    I really liked this first book of the series. The characters are so well written . It's a feel good story with some humor, romance and emotional moments. It also has some family drama.

    D is like a gentle giant , former football star, a humanitarian and such a gentleman. He never gives interviews and hates reporters that dig into his secrets. Until he meets Elise, that is. He loves his momma too and that sure warmed my heart.

    Elise is trying to start her career and get away from her overbearing father , who is a jerk! She is a reporter and wants to prove to everyone that she can handle the assignment of getting an interview with D, even though she is shocked to be given this opportunity. She didn't expect to be attracted to him. (no spoilers here)

    The story is engaging and the pacing of the story is excellent. I'm really looking forward to the next book in the series.

    **I voluntarily received an Advance Reader Copy of this book. **
    This story is very encouraging for me. My son has dyslexic and has extreme problems with reading, but, like the character in this story he is very good with remembering from oral communication. I can only hope he achieves his goals.

    The heroine does not have an easy life. She comes from money, but her father is a control freak. He rations her allowance, and tries to control her dating life.

    This couple have many obstacles to overcome, and the drama seems unending. But this story has a HEA. It is a wonderful read, I loved it.

    Absolutely love D'Andre because he is a gentleman, smart and a great realistic example of never giving up. I really didn't like Elise much, I felt sorry for her plight. I think her emotional stake should have made her more compassionate instead of the vindictive intent of her profession which is what rubbed me the wrong way about her. Their story is emotional, I read it in one sitting so it's engrossing but it just wasn't an unique enough plot for me. Interracial romance is one of my favorites in the contemporary genre from way back in the '90s when it wasn't popular and it was very hard to find, since I have read so many and there is an abundance of IR now, this one is good but just seems average to me.
