Edge of Control (Edge Security Series Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.4 4.4 out of 5 stars 3,408 ratings

E.D.G.E. Security is a covert international organization that handles jobs most governments won’t. The operators are the elite of the elite, soldiers and spies, chosen for their skills and secrecy, and their ability to go beyond the edge.

E.D.G.E wants to recruit Navy SEAL Jake ‘College’ Harrison but he’s skeptical of the good he can do as an E.D.G.E. operator. His trial assignment is a simple recon mission with the target being the Russian mob. The only interesting aspect of the job is the sexy IT tech, but Jake doesn’t want or need any trouble in his life and Dani has trouble written all over her.

No one knows who Danielle Everett really is, beyond the fact that she works as a simple tech at E.D.G.E. Security company. The new hire who gets the operator job she covets, frustrates her as much as he attracts her, because he digs beneath her carefully constructed identity and she has to fight the urge to run.

But when Dani’s best friend goes missing, she uses the hacking and thieving skills she’d learned as a child to find her, but in the process alerts her enemies that she’s still alive. Can she trust Jake to help her escape and save her friend, or will she push him to the edge of his control?

Sometimes there are military operations that need to be done but can't go through normal channels. That's when E.D.G.E. Security is called in. The E.D.G.E. operators are soldiers and spies that have the skills and abilities to get the job done. E.D.G.E. was trying to recruit Navy SEAL Jake ‘College’ Harrison but he liked being a SEAL and didn't think he could do as much good for his country if he were to become an E.D.G.E. operator so he's resisting them.

Dani had not had an easy life. Wanting to turn her life around, she was happy when she got a job at E.D.G.E. in IT as an expert hacker so she could do something good that she could be proud of. And be away from the Russian mob.

Jake was given a trial assignment that he was told would be simple. It wasn't so simple with the target being the Russian mob. Since Dani spoke Russian she was a great asset to the mission. When Dani's best friend was kidnapped, she was determined to find her. After using her hacking skills, she was sure the Russian mob was behind it and knew just who to go to in order to get her friend back. But by doing this, Dani ended up compromising Jake's mission and alerting the ones she was hiding from, that she was still alive.

Trish Loye is a very illustrative writer making it easy to picture the events taking place. This book is a great read and definitely captures the reader in the story line, but that wouldn't work if she didn't have good characters. Jake and Dani are such strong individuals stuck in a situation that will take all their skills to get out of, that I couldn't read fast enough to find out how they handled it.

This is the type of book where you'll want to clear some time and just sit and read it. You won't want to put it down. But be warned, it's like riding a roller coaster of emotions.

    Overall Rating: 4.25 Rockin’ ★★★★

There are some military operations that require more than normal channels to get the job done. What do you do when you need a covert operation to be handled under the table? You call E.D.G.E Security, an organization that is made up of the best of the best from governments all over the world.

In Trish Loye’s first novel in her Edge Security Series we delve into a world of espionage and military missions that will keep the reader involved, waiting for what happens next. Edge of Control is the first book in this series and is the story of two unlikely people that find love unexpectedly, this is Dani and Jake’s story.

Danielle’s life has not been easy, but she has fought to create a new life for herself. A life away from the corruption and evil of the Russian mob. Dani thought she had finally found her niche at E.D.G.E. as a IT tech. Her job is mundane for someone with her capabilities, but she wants this new beginning. When operative Jake Harrison steps into the picture, life takes another unexpected turn for Dani. But Dani’s past refuses to stay in the past and comes back to haunt her in her could be future.

Jake is faced with a forced vacation from his SEAL team. He is offered a position with E.D.G.E., but is torn between his SEAL team and missions he will be running as an E.D.G.E. operative. To sweeten the new position is a beautiful, mysterious woman that works as an IT tech. There is something about her that pulls at him and want let go. However, Dani is not what she appears to be. There is so much more to her and he wants to uncover all of her secrets.

This is a romantic suspense filled novel with military action and who done it questions that burn up the pages with sexual challenge. Ms. Loye has created a group of heroes and heroines that you will want to meet. This is an outstanding addition to my library.

I came across this author and book quite by accident & I am so glad I did. Trish Loye writes a fast paced, gripping story with great characters and dialogue. Very suspenseful with just right amount of sexual attraction and tension between the two main charaters that makes it exciting (not too graphic) and let's you know the care deeply about each other. They both are heroic, courageous, and fighting for a good cause. Book 1, Edge of Control, is great and I look forward to reading more by this author who is now one of my most favorites. Thank you, Trish! BTW - I very rarely write reviews but wanted to spread the word so others could enjoy the book as much as I did. Great writing, good character development and interaction, well edited - would give six stars if possible!

This was my first Trish Loye book and I did enjoy the story enough that I finished the whole book in a few hours. Dani's background and the slow trickle of information about her intriguing past is really what kept me reading. That and I liked the depiction of her character as a hacker with some bad a$$ skills; as a kid whose life took a wrong turn but now she seeks redemption and wants to use her skills for good. Jake, on the other hand, felt flat. He was sexy in the "he's a Navy SEAL" kind of way and he wasn't a typical brooding, overbearing hero towards her. I liked that he tried to coax her trust out little by little.

The plot itself was enjoyable, however the flow was somewhat choppy; the sequences of exciting events/actions didn't flow. The same applied to the romance. They had sex once or twice and it happened pretty late into the story. Even after that the couple still hadn't talked very openly about their pasts, then something happened that was portrayed as a bit of a betrayal of trust and yet the heroine suddenly realized she loved the hero. With that said, it was overall a good book and I don't feel like I wasted my time.

I loved this book. An action packed plot; well written, lovable characters; a heart warming, sexy romance - what's not to love? I was hooked from the first chapter, and I couldn't put it down. I read far too late into the night, and went straight and bought book 2 in the series. Great read!

I first read Edge of Reason (EDGE Securities #2) and finished it in one day. Just couldn't stop reading it. Based on that fact I immediately bought 2 more books in the series, including this one. I've never done that before, but this book (Edge of Control, #1) proves that I got more than lucky.

I just fell in love with the female lead character & her willingness to do whatever was necessary to help out a friend.

Try this series out if you want a great combo of action, suspense & believable human emotion! I'll keep following this author with every book she writes.

I'd recommend this series to any adult, male or female, who loves addictive reading!
