    Good Read!
Title: Girl Watching You Author: J.A. Schneider Publisher: J.A.S. Reviewed By: Arlena Dean Rating: Five Review: "Girl Watching You" by J.A. Schneider My Rationalization: This was indeed a good psychological thriller with lots of mystery and suspense that will keep you turning the pages to see what was happening next. This author really knows how to keep the readers' attention. I found this 'out of work actress Ava Beck' kept herself busy in other people's business as she was for Peter Greer. With Peter coming to the West Village Flower Shop along with his date Chloe, Ava 'notices bruises' and one thing lead to another [as she starts watching this hedge funder] and before you know it she becomes involved in this situation. But was Ava watching the right person? Let's not leave out all the other interesting and intriguing characters that will leave the reader with some 'stunning twist, that turns to murder and will leave you shaking your head wondering who in the world is doing this? When I thought I knew who it was well by the end of the story I found out I was entirely wrong. It was well I will leave that to you picking up the good read to see just who it was. l will say I didn't care for the way Ava got herself so involved into all of this mess and even when she had been told by several people to be careful, however, she preceded on. So, I will say what happened to her wasn't a surprise at all. So, to find out who did what, why and so much more you will have to pick up the well-written story to see how it will all play out. I will say I was indeed surprised and the ending I found it somewhat shocking to me also but when it comes to love I guess certain things unexpectedly will work out. If you are looking for good psychological thriller suspenseful mystery you have come to the right place for "Girl Watching You" will give it all to you.

Girl Watching You is a riveting suspense-thriller that grabs you on page one and doesn’t let go until those words, “The End,” appear on the final page.

Ava Beck, an out of work actress, is haunted by the death of her sister, Kim, who fell down the stairs at her boyfriend’s place. Ava is convinced that Kim’s boyfriend, film producer Brett Moore, murdered her. Moore, however, is able to escape justice when the death is ruled to be accidental. Ava, not satisfied, pursues a civil suit against him with the help of her soon-to-be ex-husband, a lawyer. Black-balled by the entertainment industry at the instigation of Moore, Ava finds work in a florist shop. However, the needless death of her sister, leaves her obsessed with powerful men who she believes take advantage of younger, naïve women. Enter Peter Greer, a successful hedge fund manager, who is estranged from his wife and is often cited in gossip columns for being in the company of younger women. Greer and his latest girlfriend purchase a bouquet from the shop where Ava works and during the transaction, she spies bruises on the girl’s wrists. Convinced something bad may happen, Ava follows the couple to the girl’s apartment, climbs the fire escape and peers in the window. An argument is taking place and Ava sees Greer raise his hand as if to hit the young woman. The woman’s cat, who has been let outside, jumps at the window gaining Greer’s attention. Does he see Ava? She hopes not. The following morning, Ava discovers the girl in question has been killed – murdered. Is Greer responsible?

Girl Watching You moves at a fast pace, author Schneider constantly ramping up the tension which keeps the reader enthralled. There are twists, turns, and a red herring or two that keep you guessing as to who is actually the murderer. The characters are fully developed and the reader feels Ava’s sorrow, her confusion, her anger, and, most of all, her need to do something. The character of Peter Greer is also multi-dimensional and the reader is tossed back and forth trying to determine if he is a vicious murderer or a victim himself.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It is my second J.A. Schneider (Cry to Me), but won’t be my last. I highly recommend Girl Watching You to fans of thrillers, psychological thrillers, romantic suspense, novels situated in New York, and mystery. Actually, I can’t think of anyone who wouldn’t enjoy this novel. I absolutely loved it!

WOW!! What an Amazing psychological thriller!! I started this book and did NOT put it down until I finished. A story that introduces you to Ava, an actress blocked from her trade after her sister is found dead at her boyfriends' house. He was a famous actor who did Not like Ava accusing him of murder, so let it be known in the business that she was too 'unstable' to work! She is now working in a flower shop, trying to come to terms with continuing her life after loss...
The characters are well-developed, wonderful and feel like your neighbors, and the plot keeps you turning pages as young women seen on the arm of a soon to be divorced financial wizard are found dead! You try to figure out Who the killer is, as Ava feels for the latest woman found dead, a frequent visitor with this 'Boyfriend" to buy flowers, and she has a compulsion to make this man PAY!
All good, until she meets Peter and finds he is NOTHING like she thought. You are in fear for Ava as she makes some questionable moves, Peter's two young children as they live a sad life with their unstable mother, and later for Everyone as Peter's Brother in Law seems ready to explode!
I read an ARC of this story from the author, who I thank for an amazing reading experience, and I give you my honest thoughts and feelings in this review. I HIGHLY recommend this suspenseful, chilling thriller to you ALL!!

Nice surprise twist in a mostly fast-paced whodunit! And the opening chapters grab the reader with Ava’s grief.

Normally, I don’t like the present tense because I’m not there...and it’s become cliche for suspense and thrillers. But it works for this book and I eventually got used to it. I did think Ava had way too many “too stupid to live” episodes, and it was hard to believe she was so instantly in love with a guy who threatened to kill her and whom she believed was a murderer just moments before. His little kids are heartstealers for sure, and definitely humanize him.

I very much enjoyed looking up images of the well-described streets and neighborhoods of NYC, the zoo, and Central Park in the fall. I definitely recommend the book, and Joe, Ava’s boss, is a great character who deserves his own story.

My first book by J. A. Schneider, but definitely not my last. It's one of those books you wish you had someone to sit and talk to about, which makes writing this review so hard. There are so many things you want to discuss, expand upon and brag about. The characters are so cleverly crafted and weaved into the plot that you find yourself literally holding your breath as you turn the page. Who is the killer? Is Ava making a horrible mistake? Should she back off? Is she crazy?

Ava's life is destroyed with the murder of her sister, Kim. Although tagged an accidental death, Ava knows it was murder. She wants Justice for Kim and revenge for herself. But powerful men have powerful lawyers and justice is fleeting. With no criminal case to prosecute she goes after Moore in civil court, with the help of her soon to be ex-husband Alex.

But that isn't enough. Another powerful man crosses her path. Peter Greer. Another innocent girl murdered and Ava witnesses the battle before her death. Risking her own life she becomes obsessed with proving Greer murdered Chloe, and his former girlfriend. But did he? Everyone around her seems suspicious, including her friend/boss, Joe and his sister Mel. Even her soon to be ex-husband isn't above suspicion as he prosecutes her sister's case. Assaulted by Greer's brother-in-law, the danger increases, and the truth is close to being revealed if Ava can survive.

A definite 5* read and highly recommended.

I loved this psychological thriller from the first page. The writing was smooth, intriguing and sharp. Ava Beck’s intensity and compulsion was as addictive as it was reckless, drawing me into her troubled life and her belief that a womanising customer had killed his girlfriend.

But what to do about it – leave it to the police? Or get yourself into even deeper trouble?

The emotional level never dropped throughout the twisting story, which swerved and detoured before delivering a twist I didn’t see coming, leading to a heart-in-the-mouth climax. It just goes to show how easy it is to make wrong judgements.

All the characters were sharply drawn and convincing, pulling me into their often convoluted worlds. No one was quite who they seemed to be, leading to the edgy atmosphere that’s essential in a psychological thriller. As the pace and action picked up, I was never quite sure who to trust and who to dispel.

I would thoroughly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys intense and edgy psychological thrillers. I certainly look forward to reading more by JA Schneider.
