Tropes: rockstar, tortured hero, second chance, it’s always been you

📖 This one had all the angst and feels, friends, and I really enjoyed it! Ty and Zoey fall deeply in love the summer before she’s heading off to college and he’s heading on tour with his up and coming rock band. Their immediate connection and devotion to each other made it so painful to watch Zoey be convinced by one of those closest to Ty to end things because it is what’s “best” for Ty. A painful 8 years passes for them both, until they re-enter each others orbit once again. Neither one of them ever got over the other — first and forever loves. Knowing you still love someone is one thing, but working through the painful resentment and feelings from the past 8 years is quite another. Insecurities, self doubt, unresolved trauma, jealousy, and more are all things our couple has to work through for their happy ending. I appreciate that Kaylene didn’t give us a story where after 8 years a couple magically reunites with no problems. The emotions were up and down alongside a big old serving of angst. The quote “anything worth having is worth fighting for” reminds me a little of them through the difficult portion of rebuilding their relationship. These characters are definitely meant to be though! Zoey soothes Ty’s soul and helps him feel comfortable in his own skin, something he struggled with when he met her. She is caring, sweet, smart, and driven. And Ty is so devoted to Zoey from the very beginning, making her his number one priority. He is also very comfortable expressing himself and his emotions with her, which I loved!

🎧 Sophie Daniels and Gregory Salinas were well cast as Zoey and Ty! I would describe Sophie’s voice as medium pitch (for a female) with a warm a tone. It was easy to distinguish between her narrator voice and dialogue speaking voice. She did a great job putting emotion into her voice especially for the female speaking parts!
I really enjoyed Gregory Salinas performance! I would describe his voice as medium to high pitch (for a female) with a soft, smooth timbre. He really put on an emotion filled performance was so perfect for Ty and this story. He has a nice range also, dropping his pitch when needed for side male characters and upping it for Zoey and other female characters.

Second chance with a rockstar

Endless by Kaylene Winter is the first book in the Less Than Zero series. Is it is rockstar/second chance/love at first sight/coming of age romance about Zoey and Ty. Zoey was almost eighteen and about to start college when they met and Ty was twenty-one and about to go on tour with his rock band. This is their love story. I listened to this book in audiobook format and really enjoyed it. The audiobook was well done and the narrators were perfect for their parts in this two person POV story. If audiobooks are your jam, this book is an enjoyable listen. This was my first book by this author and I was pleasantly surprised. She wrote a story with good character and story development and world building. I look forward to the stories of the other members of Less Than Zero, Ty’s band. There were a few times I was frustrated with Zoey, but I think the reader is supposed to be frustrated with her choices. Both main characters definitely had enough flaws to make them relatable. The author included just the right amount of spice. This is a simple story with a happy ending, and I would recommend it to lovers of contemporary romance, especially if the reader is a fan of spicy stories in the rockstar trope. I am voluntarily submitting this review after listening to an advanced complementary copy of this audiobook thanks to Valentine PR and Audible Audio.

Tyson and Zoey audiobook review

4.4 stars

This is the first in the Less Than Zero series and it is an enjoyable coming of age romance. This is the first audiobook I have listened to by the author and the storyline is easy to get lost in the dynamic world of a rock star. Zoey met Tyson when they were both young and he was trying to make it big with his band, Less Than Zero. However, being young and in love, Tyson was willing to give it all up. This is when Zoey is told to drop Tyson and leave so she makes the tough decision to do it. Fast forward eight years, Zoey is an attorney and Tyson is the rock star he was born to be…Their chemistry is still off the charts, but can they forgive the past and move on? If you have a hankering for a second chance, emotional storyline with twists, then this is for you. The narration takes a bit of warming up to, but Gregory Salinas and Sophie Daniels do a commendable job bringing these characters to life. I look forward to more.
