Hard to Love: An enemies to lovers, redeemed bad boy, forced proximity, tennis romance (The Play Hard Series (The Kincade Sisters) Book 5) Kindle Edition

4.6 4.6 out of 5 stars 1,349 ratings

New York Times bestselling author, K. Bromberg, is back with a heartfelt, enemies to lovers romance and a hero who redeems himself to steal your heart . . .

He was the one-night stand that didn’t exactly go as planned. Now he’s standing before me as if he’s never seen me naked, telling my manager he’ll take the job.
Reluctantly.

Finn Sanderson.

Sports agent extraordinaire. Handsome as hell.
The man who just signed on to control my every move.

Sure, I’m to blame for my recent bad press, but when your whole life has been so regimented, isn’t it normal to want to live it up a little?

But when the partying stops and the grief I’m running from has nowhere else to hide, reality sets in. Turns out, Finn’s the only person I have left to help pick up the pieces.
The only person to call.

Staying with him is a temporary thing. But when our fighting turns into laughter and our friendship turns into something more, will I fight for a man who swears he’s hard to love? Or is it wiser to walk away? To follow the plan?

* * *
Offering to help with a client is a way to repay a long overdue IOU to my mentor. Little did I know she was the woman who left my hotel room at four in the morning.

Stevie Lancaster.

Top-seeded US tennis player. Good girl gone bad. The woman currently about to throw her career away. And now
my problem.

The compensation to “babysit” her is great, but she isn’t worth my trouble.

But when her world falls apart and she has no one else to turn to, I try to be a good guy by gathering her up and hiding her from the media’s eye.

Now she’s in my house, in my space, and even though I’m enjoying the side benefits of this unexpected arrangement, surely she’s better to leave when the time comes and follow her destiny. Because I’m not the man she needs. Not the man she could love.
Right?

New York Times Bestselling author K. Bromberg writes contemporary romance novels that contain a mixture of sweet, emotional, a whole lot of sexy, and a little bit of real. She likes to write strong heroines and damaged heroes, who we love to hate but can’t help to love.

A mom of three, she plots her novels in between school runs, sports practices, and figuring out how to navigate parenting teenagers (send more wine!). More often than not, she does all of this with her laptop in tow, and her mind daydreaming of the current hero she is writing.

Since publishing her first book on a whim in 2013, Kristy has sold over two million copies of her books across twenty different countries and has landed on the New York Times, USA Today, and Wall Street Journal Bestsellers lists over thirty times. Her Driven trilogy has been adapted for film and is available on the streaming platform Passionflix as well as Amazon.

Finn!
4 Stars
Finn!
Hard to Love is all about Finn and I was ready for it!! He was a bit of a villain in previous books (not really a BAD guy, but not one you think "I would love for him to get his own book") so getting deep into his story was something I was conflicted about. However, because the girls all have their HEA, I was curious about Finn.First, a different sport!! Stevie is a tennis player! I love the focus on a female athlete in a sport other than soccer. I also love that she is the one with the bad rep. I also love that she is just a woman with pain and heartbreak who hides behind being a good time girl. This is so often a behavior we see in young men, but it made me think of the famous women who have had total breakdowns due to the stress of their lives and being in the spotlight.Stevie and Finn were great for each other because they understand each other. Neither thinks they are looking for anything serious, either. There is great banter and amazing sexual chemistry. Finn certainly redeems himself and I think even the biggest Finn hater will fall for him. This entire series has been fabulous, and this is no exception!

This enemies-to-lovers romance captivated from beginning to end. This book was everything I hoped for and so much more. I loved how Finn’s story played out; he definitely met his match in Stevie. These two stole my heart and I was definitely rooting for them. Their chemistry was magnetic and passion explosive. With each turn of the page, I fell deeper for the characters and their story. The writing was flawless and delivered with so much heart and soul. The banter is witty and the push and the pull is so natural. The storyline is a rollercoaster ride of emotions that radiate from the pages. I laughed, cried, felt the pain and reveled in the joy. The heartfelt moments stole my breath and the heartbreaking ones shattered my heart. Oh, and those swoon-worthy moments were absolutely breathtaking. A powerful and poignant story of love and redemption that I didn’t want to end. A beautiful end to the Play Hard series.

...you could blame others when you fail"

I hated Finn in Hard to Handle. Wasn't a fan of him in Hard to Hold. Finn stood up for Brex in Hard To Score. He redeemed himself. Found out he cheated on Chase in Hard To Lose. So, back to disliking him. And he was ruthless in this one. He was cold. And very unforgiving. But it made total sense. And I finally liked him. I bought this book on 9/7/21. It has been almost 2 1/2 years. And I am so glad I saw this was unread. I feel better now I've read it. And I was completely enthralled and totally satisfied. Much love.

It almost seems like Finn and Stevie were playing cat and mouse games. And it was completely unintentional. They were like fire and ice. When Finn walks away, it lit a fire in Stevie. She did not like it. The only real problem I had was well Finn admitted to cheating on Chase and Stevie was OK with it. I would have been mad and seriously turned off. But I love me some hate/angry SEX. It's hella HOT.

I lost count how many times I either teared up or fell in love, with either Finn or Stevie. When Stevie hits her chest 3 times. Finn puts Stevie in his bed and sleeps with her. Carrot cake. Finn presents Stevie with a video of her dad. Stevie's firsts. Cards O' Fun. Rapunzel. Stevie said "I need you".

This book is completely independent from the other books in the series. But Finn does talk to Chase and she talks about Gunner. Other than that no one else is mentioned. I forgot to mention in my review of Hard To Lose that Easton Wylder made a cameo. And he was in The Player along with Scout.

We want an epilogue! Great book, great series. After not liking Finn for 4 books, he somewhat redeemed himself. It was good to see his story and understand him. Love that they both found love and happiness.

“There’s nothing wrong with being more than attracted to a man and wanting to enjoy him in every possible way.”

The ultimate hero redemption! This enemies to lover sports romance was such a sexy read, full of great banter and heart, I loved it. Finn and Stevie had a mountain of baggage and unwanted sexual tension between them but there was no denying their chemistry after one night together. Leading up to this book in the series, Finn definitely didn’t have the best reputation but he absolutely surprised me with his story! Behind his jerk tendencies there was a man with a tender, caring heart and a few love battle scars of his own. He was the exact man that Stevie needed in her life after the devastating loss of her father, the biggest support of her tennis career. The way that Finn and Stevie wound up building a friendship really setup this story to have me falling head over heals in love.

“I think one more kiss will be enough but then my hands are on her and it becomes one more touch. One more taste. One more everything until I’m drowning in her.”

I loved finally getting to know more of Finn’s background in this book and what made him tick. My heart hurt that Finn’s father had drilled into his head that women were nothing more than a distraction, someone to screw you over and never to trust them with your heart. But with Stevie, there was no stopping how his heart fell for her in the way he cared for her when she needed him most.
Stevie had a wild streak to her at the start that had me shaking my head but she hadn’t fully processed her grief over her fathers death. She was stubborn yet strong and didn’t want a babysitter, especially not a man like Finn. But when she realized a what a good man he was underneath all his arrogance, I was rooting for them to give into their desires and let go with each other! 4.5 stars for me!

“And most of all, I love that you love me. A man who might be hard to love, but who would move heaven and earth to hear your laugh. To taste your kiss. To lie beside you each and every night.”

So I thought uugghhh Finn……..how am I supposed to be excited about his story. Well boy was I wrong! I absolutely loved Finn and Stevie! Such unpredictable circumstances brought them together but the slow burn of their love was beautiful. He cared for her in a way that was tough yet so endearing. She nurtured his misconceptions and things he thought he knew about women in a way that had him only loving her more. These two were the perfect ending to an amazing series!I loved every story in its own way! A definite must read…. Just remember everything you thought you knew about Finn and forget it all! He is so much more ❤️

Stevie has just lost her father and is feeling the strain acting out by partying and drinking. Thats not good for her image as a professional tennis player and her agent is trying to calm her down. He employs Finn in the hope that he can handle her not knowing that Finn had met her when she was playing up and drinking. Finn was a football player when he was younger but an injury meant a change of career to become a very good agent with a father who never thought he worked hard enough. He was attracted to Stevie but he was a lover and leaver guy after he had it drilled into him that women just got in the way. He worked with Stevie and manged to get her back into training and they enjoyed a comfortable alliance. Finn just needed to be brave and realise that the right girl makes all the difference. Its a lovely written book and I would recommend you read the books in order to get the best out of all the series.

Final enstallment in this series, and this time it isn’t really about the Kincade girls but one of their lost loves. Finn Saunderson. Once you truly know him, he most definitely not the heartless guy you think he is, from previous encounters. His father had a lot to answer to, about his beliefs of woman, and their unreliability. So much so, that when he is asked to sort out Steve Lancaster hit reaction once he gets to close is reactive. Stevie a tennis phenomenon, is grieving the loss of her father, confident, friend and coach, agent and all. She takes time off from the circuit to experience the joys of being reckless and needs to be reigned back in. Carson her new agent, is owed a favour for past guidance from Finn and the story unfolds. The story is well written, full of reactive emotions, feelings of abandonment, miss trusts, and possible untruths. The hazy picture of alcohol causes misunderstandings, and mistakes occur and the lady has to be rescued from herself. However is Finn strong enough to do this. ? The whole story is so absorbing and beautifully written that the end comes far to quickly. Can be read possibly as a stand alone, but there are references to past characters, reasons and attitudes so best read as a series.

5.0 out of 5 stars See a different side to Finn Sanderson
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on October 3, 2021
I'm so pleased that we got to see a different side to Finn Sanderson. He was always the bad buy through the other books in the series, and it is good to know that there was a nicer side to him.

Stevie Lancaster had gone off the rails and her manager Carson didn't have the time nor energy to try and get her back on track. Bringing Finn Sanderson in as the tough younger manager was his idea to get Stevie back in line. Two stubborn people working against each other was never going to be an easy ride. But, when Stevie's life throws up another complication, Finn shows her compassion and strength that allow her to find her own feet, in a way she didn't think herself capable of.

Fab story!
