    Every upcoming A.M. Johnson becomes an anticipated read, but Forever, Con Amor had me both anxious and eager. It is, after all, the final book (GASP!) in the much loved and lauded For Him series, and who the heck wouldn't want it to end on the highest of high notes? Add to that the fact that the three novels and one novella that came before it received a vast majority of positive and glowing reviews from fellow romance readers. So naturally, I wanted this last For Him book to be just as amazing! And you know what? It absolutely was! A quick FYI for those of you who are either new to the series or to the author herself: All the books in the series can be read as standalones, but it is an interconnected series, so I recommend you read them in order. 

    Marcos Basulto never hesitates to poke fun at his best friend's boss. After all, Chance Davenport makes it way too easy, what with his boring basic tees and utilitarian cargo shorts and pants. The thirty-five-year-old director of Pride House gets that the twenty-four-year-old former member of the Air Force doesn't think much of him or his fashion sense, but the more time Marcos is around him, the more Chance finds himself thinking way too much about the younger man. Things get even more complicated once Chance offers up his extra room to Marcos, essentially becoming roommates. The two of them couldn't be more different, but the more time they spend together, the more Marcos is forced to be honest with himself. That maybe he doesn't dislike Chance as much as he seems to...that maybe this is his chance--his Chance--at love and happiness.

    Let the wild rumpus start! But while the great Maurice Sendak's king of all wild things was a little boy named Max, A.M. Johnson's is none other than Marcos (I swear, the guy could be the poster child for "cariño brutal"), and while it's his and Chance's love story that closes out the For Him series (please don't go!), it was a story that I couldn't get enough of (we'll eat you I ate it up!), and there was simply no way I couldn't fall for them (we love you so!). There is a Max, though, and there's a Koda, too. We've also got the usual suspects, aka the rest of the For Him couples, and I loved how everything came full circle for this cast of characters. Another thing I liked was Johnson keeping the door open for a potential spin-off series (YES, PLEASE!). Why? Because these are the kinds of stories that not only deserve to be told, but they deserve to be read and shared. I'm often left feeling inspired by Johnson's books, and same goes with Marcos and Chance's. Theirs was a journey of living their lives authentically and achieving their dreams while also being of service to others. Slap a "Best of 2022" sticker on Forever, Con Amor because deserves to be on the list. Five-plus stars!

    With an A.M. Johnson book you can't go wrong. She's a one click author for me and I loved every single word in the For Him series.

    Forever, Con Amor is no different. Following Marcos and Chance - two characters I already fell in love within the earlier books - came so natural to me. Both have so many layers which were explored beautifully.

    Their story is raw, refreshing and oh so swoon worthy! The chemistry between Marcos and Chance feels so real and makes it so easy to follow their journey. I couldn't have wished for a better ending to this series!

    Forever, Con Amor by AM Johnson is about Marco, a precious but formidable ex-military, future fashion icon, and Chance, a "tree hugging hippy" with a heart of gold and a commitment to helping those less fortunate. On paper, they are an impossible match, with entirely different histories. But in real life they have an instant spark that steadily grows until it ignites into super hot steam and solid, sweet adoration.
    I loved this book! Marcos goes through so much he becomes scared to dream. But Chance is just too tempting and trustworthy and they learn to dream together and achieve great things.
    There was a subtle emphasis on the way they both hid deeper, softer souls than their personas exhibited (especially Marcos). These two were so romantic behind closed doors, it made the steam even hotter! Steamy, romantic, lightly humorous with some internal anxiety.

    A.M. Johnson's Forever, Con Amor is such an amazing reckoning into the lives of two young men who are struggling to find themselves, their found families, and the love they so desperately need.

    "Every experience was different, every life unique, but I saw myself in their eyes. The hunger. The fear. The things we’d had to do to survive. Stuff like that bruised you in places no one would ever see." *words are changed to avoid being censored. *

    "Found family is real family. I’ve been force fed that since I was seventeen. Believe me, I know. But it’s easier to just pretend to be enough. To put on my makeup and heels and frickin own who I am even though I don’t always feel like that’s the truth of it.”

    Marcos is my catnip, a lot snarky, a little bit of a bully, but it's easy to see he's hiding his own pain and fear underneath all that snark. On top of that snark is his gorgeous face with the freckles he loves to hide, the lip gloss he uses so powerfully, I just want to snuggle him, even knowing he mostly rejects snuggles - it's easier and easier to recognize he rejects the snuggles because of his early family life, and how they tried to force him into one acceptable way of life.

    I love how Marcos treats the kids at Pride House, the advice he offers, how he tries to keep them from making the same mistakes he did, and what they need to do if someone tries to force the issue.

    Chase, WOW!, Chase is a completely different person stuffed in his own box for a long time. I love him too, but in an entirely different way. I was glad he seemed to have dealt with his prior issues before trying to start something up with Marcos, then I had a little niggling of worry when one of those issues just walked right on in his life. Not so much for Chase, but I was really worried Marcos would run for the hills.

    Chase is also his own kind of special soft, and sexy. He and Marcos are that perfect combination of flash and fire together, they each give each other a soft place to land, and the perfect person to bounce ideas off. A.M. Johnson could not have given these two their more perfect person, I was just swooning for them at the end, and their Maurice Sendak quotes. So, SO MUCH LOVE. I almost always cry, with Amanda's books, but these were the best kind of tears!!

    Knowing that this story was probably the last one in the For Him series, I really needed Marcos and Chance's story to be an absolute belter...and it SO was!! The Spanish love words did me in, and they were so appropriate for the settings they were used in. Two broken men...with trust issues, and far more baggage than anyone has a right to be saddled with. Loved catching up with Anders and Ethan, Wild and Jax and Park and Van, and making new friends along the way with some of the kids from the Pride House [Amanda says she may well do a YA/NA story further down the line with some of the standout characters]. This series has deservedly been put on my All-time Fave Series bookshelf. Great stories Amanda!!

    Marcos and Chance were so great together. I loved Marcos so much, he was such a fun and sparking character. I loved his attitude, dramatics and how he hid is crush behind teasing and denial. He was such a sweetheart. I was skeptical about Chance after Not So Sincerely Yours, but he won my heart pretty quickly too. Everyone makes hard choices and they all lead you to where you're supposed to be. And here, with Marcos is where he is meant to be. I enjoyed the pace of their relationship and watching them get to know each other, and all their cute flirting/teasing. Chance was so strong and sure of himself, I'm glad he got his happy every after.
    My heart broke when Chance and Ethan caught up, and loved that this was included in their story, along with the scenes with Anders. This book truly wrapped this series up. 
    The Spanish sprinkled throughout was just wonderful, I really enjoyed that.
    Forever, Con Amor is such a great read. These two might be vying for top spot, but it's been a while since I read Wild and Jax, so not sure I'm ready to call that just yet.
