    Sometimes there are military operations that need to be done but can't go through normal channels. That's when E.D.G.E. Security is called in. The E.D.G.E. operators are soldiers and spies that have the skills and abilities to get the job done. E.D.G.E. was trying to recruit Navy SEAL Jake ‘College’ Harrison but he liked being a SEAL and didn't think he could do as much good for his country if he were to become an E.D.G.E. operator so he's resisting them.

    Dani had not had an easy life. Wanting to turn her life around, she was happy when she got a job at E.D.G.E. in IT as an expert hacker so she could do something good that she could be proud of. And be away from the Russian mob.

    Jake was given a trial assignment that he was told would be simple. It wasn't so simple with the target being the Russian mob. Since Dani spoke Russian she was a great asset to the mission. When Dani's best friend was kidnapped, she was determined to find her. After using her hacking skills, she was sure the Russian mob was behind it and knew just who to go to in order to get her friend back. But by doing this, Dani ended up compromising Jake's mission and alerting the ones she was hiding from, that she was still alive.

    Trish Loye is a very illustrative writer making it easy to picture the events taking place. This book is a great read and definitely captures the reader in the story line, but that wouldn't work if she didn't have good characters. Jake and Dani are such strong individuals stuck in a situation that will take all their skills to get out of, that I couldn't read fast enough to find out how they handled it.

    This is the type of book where you'll want to clear some time and just sit and read it. You won't want to put it down. But be warned, it's like riding a roller coaster of emotions.

However, with a little help from an unexpected friend she has managed to turn her life around and now she works as a simple tech at E.D.G.E. Security company. However, she wants a job where she can use her ”special” talents. But then her past catches up with her.

    Navy SEAL Jake ‘College’ Harrison was injured during his last mission and it's questionable if he will return to his team. He has accepted an offer from E.D.G.E. Security to participate in a mission in order to see if he wants to join this security company. Jake is intrigued by the new computer tech and immediately sees behind Danielle's “disguise" but what will he find below all the layers?

    The book started with a bang but unfortunately couldn't uphold the suspense. I would've liked to read more about the main activities of the Russians and believe that this would've added more depth to the plot. Both main characters were likable, although I had my troubles with his imposing manners and her ambitions, which seemed at times to outsize any other aspects in her life. The romance between Jake and Danielle was just ok - no sizzling or overly hot moments.

    Not a bad book but also nothing outstanding.

    I love when books don't waste a lot of space on trivial scene setting or inner dialogue.

    Although this book was only 283 pages I didn't feel it was missing anything from the story. I do wish we would have gotten more of a back story on Dani and the Russians but it read well and kept me interested from the beginning. Matter of fact I read it in about 4 hours on a lazy day.

    The suspense was just enough to keep my pulse up and the steam between Dani and Jake wasn't over played but still had me fanning myself. I really enjoy books that focus on the story and the romance is a side note...not the other way around.

    I first read Edge of Reason (EDGE Securities #2) and finished it in one day. Just couldn't stop reading it. Based on that fact I immediately bought 2 more books in the series, including this one. I've never done that before, but this book (Edge of Control, #1) proves that I got more than lucky.

    I just fell in love with the female lead character & her willingness to do whatever was necessary to help out a friend.

    Try this series out if you want a great combo of action, suspense & believable human emotion! I'll keep following this author with every book she writes.

    I'd recommend this series to any adult, male or female, who loves addictive reading!
