Groomnapped (The Groom Series Book 1) Kindle Edition
Ameya is the only son of a millionaire farmer-cum-builder and over and above that, he’s educated too.
They meet and fall in love quite easily, the drawback being the dowry system prevalent in Bihar. With Ameya’s parents expecting a huge dowry and Surekha’s parents having a tough time eking a living out of their humble income, it seems like the match between the two lovers is one made in hell.
Ameya isn’t one to take things lying on his back. But when the parents who adore him otherwise are so set against the marriage, will he be able to make Surekha his?

About the author

Sundari Venkatraman is an Indie Author who has 68 books to her credit. These books have consistently featured in the Top 100 Bestseller Lists on Amazon India, Amazon USA, Amazon UK, Amazon Canada and Amazon Australia in both romance as well as Asian Drama categories. Her latest hot romances have all been on #1 Bestseller slot in Amazon India for over a month.
These days, the author is independently publishing her novels in paperback format under her banner Flaming Sun, printed and distributed by Notion Press.
Even as a child, Sundari absolutely loved the ‘lived happily ever after’ syndrome and she grew up on a steady diet of fairy tales, Phantom comics and Mandrake comics. It was always about good triumphing over evil and a happy ending after the protagonists surmounted all unexpected obstacles.
Once she entered her teens, Sundari switched her loyalties from fairy tales to Mills & Boon. While she loved reading both of these, she kept visualising what would have happened if there were similar situations happening in India; to local heroes and heroines. And of course, the joy of vanquishing the ubiquitous evil villains! Her imagination soared and she happily ensconced herself in a rosy romantic cocoon for many years.
Then came the writing—a true bolt from the blue! And Sundari Venkatraman has never looked back.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 22, 2018An unusual story of a groom who is kidnapped to be married. I liked the premise of the story a lot. As is the signature style of Ms. Venkatraman, its hot and short and the flow of the story is really good. Loved it. It also covers the evils of dowry system in our society and told in a lighted way.

5.0 out of 5 stars Social norms and love story
I have read the shorter version of this story in Matches made in heaven. So was excited to read a full fledged novel on the same plot. Loved it.
The Bihari tone and essence has been set perfectly in the characters and story background.
It is evident powerfully throughout the book.
I liked the characters portrayal. All have them have perfect bases to show why they are that way with enough background covered. Each carried their parts perfectly.
The story language and flow is smooth. The love scenes are few but descriptive and bold considering a small town girl and boy love story ;)
The twist at the end was good. I also loved how Misharaji was handled and his kite was set afloat. Sorry dont Know the English proverb for patang katt gayi :D
The ending promises a Book 2 in this series. Eagerly waiting to read it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved it
Kinda you can guess the story was so obvious but reading through that obvious was also very interesting the way author has narrated the story.Plus it is not dragged to make it boring which is good as well.
Loved .. good to know there is part 2 of this book.
I was eager to know the what happened with Radhika and Amit.. hoping to read it next.
Thank you

4.0 out of 5 stars Cute, light romance
Sundari Venkatraman again comes up with a fantastic idea to base the story of romantic pair Surekha and Ameya (I love the name BTW) which is pertains to a certain region of India. No doubt the Indians’ idiosyncrasies and fads are equally unique as it’s culture and heritage.
The protagonists Surekha and Ameya fall in love with each other and want to spend their lives together. They know that Ameya’s parents will never give their blessings for the match due to the difference between their financial and social status. Ameya concocts a scheme so that there is no room left for his parents to reject the relationship. What does he plan? And is the road to happily-ever-after going to be so easy? Read Groomnapped to enjoy a lighthearted yet a poignant romance.
I loved Surekha’s character for her principles and independent streak. Ameya is drool-worthy and sweet. The existence of both modern and as well as traditional mindsets in the families correctly reflects the prevalent social fabric of India. The secondary characters compliment the story very well. Additionally I could sense the romance brewing between the Surekha’s sister and Ameya’s friend. Waiting to read their story as well.
The story is fast paced and narration is characteristic to author’s writing style—fresh and honest. I would have loved if the wooing period between Ameya and Surekha would have been prolonged. I love the build up of the romance, so I guess it’s my own quirk.
Dowry system is menace and a serious problem in the country and the story tries to bring the focus on the issue in a light and entertaining manner. The sentiment that protagonists did not run away and wanted to include the parents in their lives shows the rich values ingrained in them.
I highly recommend this light breezy read.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice Short read
Till now, I have read half a dozen Sundari’s books and have always loved it. Her theme is always around women-centric issues. But for the first time, Sundari has written a story on a tradition which is not woman-centric and is also more prevalent in Bihar and surrounding states; groom kidnapping (as the title suggest) and dowry system.
I really appreciate Sundari and her writing, as she takes a social issue and weaves a wonderful thought-provoking story around it. And she has done the same thing with Groomnapped too.
I liked the way Ameya and Surekha characters have been shown as matured and independent personalities. Though the story is thought-provoking, this time I feel it lacked the essence of Sundari’s flawless writing. Having read many of her works, which always leaves an everlasting impression on the reader, this time it lacked that punch. Also, after so much of action throughout the story, I wished the ending was not that abrupt and simple.
Having said that, I would definitely love to read about Radhika and Amit’s story in The Groom Series part 2.
