The Elven King's Love (Fated Elves Book 2) Kindle Edition
Casersis has been keeping a secret. And the longer he avoids Dustin’s attempts to pry it out of him, the harder Dustin chisels away at Casersis’s resolve. Throughout this push and pull, Dustin is so bored he’s all but climbing the walls. To battle this, Casersis takes Dustin on a series of long-overdue dates, bringing them closer both emotionally and spiritually.
When Casersis finally admits his secret—that he yearns for a fabled soulbond—he’s surprised that Dustin is completely fine with the idea of eventually trying for one. But when it happens by accident, neither are prepared for the fallout. Dustin still has enough human blood that the soulbond causes excruciating, debilitating flares of agony. And if the fits don’t calm down soon, the soulbond may just kill him.
This 70,000-word non-shifter omegaverse novel is set in a world where mpreg (male pregnancy) is a fact of life. However, this series does not end with a baby or pregnancy.
Tags: Omegaverse, soulbonding, rags to riches, non-mpreg, non-shifter, younger alpha, older omega, did I mention before about the age gap?, the age gap is real, millions of years of age gap, I will probably forever have ridiculous age gaps, Casersis is still an idiot but he’s trying, Dustin’s super proud of him for trying but still exasperated, a bit of schmoop but we love it, Dustin drinks more slick than water, it has restorative properties, that’s a lie but I said what I said, sweet sex, hot sex, Dustin screaming in pain, the fabled soulbond tries to kill Dustin, why do I do this to my poor characters?, Erastus tries to be a good pup, but Casersis still hates him, naked Erastus is a thing, shenanigans, fated mates, mages, magic, still with the loveable idiots.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 1, 2021Could not put this book down! Love the way Cass and Austin's relationship is growing and maturing. Neither is perfect, but they are working on it!
- Reviewed in the United States on March 21, 2021I totally stayed up until 1:30am to binge read Devon Vesper's latest in the Fated Elves Series. (You need to read these in order, they are all connected). I liked this continuation in Cas and Dustin's storyline. Cas wants to Soulbind to Dustin, but doesn't know how to bring the subject up. This causes A LOT of moping. Dustin meanwhile is bored and isn't used to the idle life. He's blue collar (one of the many reasons I like him) and he needs a purpose or he will go crazy with boredom.
I wish we had gotten more info on why Erastus kept popping up in the most random places and times. It didn't really add to the story in places. I hope this isn't a sophomore slump in the series, I don't want to see this saga become stagnant... I'm looking at you Cass, start communicating.
I can't wait for the 3rd book because I like this world, the characters, and I need to know how Cas and Dustin's love ends up!
- Reviewed in the United States on September 10, 2021I’m not really sure why Casersis isn’t allowed to keep the growth, and understanding, that he gained in the last book. He and Dustin spend all too much real estate in this book rehashing all of the same arguments that they resolved in the last book.
I also just don’t believe that Dustin didn’t immediately ask for Casersis’ side of the story with Erastus’ family. There is no way that Dustin would be satisfied with Erastus’ explanation without wanting to know everything about what happened. And to pester Casersis until he gave in.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 25, 2021I loved The Elven King's Love by Devon Vesper. It's a great addition to the Fated Elves series. Dustin and Cass are still working on their relationship, with Dustin having to remind Cass that he wants a partner that respects his decisions. We still have friction between Cass and Dustin's boss, and I'm still wondering what caused the hatred between them from Cass's viewpoint. And the pain that Dustin goes through when he has a soulbond episode is heartbreaking. I can't wait until he is a full elf so that they will stop. I loved Cass's present to Dustin, and I can't wait for the next book to come out to see what happens next.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 2, 2021I liked this book a bit more than the first. Cass and Dustin are dealing with Dustins change. They are also trying to do more things together. They are doing relstionshippy stuff. Cass is freaked out about finding his soulbound mate and if Dustin could be his.
I enjoyed reading it but I guess I was expecting more magic and more traveling into other worlds but it seems like this series is more stuck in the human world. Which is okay. Just if there's gonna be magic let's go big. If there's gonna be omegas let's have heats. Their day to day struggles in getting to a relationship are okay but just wishing for more adventure! Anyhow, it was good.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 24, 2021Another wonderful step along the path of Dustin's transformation and his and Cas's journey to their happy ending. It's not a smooth path at all, Cas has such a hard time because of his fears of being alone. I loved seeing Dustin fight for his independence while still showing Cas that he's not going anywhere. I loved every minute of it and book three cannot come soon enough.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 7, 2021"The Elven King's Love" continues the story that began with "The Elven King's Captive" (these are not standalone books). Despite my relatively low rating, I am enjoying the overarching storyline but was disappointed there wasn't more world-building and story progression in this book.
This remains an intriguing fantasy world that flips typical alpha/omega dynamics, and the few new aspects of it presented here are interesting - notably Casersis's soulbonding with Dustin, which is the big focus. I had finished Book 1 looking forward to learning more about Cass's backstory and seeing how Dustin's transformation from human to elf played out, and this book hits on the latter somewhat but mostly in relation to the soulbond.
Overall, it seemed like more time was spent rehashing and inching things along than really furthering the storyline. Like in Book 1, Dustin remains immature and moody, Cass remains devoted but so insecure that he's secretive and dwells in self-made angst, and there's no shortage of steamy times or emotional whiplash. I was also puzzled by their encounters with Erastus because it was like the closing events of Book 1 never happened.
I still want to see where Dustin and Cass's journey ultimately goes, and am hopeful the upcoming books in this series will cover more ground. I received an advance reading e-copy of this book and have left this honest review voluntarily. (Also read in KU.) [Story: 3.5 Stars]
- Reviewed in the United States on March 19, 2021Love this book it's the second in the Fated Elves seies by Devon Vesper they just keep getting better and better so good. Life for Dustin live has been difficult use after working long hard hours doing physical labor to just hanging out at Casesis's estate is so boring, but the changes he is going through becoming an elf and soulbonding can be debilitating. Casersis is having a hard time after being exciled he hangs on to tight and smothers Devon, but with the love they share they can only hope to can find a way to work together through everything going on in their lives to become the mates they are destin to become.

2.0 out of 5 stars Frustrating
The dangerous situation mentioned in the blurb doesn’t happen ‘til about halfway through. And the first half is mostly a back and forth of Dustin asking Casersis what’s bugging him and Casersis either brushing him off entirely or deciding he will tell Dustin but putting it off and never getting round to it. It makes the pace of the first half feel very plodding and annoying. It took me ages to reach the halfway point as a result because I’d get bored with the same thing I read the previous chapter and put the book down for a couple of weeks.
The relationship between them is much better and sweeter - when Casersis deigns to let his mate take the lead in things. Unfortunately since this is Casersis we’re talking about that would be almost never.
It’s been months since I read this one and I still haven’t picked up the third. I guess I’ll get round to it eventually. I truly hope the next one has better pacing and relationship development than the first two.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great continuation of the story!
This book 2 continued the story of Dustin and Casersis. It was interesting witnessing how their relationship evolved and changed. Their love is not common and I enjoyed a lot their new dynamic and the little details that showed how they feel for each other. As a fantasy tale, their love needed to overcome obstacles and misunderstandings and the author balanced an amazing plot full of twists and turns with the development of a unique romance in a master way. This book is better than the first one and raised the bar for the next installments on the series!

4.0 out of 5 stars Cute but a bit long
I still like the story, but it's getting repetitive, and the conflict is always the same. I'd really like to see some more fantastical elements to the story. It's going too slow and getting bogged down in the everyday. Will ilely still read the next one cause I do like the characters and want to see what happens with them.
