MATEO MORGAN
CALL SIGN: SOLO

Reckless, arrogant, and bold, Solo is as known in the U.S. Navy for his bad-boy reputation as he is for his skills as a fighter pilot. It’s a surprise to his peers, then, when he’s chosen to train and compete at the most prestigious naval aviation academy in the world.

MISSION RULES:
1. Kick everyone’s ass.
2. Do whatever it takes to win.
3. Do your best to distract the competition.
4. Especially when that competition is a gorgeous blue-eyed perfectionist who makes your blood run hot.

GRANT HUGHES
CALL SIGN: PANTHER

Disciplined, smart, and confident, Panther can’t afford not to play by the rules. As the son of a top Navy commander, all eyes are on him, and being anything less than number one is unacceptable.

MISSION RULES:
1. Keep it safe in the air.
2. Prove you’re more than Commander Hughes’s son.
3. No distractions. Stay focused.
4. Don’t fall for your competition—especially not the rebellious heartbreaker with lips made for sinning.

In the heat of the hot California sun, tempers flare and desires ignite as Solo and Panther try to resist their attraction while fighting to be number one.
With passion this intense, the question remains:
Who’s gonna come out on top?

Danger Zone is book one of The Elite series and is not a standalone. Book two, Need for Speed, will release 3.27.20, followed by the final book, Classified, on 4.27.20.

About the Author

The minute she began her love affair with reading, Ella became an avid supporter of the romance genre and has never looked back.
Ella is Australian born and bred but currently resides in Houston, Texas with her husband.

You could say Brooke Blaine was a book-a-holic from the time she knew how to read; she used to tell her mother that curling up with one at 4 a.m. before elementary school was her ‘quiet time.’ Not much has changed except for the espresso I.V. pump she now carries around and the size of her onesie pajamas.

She is the author of Flash Point, a romantic suspense standalone, as well as the co-author of the erotic series, A Desperate Man, with Ella Frank. The latter has scarred her conservative southern family for life, bless their hearts.

The first time I listened to this series of books I thoroughly enjoyed them. But after just re-listening again for a second time I can honestly say that this story might just be my very favorite! First, the men's voices reading the stories works for me on every level! They are just perfect for their parts. Then there is the story itself: a reimagined Top movie, that really "flies" straight to the heart. Yes, there is the sex, but AND an actual story. A love story. So if you love mm romance and an actual storyline, this one is a must read/listen.

I have to admit, I did not like Solo at first. Just like Panther was too damn up tight, Solo didn’t seem to take any darn things seriously and it was a little annoying it first.
But as the story got moving, I enjoyed the banter and dialogue back-and-forth.
I also love love a little action and adventure, and a actual storyline in my romance. And this story had some excellent action sequences.
Grant and Mateo are hot hot and I really enjoyed this story. Even the abrupt story ending cliffhanger, which I usually despise left me wanting to go straight to the next book.

Ok, I can't even tell you how much you're going to love this series. I'm a huge fan of Ella Frank's so, this was an easy choice to venture into. Like always, she doesn't disappoint. My first introduction to Ella was her Temptation Series with Logan and Tate. I didn't think anything I would read would come close to that one, but this one does. Since I know the story of Logan and Tate so well (I might have read this numerous times), there are some similarities to the story arch and a little with the back ground of the characters. It doesn't overlap enough that this story doesn't stand on it's own though. This is my first experience though with Brooke Blaine. If you're familiar with Ella's other books, you will definitely here the input from Brooke in this one. I can't pinpoint for you exactly what it is, but you can feel the collaboration none the less.

Now with that out of the way, here's the FYI on the story......it's so much better than I was hoping for. Knowing that this is a hate to love series, you're never quite sure how fully developed the series can be. This one makes you love every character (except one, but you'll figure that out as you go). They've done a good job of developing the main characters, Solo (Mateo) and Panther (Grant), as well as their best buddies Houdini and Gucci (I can't remember if you ever learn their real names, I guess I have the hardship of reading it again). The camaraderie between all of them is perfect. Panther is the more introverted of the two that carries the weight of the world on is shoulders for different reasons, whereas Solo is his polar opposite. You love Panther at his first introduction with Solo having to wear you down, but you love him just as much. What's interesting here is the military backdrop. You root for the two of them personally and professionally throughout the story. There are natural challenges anyone would face when their story begins. They have that additional struggle with military expectations. It makes the ending so much more sweet. The book is worth the ride for sure.

I read the first one and pre-ordered the next two. I may or may not have also put the roll out dates on my calendar. I also may or may not have waited to read the second book until I could get my fix with the third. It's addictive and you won't unhook till you finish them all.

Everytime I pick up a book by Ella Frank and Brooke Blaine I fall more in love with the amazing men and love stories they create. This series was so much fun and was a not so subtle nod at Top Gun, not that it’s a rewrite at all. This story was about two navy pilots attending an elite training course and falling in love with each other, overcoming obstacles set in their way to happiness, and it was SO DAMN steamy and swoony!

Panther and Solo (call signs) meet one night in a gay bar and sparks fly but Panther walks away. The next day, they meet in training. Solo’s smart ass attitude riles Panther up in more ways than one. From here, they begin a whirlwind love affair that kept me reading straight to the end!

I couldn’t put this series down! Thankfully I always know to grab Ella and Brooke’s entire series in one go so I just jumped right into the next one. The cliffhanger at the end of the first book had me all AHHHHH and of course I hit it at night and HAD to keep reading. Good thing it was over the holidays and I could stay up reading for a bit!

    ***5 Stars***

*Shoots a dark look at the authors and then sighs heavily*

Ladies, I love your minds and your words and I KNOW that this is just the start of the extremely sm*xyness that is Solo and Panther...but seriously?!?

THAT is where you leave things.

    UGH

    Fine...I will deal...

*Takes another breath and prepares to dive into a very vague non spoilery review*

This baby was all KINDS of fun. I swear I had ‘Highway to the Danger Zone’ by Kenny Loggins playing in my head the entire time because this book had all the goodness of Top Gun but with a ton more sme%yness. I mean nuclear level sm@xy woven throughout the entire book and add in a whole slew of fun characters. And this baby was addicting. Putting it down simply wasn’t an option.

As this is book only the first of Solo and Panther’s journey ~ in more ways than one ~ Imma keep this part brief. I adored them both. They are, at their very cores, good, honorable men who have just the right amount of Alpha to make you all kinds of melty. Their journey, thus far, has been an interesting one and I found myself not favoring one over the other when things got rocky between them. They both have their way of dealing and it only upp’d the chemistry between them and made it quite easy to see how they could both be so much more.

As was quite obvious at the start of this review, the ending has me not so happy, BUT I trust these ladies and will practice patience. And I have to put this out there, but the info drop before things got started was all kinds of awesome. It definitely got me ready to dive into this book and meet a whole bunch of new characters that I cannot wait to hang out with again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Looking forward to the next... Panther & Solo 😜
Reviewed in Brazil on March 1, 2020
I just finished the book with: WHAT THE HELL! THIS CANNOT BE THE END!
But then I "calmed down" kkkkkk (laughing nervous)
But I loved Panther, as he tries to be what is expected of him, but trying to leave a part of him (in my view) intact, real to him.
Solo, it was Solo, I liked it, despite wanting to punch him sometimes... The hot scenes, Jesus... I liked that the sexual tension between them was built, but I wanted to see a little more of them among friends and with in relation to Panther, to his father. Sometimes I miss it in books, the relationship around everyone and not just between them.
    Looking forward to the next.
    Thank you! 😍

5.0 out of 5 stars What a rush!

Like having Top Gun in a book. Solo and Panther are part of the best of the best who are together at the Naval Air Academy. Competition is tough but they both feel they can come out on top. Solo is out and proud while Panther is still in the closet partly due to his father, an ex Navy pilot, so he has a lot riding on him.

    Their attraction is almost instant.

The characters are highly likable: Solo the big kid and Panther the responsible one.

Great read. Will continue next month. Looking forward to it.

What a great start to a new series, well written as usual. Anything Ella Frank is an automatic buy for me. Panther / Grant and Solo / Mateo are super hot. They are both slightly damaged but likeable and lovable characters and there is a back story waiting to be explained with Solo. The ending had my heart in my mouth and I can't wait to see what their reaction to that will be. Captain Hughes needs a good kick up the bum though. The side characters are all very well written and entertaining too making this a very highly recommended read.

This book does finished with a cliff hanger but the second book is due out soon.
Once i started reading this I couldn't put it down..the chemistry between Panther and Solo is so very good.
They are both Alpha males so they are both very strong characters.
They are both fighter pilots trying to be top of the class... both of them are capable of it so it will be interesting to see who wins!
It is the start of a very good story!
