award 2019 for The Picture On The Fridge

Born at an early age, Ian W Sainsbury quickly learned to talk about himself in the third person, meaning a career in the arts was all but inevitable. In 1987, he ran away from university to join the circus, playing in a band providing accompaniment for monkeys riding on pigs.

Finding it hard to match such early success, Ian played piano on cruise ships before spending over a decade singing in European piano bars. He also ran (and still does) a choir or two, singing pop stuff in a pub.

The next career move was obvious, and no one was surprised when Ian spent five years as a stand-up comic. He also began writing music and material for ventriloquist Paul Zerdin, including co-writing Zerdin’s Vegas show in 2016.

After music, circuses, puppets, comedy and choirs, Ian pooled his earnings to date and was able to buy a palatial two-man tent and a skateboard. It was at this point that he decided the world might be ready for a novel or two.

Since The World Walker appeared on Amazon in 2016, Ian has—to his amazement—found he is one of those people who does what he loves for a living without having to sell a kidney.

He lives in East Anglia, UK, with Mrs S, two children, and a flatulent dog.

Ian found a way to make the Jimmie Blue series fresh. Very entertaining. I admit that I only started the book out of respect for his past works. I was afraid Desolation Station would simply rehash prior Jimmie Blue storylines. But once again Ian Sainsbury was up to the task of keeping us entertained with fresh takes on a basic theme.

This series has an original and intriguing premise. The language is clear, precise and occasionally lyrical. Even minor characters are vividly brought to life. The story lines never disappoint. Don't start one of these books at night because if you have to choose between sleep and turning the next page you'll be up until dawn.

I felt that author tried to stretch this one out with too many Jimmy Blue mistakes. I still enjoyed it but the attack on Desolation Station was not up to Jimmy Blue standards of tactical expertise.

This book by Ian Sainsbury is a continuation of his great work on the character of Jimmy Blue.

Desolation Station is filled with smart little lines like this one "Blue knew all about single-minded tenacity and this man reminded him of himself, just without the talent, or capacity, to deliver violent just to wrongdoers. Well, nobody was perfect".

I loved this book and would not spoil it by discussing the twists Mr. Sanisbury puts into it. It is well work the time and effort to read.

    All the best

I have read everything Mr. Sainsbury and saying his Jimmy Blue Series is the best is not a lie, but I would also say the same thing about his other series, Half Heros and Work Walker, as well as his other stand alone books. I can't say I'm a literature critic, but I know what I like and I've already ordered the next in the Jimmy Blue Series, I read the book months ago and am just now writing the review.

Yet another great story in the Jimmy Blue series. As always, the action is excellent, the storyline complex and engaging, and the characters are well developed and interesting. I have this series as one of the top ones on my "to read list" and go straight to each one as soon as it is published. The only downside to finishing the latest book in the series is knowing you have to wait until the next one is available to continue with the Jimmy story.

What an incredible story. Far fetched of course, well, hopefully, but brilliantly executed (no pun intended) with some comedic moments worthy of Robin Williams and some fantastic writing. I have a new favourite author. Thanks, Ian.

This author is an automatic download for me. Jimmy reminds me of the Jack Reacher books, only this character and the plot lines are so much better. Can’t wait for the next one
