    I enjoyed everything about this book. Positive stories focusing on young gay characters are important, and it helps when the stories are interesting, inclusive and compelling, which is the case here.

    I'm not a young adult, and I rarely read YA novels, so I was able to focus on the beauty of the story without comparing it to others in the genre. Readers of this review might see that as a positive or a negative, but I'm glad I chose to read this book and it makes me want to explore more LGBTQ YA novels.

    The author is clearly talented and I will definitely be interested in reading more of his work. I highly recommend this, whether or not you're already a fan of the genre.

    And yes, I'm not ashamed to admit that I cried at the end of the story. I can safely say that many readers will love this book as much as I did.

    This is a super cute and fun story that I curled up with on a Sunday afternoon. Main character Jordan Ortiz is a somewhat shy high school kid who's recently come out to his family. On top of having to navigate choosing a college and whether or not he will go to prom, he's also struggling with a crush on his former best friend, football star Benjamin Cooper. When Ben breaks his leg, Jordan watches in pain as Ben's teammates somewhat abandon him. Jordan and Ben grow closer, but both wonder if there's really a happy-ever-after in their future. Even though I was in high school decades ago myself, I found myself remembering how fun - and frustrating - teen years can be. YA isn't normally a genre I read, but I very much recommend this one.

    Jordan had me from the start. He was the out and proud nerdy boy crushing on his one-time best friend, now the hero of the football team. He had a supportive family and friends and knew what he wanted, but he was no pushover. He had his limits and that was my favorite part.

    Ben was afraid of losing everything. And really, he had everything to lose. And isn't that the major relationship kiss of death?

    I loved the memories sprinkled throughout of their friendship before. I loved the dual POV so that I, the reader, knew the inner turmoil that both MC's were feeling.

    Overall, this was a very sweet tale of two friends, both hiding secrets that finally get revealed. What happens when they finally tell the truth was definitely worth the read. Absolutely recommended.

    Generally a formulaic entry into romcom territory, this kind of stands out because the two leads sometimes share thoughts (I read internal dialogue from one of the characters, then the perspective switches and the other character says almost the same thing), and because some of these thoughts can get homophobic and transphobic (no actual transphobic slurs, but the leads act as if the lack of certain genitals disqualifies someone as a romantic/sexual partner, and there are homophobic slurs).

    However, this is a decent LGBT take on a formulaic romcom (boy meets girl, start relationship, boy screws up, pulls grand gesture, happily ever after). This did turn into a sweet, easy to read story with a happy ending. The story was inclusive, and focused on the internal struggle of LGBT youth and the relationships they forge in high school.

This was a lovable tale of first love--and while some may argue that there are "trite" elements, I found this book to be a very sweet page-turner with characters you will want to learn everything about and fall in love with. Very charming, well worth the price, well-edited and written--it's a great first YA LGBTQ book from a wonderful author. Can't wait to see what other YA tales Dylan James has up in the ole noggin. Highly recommend!

    This book did so many good things. It told the story or two boys and their very different coming out stories. It showcased amazing friends and all the usual high school drama. And it really gave the characters and readers all those good, first time falling in love, high school date feelings. But most importantly, like any high school romance, proved to everyone that everyone deserves their prince charming, their fairy tale, and their happily ever after.

    I bought this book as I saw this advertised quite a lot on Twitter and I'm glad I did. I enjoyed it and thought that the characters were very likeable (well, except for Nikki! She was a bit of a lil madam!) I was really rooting for Jordan and Ben; Jordan in particular was big-hearted and likeable and Ben, while he had his issues, redeemed himself by the end. (although his issues were understandable given his internalised homophobia for the great proportion of this story.) It was nice to see an actual deaf character in this book (in Kumail!) I've not read too many books with a deaf character in; I'm partially deaf, so it was nice to see someone I could relate to (other than the queer characters of course.) This was a nice, fun, wholesome story (I like wholesome stories.) There is a sequel to this book which I'm looking forward to reading in the future.
