4.4 out of 5 stars 89 ratings

Eco-warrior Mango Manning must shake the demons of his past to win back London nightclub owner Ryan Bishop, who is suddenly facing issues of his own.

WITH BOTH HANDS

Brawny, beautiful, complicated and sexy as hell, eco-warrior Mango Manning is everything performer and London nightclub owner Ryan Bishop wants in a life-partner. But Mango has been loving and leaving Ryan for the past two years, and Ryan’s had enough. That’s why he’s moving on. Ryan’s the monogamous type—which means now he’ll be alone at the worst possible time.

Mango Manning knows he’s screwed up and has commitment issues. That’s why he’s been so on-and-off with Ryan these past two years. He’d thought he found a safe haven, a place to hide from the losses of his past, but there are other demons you just can’t escape. Like Ryan’s health. If Mango is to put things right, he must man up and discover a way back into Club Delish and the heart of its owner. Only then can they look to the future together, come what may. True happiness will slip through their fingers...unless they both grab on and hold tight.

I thought it would be impossible for me to like Mango after the previous books in this series, but Susan Mac Nicol didn't just make me like him, she made me love him. I'm glad Ryan didn't just roll over, he made him work for it. Ryan deserved so much better than what he'd been getting from Mango. Thankfully Mango got a reality check. Highly recommend.

I love this author and I loved this book! I have read the series, but it is not necessary in order to find Hard Climate an enjoyable read. In fact, I've read this book twice within a couple days span because it hit all the right notes. I would encourage anyone thinking of buying this book to do so and enjoy!

I liked the book . I love the author. One of the series I have on my must buy lists. A little predictable in the characters and their coming back to each other aspect , but it was still sweet and interesting to read.

Sometimes you have to lose the one you have, before your thick head realizes just how much you love that person. Then the fight begins to win that person back. This is what Susan so skillfully shows in this story.

Hard an adjective word, meaning solid, firm, and rigid; not easily broken, bent, or pierced. GULP!! Let me explain why, I think the writer of this story chose the title and no I have not stalked the Author and already asked. Hopefully she will seek me out and tell me I was right, if not, well thats okay because this is the way I see it, the way I feel.

So back to Hard, LOL!! I know, I know, I just can't help myself. Anyways the meaning Solid, firm is really the obvious thing that springs to mind, okay Jesus, I will spell it out for you. It's the male member, you guys know I can't use words of profanity or certain sexual words in my reviews, it will get removed. Hard also means not easily broken, well this was certainly true for Ryan. Unfortunately I can't make any other comment on that because it would give a huge spoiler out, so go read. hehe!!

Climate, another interesting word to use for a book title. It's a noun word. Yep, I have been reading the English dictionary today just for you guys. The meaning could be the weather conditions prevailing in an area in general or over a long period, but nope that definitely doesn't feel right after reading this story, so I investigated further. And this seems more like it, 'another aspect of life'.

The title fits the story perfectly, you're probably thinking, I didn't need to know all that codswallop above, well thats the great thing about reviewing, I can say what I like, HA!! Honestly, I feel like I've turned into Mango. Who's Mango? So pleased you asked. I will now get back to the story.

If you are a fan of 'The Men of London Series', you would have heard about Ryan and Mango previously. Ryan was Laverne Debussy-Smith AKA Lenny's ex bed buddy. Mango is the guy that Ryan has always loved but can't get him to stay in the same zip code long enough to have a relationship with him. Capisce? You following so far?
So now that Lenny is settled with Brook. Ryan is also ready to take the next step and have a meaningful relationship. Nope, Mango is not the settling down type or is he? Who knows what's around the corner, the possibilities for Mango are endless, even jail is a strong candidate.

I have laughed so hard while reading this story. This is one of my favourite quotes,
'Would you please stop trying to drive my nuts through my stomach and calm down and listen to me?' HAHA!! Leading up to this part is hilarious and full of profanity, hence why I chose to share this part.

No story is complete without a little heartache, maybe not everyone cries while reading tragic events, but I sure do. I think because I was so involved in this story it made me cry harder. I was so sadden by what occurred I just kept thinking, please be okay, please be okay. Honestly if I thought for one minute the Author wasn't going to give me a HEA, I would have screamed the house down. Oh yeah, I need my happy ever after without it, I can't sleep, I have the book hangover from hell. Readers you know exactly what I am talking about.

I have to say this is another exceptional story to add to 'The Men of London'. I really don't know what I will do when this series is over. It's a truly amazing gift to be able to not only write a book, but to grasp the hearts of readers that keep wanting more. Susan Mac Nicol without a doubt you have been blessed with the Midas touch.
Thank you for another heart warming and sexy read. Please never stop writing The Men of London.

PS. I still have full rights to Clay and Tate, just saying. (Smily face inserted here)

Take one feisty guy who owns a club where he dresses in drag from time to time (Ryan) and put him with a rally-for-the-cause guy who just can’t commit (Mango), and you have a recipe for angst called Hard Climate. But that’s not all you’re going to find when Mango realizes exactly what he stands to lose when Ryan decides he’s fed up with the come-and-go attitude Mango continually plays. It’s a case of “you don’t know what you’ve got until it’s gone”, exacerbated by some health drama that will keep you quickly turning the pages to make sure these guys will still have some kind of happy ending.

I loved Ryan, he’s a successful club owner, definitely comfortable with who he is and I was proud of him for standing up for himself after two years of back and forth with Mango who for personal reasons won’t commit to him permanently. Mango gets an earful not just from Ryan, but from his friends as well, prompting him to make a decision on just what is really important to him.

Mango’s attitude at first rubbed me the wrong way, so the journey in this story of him discovering how badly he wants Ryan (and not just as a when-I’m-in-town guy), and the cementing of that relationship between them felt like a bit of redemption for his character. The two of them are really good together, and as Mango works his way back into Ryan’s heart and their relationship gets stronger and stronger, it raised my opinion of Mango as the story progressed.

The drama and worry throughout the story, particularly after Ryan receives some troubling personal news, kept me glued to the pages, and in the end Hard Climate wound up as a 4.5-star read for me. And just as with the rest of the series, this book is only for readers 18+ for adult language and sexual content.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ein weiterer Gewinner von einer wunderbaren Geschichtenerzählerin!
Reviewed in Germany on August 3, 2016

Ryan hatte einfach genug!

5.0 out of 5 stars divatronics and drag queen drama
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on August 1, 2016

Phew that Ryan is hot and paired with Mango they are off the charts scorching. Mixed with sass, divatronics and drag queen drama, Susan MacNicol has created an exciting and engaging read with these two. The Men of London books are great and the story lines original and fun to read. Take one club owning drag queen and one eco-warrior Ryan wants Mango and Mango wants Ryan but is finding it hard to commit. When he does finally decide he wants Ryan exclusively and forever it may unfortunately be too late. Ryan doesn't believe Mango and makes it quite clear that his man is going to have to fight hard to convince him that he's genuine this time, but fate has a funny way of changing things and when Mango nearly loses Ryan for a different reason altogether their love is tested to the limit. Lots to keep me entertained and of course the sex was hot and dialogue sassy. Loved it...

I really enjoyed this book it's one of my favourites in this series. In this book we return to Brooks friend and neighbour Mango who is an eco warrior with commitment issues and his club owner on off boyfriend Ryan who has had enough of Mangoes commitment phobia. Ryan is the owner of Club Delish and is fed up of constantly being abandoned when Mango goes off with his eco friends and leaves Ryan standing. After Ryan breaks it off with Mango he must find it in himself to change or he will lose Ryan forever. Everything changes for Mango when Ryan is diagnosed with a brain tumour. Can Mango pull himself together and be there for Ryan or will his commitment phobia tear them both apart. Definitely one of the best books in the series but these books are meant to be read in order. I love this series! Very real, wonderfully sexy but flawed men, falling in love, fighting their own personal demons and coming out on top. Eight books (so far?!?) and no two the same. Hard climate ranks up in my top three, having pushed a few personal buttons! Engrossing storyline, such appealing MCs, seriously steamy sex, powerful emotions and a fought for happy ending. Just superb!
