About the author

Courtney Pierce lives in Oregon with her husband, stepdaughter, and bossy cat. By day, she's an executive in the Broadway entertainment industry. She dove into the writing life after becoming transformed by the magic of fiction from a theater seat, studying what made audiences laugh, cry, or walk out the door. Her novels are filled with humor, heart, and a touch of mystery. She writes for baby boomers, and there's always a pet to steal the show.
Courtney's first trilogy, STITCHES, BRUSHES, and RIFFS, is a wild romp about a boomer couple who finds a magical artifact at an estate sale. The series has a touch of magical realism and explores the themes of immortality and reaching one's potential late in life.
Her latest series, THE DUSHANE SISTERS TRILOGY, starts with THE EXECUTRIX, peaks with INDIGO LAKE, and concludes with INDIGO LEGACY to be released in November 2108. The trilogy is a humorous and poignant tale of three middle-age sisters who discover a manuscript for a murder mystery in their mother's safe after her death. When the sisters get the book published, their lives will forever change. The quest to protect their mother's reputation sets off on a hilarious adventure to discover the story behind Mom's book. Only a unbreakable sibling bond will help these three sisters succeed.
Courtney has also published two short stories: 1313 HUIDEKOPER PLACE, for the 2013 NIWA Short Story Anthology Thirteen Tales of Speculative Fiction, and THE NEST, for the Windtree Press anthology The Gift of Christmas. She is a regular contributor to the blog ROMANCING THE GENRES.
Courtney's books are published through Windtree Press. More information can be found at windtreepress.com

- Reviewed in the United States on March 13, 2015Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseThe Executrix arrived and I could not put it down. The story sucked me in and kept me hostage until finished. Courtney Pierce is an awesome story teller - she must be writing from real life because the book is so believable and relatable. Three sisters who finally bond in their mid-life years tell an intriguing, interesting story that's woven with unexpected twists and turns - laugh out loud stuff. A sneak-away read with a buried love story, Pogo the dog and finally RG the mobster. I highly recommend The Executrix for someone who needs an uplifting happy read that will take make you laugh alone, and uplift. This blew me away.

- Reviewed in the United States on February 29, 2016Format: PaperbackThe Executrix by Courtney Pierce is a fun, exciting and adventurous read. The characters are excellent and you can relate to a lot of them since you meet and talk to people like them in your everyday life. This beautiful story of three sisters is intriguing and is filled with exciting and unpredictable twists and turns. This book has mystery along with fun-filled adventure.
Olivia Novak’s is a romance author, middle aged and alone since her husband died in an accident 3 years ago. These three years have been very stressful for Olivia in her attempt to trace the offender. Olivia doesn’t get along very well with her sisters. But Olivia, her sisters - Lauren and Danielle along with a dog named Pogo turn detectives when her elderly neighbor, R.D. Griffin goes missing. Can Ryan (Danielle’s ex-fiancé and Portland’s cop) solve both the cases? Will Olivia find the story of her life to pen down into a book?
It’s wonderful to read about these three sisters and Pogo. It’s pleasing to watch the three sisters finally bond with each other after so many years. There is incredible action, lovable bonding and their world is so inviting and exciting. The characters are well described. They seem so real and believable. The story also flows in a steady manner. The mystery unfolds interestingly and beautifully. This book totally uplifts your moods and gives you a series of hearty laughs. I would recommend this book to everyone who loves reading about a little bit of fun along with mystery and adventure.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 4, 2016Format: PaperbackI enjoyed meeting the Dushane sisters and their interesting relationships with one another. But I especially enjoyed reading about Pogo the dog. The story of the manuscript that mom wrote and nobody knew about until she died, and the daughter an author herself, this made for a great story that kept me reading until the end. Of course throw in an old mobster and a widow looking for her husbands murderer and it just keeps getting more interesting. I really enjoy Courtney Pierce's writing style and am looking forward to her future stories.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 5, 2015Format: PaperbackI LOVED THIS BOOK, as I have Courtney's other books! The characters are great, and I am so happy there is another adventure coming down the pike, as I am not ready to leave these three sisters and their dog, Pogo. The action is exciting, their world is one you wish you inhabited, and their love for each other is wonderful...warts and all. I am truly excited about the truths they are going to uncover about theirs lives and family in the next installment.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 11, 2019Format: KindleThe multi-layered story focuses on an author whose family has been dealt their share of grief. All three sisters handle their circumstances differently, but are drawn together to learn more about who their mother was by listening to each other's tales ... and discovering a manuscript she left behind. The Executrix is full of surprises, colorful characters (brought to life by narrator April Richwine in the Audible version) and writing that draws you in to become one of the family. As a Portlander for a dozen years, I appreciated the descriptions of the city, in particular the Sellwood neighborhood, the Willamette River and the majestic Mount Hood.
