Great way to end the series

Great way to end the series
I had been looking forward to this book for a while and dreading it at the same time, strange I know but that is because it is the last book in the Sex and Sweet Tea Series and I am truly going to miss the Mancinkus family. Juliette Poe did a wonderful job with each of the books by not only grabbing my attention but by creating characters I truly cared about and wanted to continually see them grow not only in each of their own HEAs but as the family unit as well. For me Larkin hit a soft spot in my heart, I think it's because she, in some ways, reminded me of my self...she works hard then comes home to curl up with a good book! One tiny part of this story, which some may consider a spoiler but I just can't help myself because it was so darn funny, is when Larkin finds herself curious about a pair of handcuffs and lets just say things didn't go as she had hoped. ;) I am talking laugh out loud funny! Now Deacon, man oh man, he can get most girls motor running. He gives off that bad boy biker vibe but that isn't who he is at all. We met Deacon briefly when he passed through town looking for lodging but that was before Millie's bed and breakfast was open so Larkin had given him directions to another town where he would be able to stay. Since that encounter this nomad hadn't been able to get Larkin out of his mind so he finds himself rumbling through town again and now staying at the now opened B&B. The chemistry between Larkin and Deacon was great but since this is a Juliette Poe book and not a Sawyer Bennett book the sexy times were left off the pages and left to your imagination....I have to admit I'd love to see how Sawyer would tackle this couple. If you are a fan of Sawyer Bennett's and haven't read her sweeter side as Juliette Poe yet, what are you waiting for? Each of the books in the Sex and Sweet Tea series can be read as a standalone but since it surrounds a family I would highly suggest you start with book #1 Ain't He Precious which is currently free. Happy Reading!!! **I have voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Readers Copy of this book for my Blog, Nadine's Obsessed with Books**

Part of the Sex and Sweet Tea series, while I’ve read a couple of the earlier books in the series (all of which center around one of Larkin’s siblings), I’ve missed a couple as well, so I can verify this book holds up well as a standalone. Reading the previous books does get you extra background on several of the secondary characters, though, and they’re worth the read.

This is a small town, opposites attract, story. Larkin is part of close knit family, runs her own business and is a partner in another, and loves living in her small town (well, maybe except for the gossip mill, lol). Though Deacon loves his family, through no fault of his own, he just isn’t that close to them. A former Marine, he’s footloose, traveling the world at will, taking handyman jobs with the occasional high paying military contract thrown in, happy to see new sights and talk to new people.

It isn’t all opposites; they’re both good people, and I loved how the two of them complement each other. Though Larkin is a small town girl at heart, she’s seen her own share of the world. She’s smart and sassy, if not always self-confident. Deacon see’s her worth though, and bolsters that confidence. From the start he knows Larkin is different from all the other women he’s met on his travels, and she’s willing to push him outside his comfort zone, making him a better person. Watching their relationship develop while wondering if and how their conflicting lifestyles can mesh is what carries the story and keeps the pages turning. Juliette Poe is the pen name Sawyer Bennett uses for her more sweet than heat stories, so while there’s plenty of chemistry between Larkin and Deacon, we don’t see anything beyond kissing, as everything else is fade to black and/or implied.

There are great secondary characters around as well, as to be expected from this type of series, including local townspeople in addition to Larkin’s extended family; Larkin’s grandfather, Pap, was a particular favorite. I enjoyed the small town setup, as having grown up in a small town myself, it makes for a nice change.

A sweet romance for the summer, or any other time of year, the great characters and lighthearted style made me remember all over again how much I enjoy this author’s books (no matter the genre or pen name) and I’m definitely going back to pick up those books in the series I’ve missed. 5+ stars

After finishing a very emotional read, I needed something a whole lot lighter with some swoony sweet moments- and Gimme Some Sugar fit the bill! The final book in this fun series features bakery owner Larkin and mysterious nomad biker Deacon Locke.

Larkin has watched all her siblings find their other halves, and while she longs for someone of her own, being a small business owner is not conducive to dating- not to mention the small town of Whynot doesn't have a whole lot of eligible bachelors. When Deacon rolled through town a few months ago she was intrigued by the Jax Teller lookalike, but she never expected him to reappear in town and set his sights on her. Larkin has always been shy around men, but she has some self-esteem issues too when it comes to the few extra pounds she has put on over the past few years so she can't believe someone like Locke would be interested in her.

Deacon definitely has some alpha traits but he has moments of sweet and sexy too. He doesn't come from the same kind of family that Larkin has, and a life of independence has suited him just fine after leaving the Marine Corps. Larkin may be the complete opposite of everything that has called to him in the past, but for some reason he cannot get this woman out of his mind. And when he thinks about leaving for an unknown new destination, for the first time in his life those thoughts unsettle him rather than filling him with anticipation.

Gimme Some Sugar was sweet, sexy fun with just enough heat to pull you in while leaving the details to the imagination. The epilogue was a great wrap up to the series as well- I am going to miss Whynot, but I loved this series while it lasted!

Deacon is what some people would call a drifter. He doesn’t have any roots or any place holding him down. He travels when he wants and works when he wants thanks to a lucrative career doing contract work for the government. He’s happy with his life and his traveling ways. All of that changes when he comes to Whynot, North Carolina and comes face to face with the owner of the town bakery.

Larkin is a southern girl through and through. She runs a bakery in Whynot and helps out at her brothers B&B. She loves her town and loves that all of her family members are close by. When she first meets Deacon, the attraction is instant. He’s a hot biker and she’s drawn to him. When the two start spending time together it’s hard for Larkin to keep her feelings in check. When Deacon invades Larkin’s privacy and finds out her true feelings will he run away, or is Larkin enough to make this traveler settle down?

This book is one that I have been waiting anxiously for! As the last of the Mancinkus sibilants that is single, I’ve been wanting Larkin to get her own happily ever after! This book didn’t let me down! I love that we got to catch up with the other members of the Mancinkus clan and find out how they’re doing all while learning more about Larkin and Deacon! If this is the last book in the Sex and Sweet Tea Series, then it ends with a bang!

A fabulous concluding edition to this series. A love story with lots of attraction and chemistry, add in Mancinkus family frivolity, quirky Whynot inhabitants and wise words from Pap and an excellent read is born.
