Dumpster Fire (Life Sucks Book 3) Kindle Edition

4.5 4.5 out of 5 stars 139 ratings

Rob was single.
That hadn’t been the plan.

But his wife was gone, had been gone long enough for him to risk dipping his toe back into the dating world.
The only problem was that dating was a lot different now.
He wasn’t good at apps and profiles, his banter skills were rusty, and his flirting was…
not good.
Then came high,
high heels.
Then came a sharp voice with an impressive repertoire of curse words.
Then came a woman who was definitely
not his wife…but who might be the possibility of something more.

This was an interesting book and I wanted to read it because I loved Rob when he was in the first book in the series, (I did not read the second book in the series yet). But he was really different in this book. In the previous book he comes across as a fun guy who is a widower but who is trying to move on.

In this book he is very stuck in the past and he has no clue how to move on. In fact he is close to suicidal when he meets Sophie and when he walks infront of her car late at night, drunk at the cementary where his wife is buried. Later she calls her friend in town, Finn, to help her move him and Finn tells her its his buddy Rob who is distraught about losing his wife. His house is filled with his wife as if she still lived there as well.

Sophie understands his pain but she also feels very stuck in the past as well, her story is very tragic and awful and get ready for a few tears for her history. When Rob finally is ready to move on, he wants to with her but her pain and past makes it hard to move on. This story is about learning from the past and not forgetting but also moving forward and making a choice to live rather than to give up on life, love and living.

Sophie was an awesome character and I loved her and Rob I grew to love as he tried to move on and find a new love. This is not a light read book but more of a serious book about letting go of the past, not forgetting but also that to live you have to move forward.

I received a free ARC copy of this book from the author prior to release and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Dumpster Fire is fabulous. I love that we get the gang of Stoneybrook and new faces too. This is Rob and Sophie's book. Rob is a widower and stuck in a rut. Sophie is looking for an escape from the limelight. Rob never expected that Sophie would be the game changer. I love the chemistry and banter between Rob and Sophie. They both battle their own demons and past tragedy's and come stronger in the end. They help each other heal it is beautiful. You need to meet Rob and Sophie today.

When "Dumpster Fire" by Elise Faber picked up two years after the tragic death of his wife, Carmella, widower Rob Hansen's grief was still so palpable that in some ways it seemed as if no time had passed at all. He needed something to shake him out of his rut, and meeting actress Sophie Jackson certainly did that! The connection between Sophie and Rob was obvious from the start, and no matter how much they tried to resist the pull of their feelings, they only grew stronger as they got to know each other. I loved the way that Rob and Sophie slowly opened up and allowed themselves to be vulnerable, which was extraordinarily difficult for them both, though for different reasons.

Sophie's story was just as tragic, if not more so, than Rob's, and I cried when she finally shared her past with him. She was such a strong person and had survived much more than anyone should ever have to. I wish it hadn't been so difficult for Sophie to see the good in herself for so long! Between Rob and Sophie, there were a lot of serious, emotional moments in this book, but there was also plenty of humor to lighten things up when necessary. I particularly enjoyed when Sophie and Rob debated the merits of Star Wars vs. Star Trek, which filled my nerdy little heart with glee.

Rob's sister Misty was another highlight of the book. I very much enjoyed Misty and Rob's sibling teasing and banter, though their love and support for one another remained clear throughout. I'm looking forward to learning more about Misty when she is featured in the next book of the series.

Overall, "Dumpster Fire" gave me all the feels, and I adored it. I can't wait to get my hands on the next book in the series!

Sophie isn't thrilled when a man stumbles in front of her car and she almost hits him. Then he has the nerve to throw up then pass out in the street. So she heaves him off to the side of the road and calls Finn (Hot Mess), the only guy she knows in the town. Thank God he knows where she is and can come haul the unconscious man to his home. Finding out he is a widower suddenly explains a lot, but still makes her feel badly for him. Thank God she won't have to see him again. Until he seeks her out and then she and he will have to get past their individual baggage if they want to make this thing work.

I LOVED Dumpster Fire! Rob is unlike the typical hero in romance these days. He's grieving, or at the stage where he's done grieving, but he's not a mean grouch about re-entering his life, and Sophie is a survivor, a strong survivor with a big heart. They fought through so much to be happy individually, then as a couple, they were so sweet. This series just keeps getting better, I can't wait for Rob's sister's story now!

Really good story. Enjoyed seeing Rob come out of his shell. The one negative was I wanted more development of Sophie's character. I liked her and you get her backstory but I wanted more. If you like other books by Faber you will like this one.

This is the 3rd book in this amazing series and is Rob and Sophie’s journey. Rob is a sweet, lonely man who is a widower, and he is dreading having to dip his toes back into the dating pool. Sophie has had a tough life, and she and Rob are broken souls who are merrily drifting through life but not existing, and Rob manages to break through the walls she has around herself. This is a beautifully written tale which is a great 2nd chance love story, with engaging and relatable characters, and has heartbreak, emotions, and love, which all leads to an entertaining and addictive page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.
