Exposed (Experimental Heart Book 4) Kindle Edition
Before he came along, I never knew what it meant to belong. I walked the thin line between life and death. There was no middle-ground. This dragon taught me more than I imagined was possible. With him by my side, everything was right.
And then it all fell apart.
To keep him safe, I let go of the most important thing to me. It hurt—a lot. I can't dwell on what could have been, when our freedom is on the line. Going back to my old ways proves more difficult than I imagined.
And fate... it has a way of getting what it wants.
I rebuild the walls inside, to keep me sane, only to have them crumble again. Each trial—each step closer to our freedom—my resolve wavers. And when I face the ultimate test, it's not just my future on the line.

About the author

USA Today bestselling author Shannon Pemrick is a full-time slow-burn romantic fantasy author, fuller-time geek, and unrelenting dragon enthusiast. She owns too many novelty mugs, not enough chocolate, and maintains a forbidden love-affair with all things shiny. When she's not burning her fingers across a keyboard handing out adventures and HEAs, she's rolling dice and getting lost in RPGs or searching for brides for her dragon overlords.

- Reviewed in the United States on May 11, 2020Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI’m so sad that I have only one book left out to read for this series. But. These books are so BEEFY. Like a typical novel is 200-250 pages and these are double triple or quadruple that. So even though I just finished book four I’m technically like 8 books deep in material. Series is so good. I think the next book is the beefiest yet. I’m scared to read as book six is so far away. Thank goodness she has backlog to get through I can enjoy. Epic series.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 20, 2020Format: KindleVerified PurchaseAlthough some things don’t change between Eira and Rai, other things do. Zo gets to eat a little crow. Infiltration of militarily holdings, near misses, family involvement, and some great battles keep things interesting and moving. The typos are a little distracting but the story is strong.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 22, 2020Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI really liked this series. The issue with me is all the grammatical errors in this book that wasnt as noticeable in the first few. You can tell when sentences were altered by past tense used in part and current tense in another part. Where words were rearranged and the sentence doesn't make sense. Things like using "you" when it should have been "your". You can tell spell check didnt catch the incorrect use of your and you're and your. Dont get me wrong, the books are good reading but these issues did distract me from full enjoyment.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 17, 2019Format: KindleVerified PurchaseAt the end of the last book Eira has sent Rai away to protect him and the dragons; however, she's not adjusting well to his loss. Happily, Rai returns when Eira needs him and their relation begins to build again, albeit from a difficult place in terms of trust and confidence. Besides the rebellion action, we get to see Eira in free action, actually enjoying herself, by taking place in a competition that involves dwarves. Towards the end, Eira's place among the shamans is solidified and we learn more about not only her friends, but also the gods. Ready for the next book!

- Reviewed in the United States on January 26, 2018Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThis is a great series, I love the story and the characters! However, it could definitely use a good editor. There are many mistakes where words are left out of sentences taking you out of the story to try to determine what is meant or just regular spelling errors that distract from the story. Otherwise I really liked this book and was laughing out loud at some parts. I also enjoyed seeing more personal character development and the interactions between the different characters. Would have been 5 stars if not for the editing errors.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 15, 2024Format: HardcoverWholey moley! So much stuff that doesn't add to the plot line that is seemingly pointless world building. Enough extra characters to be a Robert Jordan book but little payoff. Yes, slow burn and you want to see the characters develop and fulfill their story arc etc but so much slice of life rabbit trails that don't seem to connect to the ongoing story. Great authors put those in a story collection apart from the main line. All that said, it does hold your interest. ..until you run into edit mistakes where words are spelled wrong or prehaps were mistyped? I guess I expect better for best seller work. Great story concept. You want to see what happens....with better editing, it could be exceptional.
