Behind every welcoming smile lies a chilling secret.

Everything was fantastic when they first moved in next door. The epitome of friendly, caring, trustworthy…until you got to know them. Then the nightmare began.

From deranged to deadly, depraved to diabolical, these stories will forever make you realize what evil hides behind the curtains. Blurb From the blood of Macbeth and the ghosts of Hamlet, to the dark fantasy of The Tempest and the twisted love of Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare Unleashed reimagines the Bard’s greatest works as short horror stories…as well as horror sonnets. Since the beginning of time, people have argued the meaning of dreams. Are they symbolic visions that hold great meaning and personal significance? Are they portals into other worlds? Or are they just a series of random events? Haunting podcast transcripts. Blood-soaked police reports. Bewildering court findings. Brace yourself for an anthology that resurrects the chilling power of epistolary fiction—where ordinary documents transform into vessels of absolute terror. Written by 37 of Horror’s greatest writers, Including 18 Bram Stoker Award Winners, this anthology features diverse voices from every walk of life as they usher you through the darkest and most profound questions of the modern age. Prepare yourself for a harrowing journey through Dastardly Damsels, an anthology that redefines horror with a powerful lineup of female authors. This one-of-a-kind collection gathers the chilling voices of horror’s most imaginative minds, presenting a rich blend of flash fiction, short stories, poetry, a suspenseful play, a novella, and even an illustrated comic book section.

How well do you really know your neighbors? These stories will have you questioning every single movement your neighbors make and double checking your doors at night to ensure that they are locked.

This one was a lot of fun, I actually finished it a few weeks ago but haven't had time to jump on here to give a proper review. As with many anthologies some stories hold my attention a bit more than others. All of them are worth reading though a lot of fun, a few stuck with me long term though like There Goes the Neighborhood by Brian Asman. This one was great I loved the premise and would have definitely read a whole book fleshing out the characters in this neighborhood a bit more. John Durgin's Bleeding from the Inside was a lot of fun as well, the build up was great, I couldn't figure out where he was going with this story, but the ending was brutal in the best way. I could go on because after thinking about these stories for a few weeks all of them stuck with me in different ways. Definitely pick this one up!

It's hard to write a review that says it any more clearly than the title of this book. There are 14 wildly different stories, which in itself is scary that there can be that many different tremendously evil kinds of neighbors out there. The twists are plentiful, as as the thrills and chills. And overall I feel much better about my own neighbors after reading this collection!

This wasn't my favorite horror anthology, but it wasn't the worst by far. I think I expected a little more than what I got.

This is one of the best anthologies I've read in a while. Every story, without exception, is well written and entertaining. Incredible tales, not to mention an equally entertaining foreward from Duncan Ralston, all about horrendous neighbors of all kinds. Tons of sub-genres are represented, slasher, serial killer, cosmic, folk, grief, even erotic! There is literally something for everyone. Here's a bit more detail about some of my favorites!

Pine Ridge Homeowners Association by Jay Bower- A scary tale about why HOAs are the absolute worst! A couple move into a new house and notice the neighbors behaving strangely. This one got a little claustrophobic, and I loved it!

Toddler Toy Graveyard by Candace Nola- An intense tale of an absolute bitch of a neighbor that goes from hateful and meddlesome, to downright dangerous. Tension-filled and witchy, I really loved the ending!

Agoraphobia by Mike Salt- A paranoid agoraphobic is convinced he is being watched and messed with in his apartment. Is it all in his head, or is something sinister actually happening? I felt drawn into this character's madness from the start!

Come to the Shed by Nick Roberts- Such an amazing job of building tension until it gets incredibly scary, all leading up to a big reveal and climax. So well written!

Solitary by Megan Stockton- An inmate is convinced that prisoners are able to escape when put into solitary confinement. He makes it so he's sent there to check it out for himself and finds that his new neighbor in the cell next door is very strange. By far the most original and unique of all the stories.

There Goes the Neighborhood by Brian Asman- An absolutely perfectly told story. A unique twist on serial killer tales that was highly entertaining throughout.

R.E. Sargent and Steven Pajak have a tremendous ability to bring together the best authors around for their anthologies, and this anthology does just that. Highly recommend!
